Newsgasm: Mad Mel Beyond Soberdom Edition -
by B-Side

- Mel Gibson was arrested over the weekend for a DUI, and allegedly, he unleashed a torrent of anti-Semitic comments such as "The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Thank God he said it. I was really getting sick of having Tom Cruise as our ranking crazy superstar. [AP]
- Lindsay Lohan is back to work after a weekend feud with the president of Morgan Creek, the studio producing her latest movie. The exec, James Robinson, told reporters today that "I've never had a minute's trouble with her. She's every inch a lady." He then added, "Firecrotch." [Reuters]
- Just when you thought Lance Bass's "very stable" relationship with Reichen Lehmkuhl was the gay fairy tale of 2006, reports are now surfacing that Lance has grown weary of his Aryan superman. Allegedly, Reichen forced Lance out of the closet so he could ride the publicity wave to promote his new book. That book's title, "I'm the Guy Dating Lance Bass!" [New York Post]
- Jay Leno and Kevin Smith will be among several celebrities filling in for recovering post-op film critic Roger Ebert on his show Ebert & Roeper at the Movies. The stars will mix it up with Richard Roeper, thus assuring that now no one will get any sort of useful film criticism from the show. [E! Online]
- MTV turns 25 tomorrow, but don't expect any festivities. The network is reticent to show its age. In lieu of a massive pat on its back, MTV instead offers up its latest VMA noms. Yay! [AP: MTV at 25, VMA Noms]
- Finally, there's a bunch of generic reality shows heading our way this fall. Enjoy. [Reality Blurred]

In regards to those reality TV shows... dull is right. But by far the worst- eight 30 minute episodes featuring the daily lives of Macy's employees. Are you kidding me? What exactly will we be watching? Clothing inventory? People heating up their frozen meals in the break room? A candid view of the dressing room? SNORE!

I second that. It sounds VERY dull.. However I am looking forward to Flavor of Love 2. It's like Jerry Springer meets The Bachelor in Compton. Macy's employees?? Wth.

Ah well, Mel's Holocaust denying father doesn't need alcohol as an excuse...unfortunately.

THANK YOU, Mel Gibson, for giving a good name to Catholics everywhere! You really should be canonized.
FYI, everyone: Mel G. is orthodox Catholic, and there are VERY few of those left anymore. I will admit that the faith has its problems, BUT we are NOT all anti-Semitic and women-hating crazies.

Mel Gibson is indeed crazy. All the reporting that I've read has included words such as "torrent", "tirade", "barrage". These words are used to describe the anti-semitic portion of his ranting. However it seems that the lengthy soliloquy included only the following anti-semitic vitriol:
"Fucking Jews... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." Gibson then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"
While abhorrent, that is hardly a tirade. Not to mention the fact that he's WRONG! Everybody knows that Phil Collins is responsible for all the wars in the world.

I don't know about the Jews, but all Catholics are anti-Semetic women-hating crazies.

Am I the only one who's been thinking, ever since "The Passion of the Christ" was released, that Mel's been going off the deep end little by little? It just seems like the things he's been saying the last couple of years are getting more and more outlandish and out of control.

Mel is a frickin nutcase!
Too much money, too many "nut" genes in his family. And rehab won't help with bigotry, Mel!
He will not walk away from this unscathed. I have a feeling his career is OVER. Too bad, cause I looked at my dvd's last night and I have probably 5 with Mel in them. Still like them, but won't go see new Mel movies or buy anymore dvd's.
Shame, Shame, Shame.

One more thing: Mel's mug shot was surprisingly good! Hot Bigot alert.
Shame.
