Newsgasm: Timewarp Edition -

- Paula Abdul reported to L.A. police that a man assaulted her at a party over the weekend, grabbing her arm and throwing her against a wall. Do you ever get one of those Groundhog Day moments when you suddenly think "WTF, since when is it 1989 again and Paula Abdul is famous?" That happened to me today—ever since I read the article I've been battling the urge to peg my jeans and buy a Koosh ball. [AP]
- Mandisa, formerly of American Idol, is officially uncomfortable with The Gays because they're seemingly incompatible with Jesus. Fair enough, but boooo, you probably just lost like half your fan base. [The Advocate]
- And Angelina Jolie has apparently forsaken the plain of darkest Mordor for the BURNING SANDS OF THE NAMIB DESERT as the site where she will unleash her otherworldly spawn. [AP]

Comments

Mandisa, glad you're gone.
Cause in my world there's no room for hate. Except for Paris 'I Suck Anything' Hilton.

look, atleast Mandisa was real and not pc. She said how she felt without being malicious. Obviously there's a disconnect, (hello..fundamentalism)...with what Jesus teaches..and what religion dictates to people. Someday, perhaps she will be enlightened.

According to the AP article, Angelina is changing her kids last name to Jolie-Pitt because Brad is going to adopt. I guess she has more faith in the longevity of this relationship than the rest of the universe. Those poor, poor children.

Agreed. I find her comments offensive, but respect that she had the balls as a huge, whale-like sloth to go on television and sing her fat ass off...and that she had the balls to be honest.
She has, however, fallen to my least favourite AI member this year - and that's BEHIND that annoying bitch who said, "Let's make great TV!"
Just my opinion.

My local morning radio station's "Hollywood gossip" segment reported this morning that the guy Paula is accusing of assaulting her at the party wasn't even AT the party - he was celebrating his daughter's birthday, and his alibi is airtight. Don't know if it's true or untrue - just sharing.

you people are crazy...there was nothing offensive in what Mandisa was saying...she has certain values that you dont share...she very clearly states that she doesnt hate and she doesnt want to judge anyone...she has been the same throughout the competition and has not tried to hide her beliefs...as for the fact that she would not want to participate in a gay show...that is completely understandable...if you have something you dont agree with you are not going to want to go sing happy songs in support...that would be like a meat eater and hunter going to hang out and protest with PETA...it just doesnt happen

Yeah, personally I have to say I don't find Mandisa's comments offensive at all. I disagree with her, sure, but at least she was respectful in articulating it.

"Do you think gay people can turn straight?
I don't really know. I honestly don't know much about it. I wouldn't be very knowledgeable to speak on that subject. "
I'm at least glad she said that.

ANTF (#3), you disagree with Mandisa, so does that mean you hate her? If so, then there's no room for you in your own world. There is a difference between disagreeing and hating. Mandisa, from what I've read of what she said, showed that difference.

I don't like black people... I would never attend a party where black people were at.
I don't agree with Jews or Muslims. I would never go to a business owned by someone from that faith.
I think women are physically inferior to men. I would never work for one.

What is so offensive about Mandisa's comments? I understand that in our PC/"Do whatever makes you feel good" society is considered an absolute atrocity to have system of moral values, but all she did was disagree with the behavior. She wasn't comdemning, she wasn't judging, and she wasn't saying that she was any better than they are. Stop with the knee-jerk,judgemental reactions. You are just as bad as those you chastise.

Ummm...as Artie Lange so smartly pointed out on the Howard Stern Show last week, Mandisa has been singing at a gay event for months...American Idol! Whatever, I was glad to see her go.
