Stop. Bubble Time! -
by B-Side
It's that time of year again! That gloriously exciting time when network execs decide the fate of many of our favorite (and despised) shows. Yes, it's bubble season! For those of you unfamiliar with the term, "the bubble" refers to that precarious limbo a television show finds itself in when it hasn't been officially picked up for another season. Will the series snag a renewal? Or will the bubble pop and the brutal axe of cancellation swing mercilessly? Such are the questions facing many a plucky television show, and luckily for all us armchair industry-ites, we get to have our say for whom the bubble shall toll. USA Today has come out with its annual bubble poll which lists every series that has yet to be picked up. Granted, filling out the survey doesn't actually affect the network brass and their often ill-advised decisions, but hey, it's a fun 30 second diversion. I already filled out my ballot (suck it, Hope & Faith!). Check out the survey here and feel free to discuss in the comments section.

Yeah, not one of the shows on the list is worth keeping, except for Scrubs. "Teachers?" Come on...

The Svan agrees, Scrubs is the only one worth keeping. It's amazing how shitty TV is these days.

The Svan thinks zoobabe looks a bit chunky in her picture. Perhaps you should quit stealing the orangutan's snacks.

I voted for Sons and Daughters, for the rest of you I voted for scrubs, although I've never seen it. I have never heard of half of those. I hope one tree hill gets cancelled. I would love for Chad Michael Murray to be unemployed.

I agree with hardly@work. Sons and Daughters is a really funny show. If One Tree Hill gets cancelled where will Chad Michael Murray find his next wife?

Personally, I don't get how Reba made it past the pilot episode, let alone multiple seasons.
Several of those other shows I've never even heard of - odd.
Anyway, I voted. Do our opinions really count???

Yes, Sons & Daughters is THE best show on tv right now! If you love Scrubs you'll love this show but will have to Tivo/DVR one or the other. If it gets cancelled I will have to throw out my tv.

If Veronica Mars is not renewed, I'm boycotting anything to do with the CW.
Even Arrested Development (another brilliant, mistreated show) got the dignity of three seasons.
Why, why, WHY did Everybody Loves Raymond, Frasier and Friends (sorry) run a million seasons and wonderful, funny shows are in jeopardy year after year? GRRR!

They did not have one show on there that I watch. Maybe that's a good thing, maybe all my shows have already been renewed.

I think the reason Scrubs is on the bubble is evident from some of the comments on here--people always like it and find it funny when they take the time to watch. But most people who enjoy good, intelligent comedy aren't really watching and supporting the few that are still on the air. Of course, NBC hasn't helped with the pathetic way it has scheduled Scrubs. Scrubs should be on with Earl and The Office instead of Teachers, Four Kings, and Will and Grace (aka the show that hasn't been funny in at least 4 seasons.)
However, I've heard that Scrubs could get picked up by ABC if NBC axes it, which is good. Apparently some execs now at ABC used to be at NBC when Scrubs was developed and they really believe in the show. (Not that ABC has always supported and smartly-scheduled its great comedies. Cough, Sports Night, cough.)

Speaking of Scrubs and Teachers...if any one out there has watched Teachers besides me...have you noticed the eerie similarity the two shows have? On Scrubs you have the white guy and bald black guy who are friends and the same on Teachers. On Scrubs you have a firey latina and the same on Teachers. On Scrubs you have the ditzy Blonde and the same on Teachers. Scrubs has the boss who always says no and the principal is the same on teachers. Even the give and take between characters is the same. I know they were created by the same people but isn't it a bit obvious they have only one idea for a tv show?
