At the end of last week's episode, 4 girls stood before the judges in the casting office to see who would be sent home. They told Lauren she was just too young and not cut out for the role of Elle Woods. As she was dismissed, the three remaining contestants: Bailey, Autumn and Rhiannon, stopped crapping their pants and breathed a sigh of relief. All was well with the world.

And then Judge Bernie told them one more would be sent home. Cue end credits. And for a week we were left to wonder who the unlucky gal would be. I put my money on Autumn, who the judges have never really been to keen on, while they simply adore Bailey and Rhiannon

Last week on Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods, we learned that it takes a little more than blonde hair to be a Broadway star in this show of shows. You also have to be a moderately talented singer and under 20 years old.

And so Natalie, with her newly honey-colored hair and quarter-life crisis, was sent home, while squeaky-voiced Rhiannon, baby-faced Lauren and trash-talkin' Bailey stayed in the game. Oh, and almost-30 Autumn made it through to the next round, but she's getting so furious with the injustice of this competition that her head is about to explode.

This week, it's time to find out if any of them are real triple threats. Can any of them sing, act, and dance? How hard can it be, right?

Man! I knew it. I knew there was going to be an episode of this show where the non-blondes dyed their hair blonde to finally, really really become Elle Woods. I had hoped it would happen earlier in the season, when there were 4 non-blondes. (Or even 5. Remember the sad sack Cassie O?). But instead we are down to just 2.

Still, this week was the first time Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search For Elle Woods provided anything visually stimulating.

Baby steps. Baby steps.

Hello Legally Blonde watchers. Welcome back to the Pink House. If you're still with me, it means you've fallen under the same unlikely spell as I have and you've suddenly found yourself giving a crap what happens to these overblown homecoming queens. I know, it's unsettling. But just hang in there a few more weeks and this will all be over with. (And then you know you'll be back to obsessing over the losers on The Hills. Btw, Team Heidi 100%. Get over yourself, Lauren! As Michael Stipe said, "Everybody hurts sometimes.")

So this week, we've got some things to look forward to. Natalie steps into the spotlight, Emma is forced off her high horse, and Autumn blows chunks. It's about time these ladies went full tilt boogie.

As we enter the fourth week of competition on MTV's Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search For Elle Woods, one thing is clear: the judges prefer the blonde contestants, if only because they coincidentally have emerged as the most talented prospects. Meanwhile, things are not looking so good for the show's three non-blondes...or maybe there are four non-blondes, if you count Natalie who is sort of a brownish blonde. But I don't know, it's hard to remember that Natalie's even around with her bland performances and useless on-camera commentary.

By the by, does anyone remember that band Four Non Blondes? They sang that song "What's Going On?" They were a 90s one hit wonder. Don't you love the 90s? VH1 does. They did a whole miniseries about it.

Last week, we learned there just isn't enough room for two Cassies on Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods. And so Cassie O. was sent packing.

Henceforth Cassie S. will be known simply as Cassie. But can she also be known as Elle Woods? She certainly thinks so, but none of the other girls do. Commence catty drama.

We began last week's show with a stage full of pink-clad, smiling young hopefuls ready to dance and sing their way into our hearts and prove that they could be the next Elle Woods on Broadway.

Oh how they danced! And sang! For hours on end. Until, mercifully, the judges sent a whole mess of them home and we ended up with 10 exhausted, emotional wrecks who would be the finalists.

In this week's episode, the judges ask the question, "But, can they act?"

With The Hills off the air until August, MTV was left to find something to fill this temporary void. They needed something girly. Something superficial. Something that could only last one season. Enter Legally Blonde The Musical: The Search For Elle Woods. Contestants show off their singing, dancing and acting skills to win the grand prize: the leading role in Legally Blonde on Broadway.
