New York Goes To Work: Grease Is The Word

I had JUST sworn off fast food Gasmi. I'm on a diet goddammit!! And then I heard the news: this week New York Goes To Work as a fast food employee. Well, I had to do my research, right? What happened next, well, let's just say this was the appetizer.........

 My ass thanks VH1

I wonder how she'll react when she finds out she's working in a fast food joint?

NYGTW20090622b

So not the reaction I thought she was going to have

Wow. She's really excited about this. Ooooooooo. It's because she thinks she's going to eat. She's not very bright, is she? She tells us she's never worked in fast food, but really, how hard could it be? All of a sudden visions of grease fires start flickering through my brain. I feel sorry for the guy that owns this joint. On second thought, I don't. He knew what he was getting when he agreed to this nonsense. Have fun losing all your business jackass!

I've never heard of this place - is it only on the West coast or something?

It cracks me up that she calls it Arch-i-balls. Let's go inside and meet the gang. The owner, Andy, looks like he might just bath in the grease. Either that or he's got an audition later to play a T-Bird. I'm just going to call him slick from now on.

NYGTW20090622d

Slick wants to get New York set up with her uniform, but she wants to know if she can wear what she's already got on. The answer is no. I'm guessing that stripper shoes and greasy floors are not such a good combination.   While New York is getting suited up let's take a look at what she's going to be doing today.

NYGTW20090622e

Slick thinks New York looks gooooooood in her uniform. I'm guessing that's because her boobs are hanging halfway outta her shirt.

Her first task is going to be food prep with Gerry. Gerry gets right down to business, telling New York the first thing she's got to do is the potatoes. I'm liking Gerry already. He's got a no nonsense attitude.

She's got to wash the potatoes one by one so that they can get them ready to make the fries. Sounds easy, right? Gerry tells New York he's going to demonstrate it for her one time, and then she's going to do the rest by herself. She's not too keen on the "one time" thing. I think she was hoping she could get him to do the bulk of the work for her.

Ya big ole meanie.

For those of you unaware of the proper way to wash potatoes, let's listen in on Gerry's explanation. "You're gonna grab the potato, wash it under the water, then after, you rinse it." And then drop it into a big trash can that hopefully they only use for clean potatoes.

I am so glad I got to see that y'all. I have spent hours of my life trying to figure out the proper way to wash potatoes, and at last someone has taken the time to show me.

My Hero

Gerry tells New York she has one hundred and fifty pounds of potatoes to wash. I wonder how many french fries that makes. With that he's going to go check on the kitchen and leave her to the washing. I bet she'll really take the initiative and do a fantastic job on those potatoes.

NYGTW20090622h

Do I have to touch them when I wash them?

Let's just take a look at New York's potato washing technique.

Umm, New York? You can't blow dirt off a wet potato!!

We get slow poke music accompanying her in case you couldn't tell for yourself that she's washing the potatoes too slowly. New York thinks that this sucks, and that the potatoes look abused. I was thinking one that she showed us looked rotten. Can't wait for that batch of fries!

Gerry is over to the side shaking his head and looking at his watch, until he finally comes over to tell New York she's taking too long. He tells us, "People need their fries." Yeah, some people need them less than others, Gerry.

New York responds to him telling her she's slow by asking where his girlfriend is at. He doesn't want to talk about that. But that's exactly what New York wants to talk about. She thinks he needs a little brown sugar.

tv freak:

Congrats on almost completing the season! Great recap btw.

I loved when New York called the customer a bitch! (Pot-Kettle much?) I did, however, get a strong feeling that the "customers" were actors.

twunty mcslore:

Hi PottyMouth!
This woman is a piece of work. I actually kinda sorta love her. She's good TV.

Buuuuut....I feel sorry for anyone who has to put up with her shit. My stack would have blown from the exasperation, and I would have made a nice grilled patty out of the side of her face, whistling while I worked.

Big kiss and hug,
Twunty

Yentapatrol:

Darling how have you not had a breakdown? Seriously, I am totally in awe of you're turning out three really excellent recaps a week. I hope and pray for your sake that next week is the finale, but, selfishly speaking, I confess I'm going to miss your recaps of the little blowup doll.

Hugs XOXO
Yenta

PottyMouth:

tv freak: I also loved it when she called the customer a bitch! I think I might have enjoyed the season a lot more if she had more of these types of tasks.

Twunty: I would have paid to see that!

Yenta: Who says I haven't had a breakdown?!? :) Did you know I'm writing these recaps from inside the walls of the Arkam Asylum?

Thanks so much for reading and commenting y'all. Tonight's the finale!! WOO!

SWAK, PottyMouth
