TVgasm Recaps - Miscellaneous TV: Teargasm: R.I.P. Everwood

So Everwood is cancelled. Over. Done. Why can’t I get over it? I’ve loved and lost shows before (Angel? Arrested Development? Sadly, the list goes on and on… and on), so why does this one feel so Paris Hilton’s Music Video Bad? Things were looking bad from the start when The WB decided to move Everwood to the death slot that not even Donald Trump’s hair could survive for too long: Thursdays at 9 PM. The stench of cancellation lingered as the show went off the air for a three month hiatus and reached its zenith of UH OH when the WB and UPN announced their merger this past winter. But then things started to perk up: 7th Heaven was being put out to pasture after it had converted millions to its non-denominational cult; Chad Michael Murray had already married every single girl on One Tree Hill, and thus it seemed that people had started losing interest in the show; the pilots for the new CW came back without much reverie. Pretty soon it was easy to imagine hanging out in Everwood for another few seasons at least. The CW even made the decision to bring back Veronica Mars, a show with even worse ratings than Everwood. And then BAM! E! Online and USA Today held Save One Show polls that rallied for One Tree Hill, and seven million people tuned in to watch the Camdens have a bunch of twin devil babies on 7th Heaven, and all of a sudden the new CW president Dawn Ostroff was saying how sorry she was to have to let Everwood go. So now it’s over. Sets have been torn down. Writers are being welcomed to new television families (one to What About Brian, another to Gilmore Girls). The denizens of Everwood have gone to the sweet television hereafter, and all we’re left with are the memories. This is a show had moments of HOLY SHIT, that rivaled anything else on television (OH MY GOD! THEY KILLED COLIN! YOU BASTARDS!) and was consistently well-acted (Emily Van Camp – CALL ME) and well written. So I’m going to miss it. To quote my good buddy, Dr. Jake: “I’ll miss you Ephram Brown, and your sullen ways.”

Perhaps it's because all the idiots are watching shows like Trump, American Idol, Big Brother, etc.

Such a good finale. Romantic intrigue (how annoying was that so-called girlfriend of Ephraim's?), long corny speeches, a proposal...and a ferris wheel! What's not to like, I ask you?

I'm with juxtapoeser - I missed the last 30 mintues because as The Svan so kindly put it (really what a charming way he has with words) I'm one of those idiots who watches The Apprentice. I had both recording or so I thought, even double checked and had my little red DVR light humming away for both shows. Later when I went to watch the last 30 of Everwood it was not on my list of recordings (the horror!)

So my DVR lied and I missed the ending.

i didnt want to overkill the everwood thing here, especially since the gasm doesn't normally cover the show, but if there is some kind of demand for it here, i'll put together a recap. i tried not to post any spoilers in this little article, for those of you who didnt watch the finale yet. let's see what gets posted here! thanks.

Oh my gosh I am going to miss this show. I hope they all find awesome jobs on networks with some CLASS.

So sorry you guys missed the last five- I rewound it about 10 times and watched over and over.

While I read TVgasm faithfully, this is my first time commenting. Everwood deserves ample comments. And, it certainly deserves a recap!!
I think the reason the end of Everwood seems so wrong was that it was not it's time. The show had several more years of good material, and even though I loved how everything was tied up, it was too early. Ephraim and Amy are only 19 years old!!
While I have heard that there is no chance of it getting picked up by another network - the actors have been released from their contracts, etc - maybe we can look forward to a reunion movie.

I'm going to miss Everwood also. I watched it from the start. I feel like these characters are my family. I agree with umnata that through the years there were a lot of OMG moments. I shed quite a few tears for the finale. I'll miss all of them. RIP Everwood. You'll be missed.

Umnata, would LOVE a RECAP!

I was dreading Monday night and seeing Everwood end, and predictably was really sad. I too have been watching from the very beginning. This show was slightly cheesy at times, but had such a "feel good" vibe, like you wanted to live there. :-)

I will miss Bright, Ephram and Amy the most! Can't wait to see where they end up.

Everwood was one of my all-time favorite dramas. It was like saying good-bye to family.

ABC Family just finished running the entire series. Perhaps they will run it again sometime.
