catpicviplg110706My friend Amanda (not THE Amanda from TVgasm) has a blog called How Not To Be Dreadful, and while I've mentioned it quietly here and there, I haven't had any real reason to truly plug it until now. There's a new television show on Fox that looks so utterly dreadful that I couldn't post about it without mentioning Amanda's site. You see, the series is called VIP Passport, and it follows the exploits of Trishelle Cannatella (yes, that Trishelle), Jerry from The Bachelorette (the one who Jen Schefft rejected), and Rachel Sterling, who is apparently a Pussycat Doll. There are two other people in the cast, but honestly, no one knows who they are. Now, if the appeal of Trishelle, Jerry, and a Pussycat Doll hasn't already sold you, maybe the show's unique (read: convoluted) premise will. According to the press release, the show "intertwines the fictional plotlines of the cast with a travelogue approach as each episode passes through some of the hottest locations in a different cosmopolitan city." So basically, it's Wild On... meets Unscripted meets AWFUL. Sadly, I will probably watch.

I'm not sure how the producers plan to implement this bizarre idea, but for those wanting more information (ie. the official press release), click after the jump...

Okay, so here's the press release, and since it probably won't clarify much, check out the website, which will continue to confuse you. Seriously, what IS this show?

Btw, check out the bios on the website. I particularly like Jerry's blurb, which says he started his career in the PR Department of Harry Winston's. PR Department, or as the rest of us call it: DOORMAN.

Series to Spread the VIP Passport Lifestyle by Giving Viewers a Porsche, Hummer or Mercedes Every Week
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--VIP Passport - a new, late-night, hour-long television series produced by Lux Entertainment that takes viewers behind the velvet ropes and into the first-class lifestyle of a cast of jet-setting friends - will premiere starting November 3rd in weekend slots on stations in major markets across the country. The show follows the cast as they enjoy exotic lifestyles that include partying at the hottest nightclubs, dining at the most exclusive restaurants, shopping at the trendiest boutiques and lounging at the finest locales in the world. Viewers will have the unprecedented chance to live the lifestyle, as well, by winning world class vehicles given away every week.

The cast includes Trishelle Cannatella ("Real World: Las Vegas," "Dukes of Hazard II"), Rachel Sterling (Pussycat Dolls, Maxim Cover Model), Jerry Ferris ("The Bachelorette," "CSI"), Jaclyn Page ("Swimming") and Ryan Burnham ("Nice Package," "Channel One News"). The series intertwines the fictional plotlines of the cast with a travelogue approach as each episode passes through some of the hottest locations in a different cosmopolitan city.

VIP Passport also has the feel of a lifestyle magazine as real-life, recognized designers, photographers, artisans, restaurateurs and connoisseurs interact with the cast. The show builds on this by including real performances from up-and-coming musical acts, and adds some late-night spice by featuring the hottest dance floors in the hippest clubs in destination cities like Paris, New York, Milan, Rio, Los Angeles, Tokyo, Las Vegas, and Rome. Along the way, viewers enjoy once in a lifetime experiences like rehearsing with Cirque du Soleil, hobnobbing in the gifting suite at the MTV Video Music Awards, and shopping for $25 million penthouses.

Not just content to show viewers the good life, VIP Passport will give away as many as three of the world's most sought after cars every week - a Porsche Cayman, a Mercedes SL550, and a Hummer H2. Plans are underway to unveil a special pre-premiere sweepstakes, in which one lucky winner will win an SL550. Details will be available on the show's website (www.vippassport.tv) when it launches later this week. Channels and times for the series will also be found at this site - as well as background information on the cast and episodes - and special brand name and VIP Passport-branded merchandise for viewers who want to display their affiliation with the VIP Passport lifestyle.
