Making the Band 4: Whine Flu

So this season of Making the Band is officially over. And like every other season, we end with an unsatisfying reunion episode where very few questions are actually answered, and my iced double mocha runs out far too quickly.

Final Chapter...until next season...

All right, let's do this and put this season to bed. We're in the Hudson Theater in NYC with hundreds of screaming fans and the usual suspect: Sway. He introduces a clip of Day26 in a meeting with Diddy after the cruise to the Bahamas.

Diddy wants to know what the cruise was like without Que. Brian, of course, pipes up immediately saying how weird it was without him. Again, I feel like Brian is just playing for the cameras. He's just always so dramatic about how everybody needs everybody. I think he just wants to come off in a good light. He's wants to be the "lover" and not the "whiney bitch with a screechy voice and anger management problem." Too late, Screechy! All that crazy footage of you going nuts in dance class last season is on tape. And it will live on UNTIL THE END OF OUR NATURAL LIVES.

Still sporting the 'Crazy Eye'

Que says he felt lonely not being on the cruise, but it was a wake-up call. He learned that he needs to listen better and learn to communicate. True. Because communication is NOT accusing everyone of being selfish and then leaving early for dance rehearsal (a.k.a. to meet his drug dealer in a dance studio).

Diddy says that, in life, people often don't appreciate each other enough. But he'll always appreciate those who can make him lots of money. Okay, he doesn't say that in so many words, but he says their album is dope. So obviously he thinks he has some cash cows in these guys.

When we get back to the show, Day26 performs "Imma Put it On her." And they gyrate all over the place doing those crazy fake push-up things that *N Sync used to do. You know, where they get into yoga "plank" position, but just wiggle their legs all over and kinda simulate sex? Awesome. And you know what? They sound great. They really harmonize beautifully. They might be lazy and crazy and temperamental, but they sing like angels. Then Diddy ruins it for me when he comes out and raps about "Ciroc Obama." Man, plugging his beverage in a Day26 song. How shameless. I will make a POINT to NEVER buy Ciroc. Unless I am REALLY hard-up for alcohol and that's the only thing left in my patented alcohol cabinet...er...alcohol room.

Looks like Que's been in Cap'n Crunch's wardrobe again.

Back with Sway, Brian reiterates that it sucked not having Que on the cruise. Yeah yeah yeah, whatever, you kiss up. Then Sway asks Robert what he meant when he compared Que to Orangebrey. Robert says he had nothing against Orangebrey, but then something something. I don't understand? Something like Orangebrey had a lot of control and what? Did anyone else get what he was trying to say? Now the light is on Brillo. He says it was frustrating watching Day26 fight because that took up all the tv time. And he didn't get as much face time because of that. Ha! I love it! Brillo is normally so meek and now he's calling everyone out and demanding "face time." I love it!

Shaved into Robert's hair is a map of the intricate waterway system in Venice.

Brillo performs a song called "Pick it Up." From what I can tell, it's a song about picking up the pieces of a girl's heart. He removes his jacket. Casually lifts up his shirt. And, you know, blandly flashes his abs. Man, he's so cute. But where's the charisma? He always looks so awkward and timid. Guess that just proves that you can't have it all. And if you get by on your looks all the time, then who needs to develop a personality?

Finally! The moment we've been waiting for! Danity Kane!!! ALL of our ladies file out! No, wait, we're missing one. Aundrea isn't there, dammit!! But I can't wait to see what Orangebrey says. I bet it's hilarious. Orangie, Dawn and D. Woods sit in the front while Shannon (RE: the boring one) gets buried in the background. Shannon says that Drea is the sweet sensitive one and just wasn't up for being there. Sway says they've all been through a lot, and they'll be sensitive to that. Two platinum albums and an international tour is a lot to deal with. The only thing worse would be the Holocaust. Poor things. Let's be sensitive.

serjen:

Apparently Aubrey is the new bachelorette for "A Shot At Love" on MTV. Always classy!

serjen,
On MTV.com, Aubrey said she turned down to be on "A Shot of Love" but she'll be doing a diff reality show & I'm definately watching.

Diddy is more at fault at this group not being together than Aubrey. Diddy f***ed up the group, broke them up, and then blamed all their problems on the girls.

I swear they never actually say anything in these finales - we always have read between the lines to find out what the hell's going on. Sadly, I don't think there's going to be another Danity Kane & I'm not interested in seeing Diddy make another got damn group. I am officially on Team Aubrey!!!

MandaMo,
You've done a great job recapping this season -with Que fighting everybody due to his constant drug use, I mean "dance rehearsal", the wtf is going on with Danity Kane saga, and the triumph of Donnie. Well I don't know if it's a triumph yet but we'll still rooting for u Donnie.

Luv Ya MandoMo and hope ur back next season cause u know this TV show is the only thing keeping Day26 and Donnie alive. lol

mspattie:

Great recap. I've been waiting for this one. I really don't think Diddy is the sole reason for the break up. Aubrey is so full of herself 'til I have half of a gag. I think egos played a major factor in this whole saga. I love the new Day 26 album. The intro is CRAZY. I just hate the excess talking during the songs versus lyrics. I will miss you MandaMo. It's been a great ride!!!!!

J-Mo:

MandaMo, I will miss this show and your awesome take on it... until next season. I, for one, am extremely happy to hear that Orangebrey turned down being on "Shot At Love", that show is a window into hell... much like this one is, but at least you get to hear some music once in a while. Thanks for helping to sort through all the mumbled, jumbled, unclear, mushmouthed dialogue this show is plagued with.

love to you!

love, J-Mo :)
