DirecTV Is A Dirty Bird! -
by B-Side
It looks like the honeymoon between Rupert Murdoch and DirecTV is over. The media mogul is hoping to sell the satellite company, which he now lovingly refers to as a "turd bird." With cable companies offering internet, telephone, and video options, poor DirecTV has struggled recently to maintain market share. We're not sure what this means for us loyal satellite subscribers, but if we're forced to go back to terrestrial cable, I might have to swear off TV altogether. The scars of Adelphia still haunt me so. Nevertheless, we're not sure when Murdoch soured on DirecTV, but I imagine it was probably about five minutes after he first tried to use the DirecTV DVR -- or as I like to call it, the worst machine EVER. Long live Tivo! [Variety]

DirecTV sucks! The DVR they sent me doesnt have digital quality outputs so the picture looks fuzzy on my brand new 37" LCD, fondly named LuCinDa!
The contractors they have that provide service are terrible. I once waited 3 days for them to show up for an appointment. The only way you know they arent going to show up for an appointment is when you call to find out why they are late.
The cost of my service had gone up 25 bucks in the 10 months since I have had the service.
But its still cheaper than cable!

B-Side, thank you for posting this. I live in L.A. and have emotional scars from Adelphia as well. (Toward the end of their reign of terror, they sent me a letter indicating I was a "V.I.P. Customer" due to the fact that I was one of the customers whose rates were being raised the most.) I have the HD Tivo from DirecTV and it is the greatest product since the original DirecTivo.
