I don't know if I can handle another dull week of both "24" and "The Inferno." The best word to describe these two shows this week?
"Tiresome."
I remember doing my first "Hills" recap for TVGasm a few months ago, and there was one scene in a beauty parlor where Lauren, Audrina and Heidi were getting all dolled up for New Year's Eve. I was having a really hard time coming up with ways to make this scene funny, so I copped out, and just listed the notes I took from the scene. This caused quite the stir on the message board, prompting Sunshine858619 to post this constructive criticism:
"If you feel that a scene isn't important enough to devote a sentence to it, just skip it all together."
While this was indeed terrific advice, it poses a little bit of a problem when you come across episodes like this week's "Inferno." If I followed the advice to a T, this week's recap would look something like this:
"After the credits, we were immediately thrust into the Inferno dungeon for the elimination match. Jenn cheats and beats Rachel. Rachel cries. The end."
If you had Suzie and Alton coming at you, you'd cower in a corner too
Now that's no fun for anyone, right? Well, let's see what I can do to spice up this snooze-fest a little bit. On the bright side, I will admit that the ending was a little more exciting than I'm letting on. Alright, I lied again, I was on the edge of my seat yelling at the TV, so there may be hope after all. OK, enough farting around; let's get this show on the road.
Last week's episode climaxed - err - ended with Jenn and Susie being chosen for the first women's Inferno. This meant that each needed to win the next challenge in order to acquire the life shield/tree branch/thing that strangely resembles a guitar. This week, we started out on the deck of Team Bad Ass, where Jenn, Janelle and Aneesa were strategizing (read: talking shit). Janelle then told us, "Everybody on our team wants Jenn to get the life shield." Really? Jenn? Jenn Grijalva? Wow. I guess nobody's mentioned the name Tyson Beckford in vain yet. The combination of Jenn's newfound popularity and hanging with homegirls Aneesa and Janelle, seemed to trigger a change in the young alcoholic. These two things must have made her feel like she was back home in the "ghetto" of Martinez, California, because she started acting hard all of a sudden, saying, "I'm ready for this. I expected this. What you want? You want me in the Inferno? I'll go in that Inferno, and I'm gonna fuck Susie up." Word to your moms.
Is kenny doing the "air blowjob" thing from BREAKFAST CLUB?
On the other side of the house, Susie was trying to extend the olive branch of her alliance with Cara to Paula Walnuts and Colie. She told them, "I want to try and win the life shield and send in Rachel, because I think she'd have a better chance of coming back." Paula wasn't buying the whole alliance thing, and told Susie, "Kiss my ass, kiss my goddamn ass!" Just kidding; that would have been great, but in reality, she and Colie just readily agreed to the plan like the followers they are. Shortly after, Paula decided that Susie wasn't clear enough explaining her idea, and broke it down in layman's terms for us idiots back home: "Susie wants us to not necessarily give up, but more or less, help her get the life shield." Thanks Paula, I'll break it down in layman's terms for you: She wants you to give up.

I kept reminding myself why I was watching this crap: "tvgasm recap."
thanks for making it worthwhile. This show sucks; this recap rules.

I agree, L Con. That was such a shenanigan Inferno. Were they just counting it as an "accident" up until the 50th time she did it? She wasn't even trying for the targets until the last one and even then it looked like she was only hitting/pushing the one. Ugh.
The preview certainly has me interested. I wonder if he'll get kicked off for it. That would kind of suck for the whole team even though Ace doesn't really seem to contribute much at all.
Also, loved the "hip-to-knee blur" comment.

Great recap Lcon. I couldn't believe it when Jenn won the Inferno considering that she was cheating and apparenty TJ was too distracted by her eyebrows or something to notice. It sucks that Rachel stormed off like that, although I'd probably do the same if I had lost under those circumstances. God I hate Jenn, she probably thinks she's such a badass cause she beat Rachel in the Inferno...yeah cause you cheated. The rest of the episode was pretty boring so I can't wait to see next week's episode with the Ace drama. Maybe he got used to hanging around with those Girls Gone Wild girls lol.

I can't believe Jen got away with cheating. I was furious with TJ too for not calling her out and disqualifying her. It made me like her alot less...if I was Rachel I definitely would have said something. I remember one other time when someone cheated and won, but I can't remember it. Next week's looks very interesting. I tend to think that in true MTV style it will fizzle out to be nothing though, so I'm not getting my hopes up.

Okay now my thoughts....
INSANELY boring episode, but I think its because the MTV Gods have done us a favor and taken away the cliff-hanger endings... which requires and episode with only one, long, dragged-out challenge.
... Y'know. After all the DQs in The Duel for unlocking flags the wrong way.. you'd think something as obvious as hitting the opponent repeatedly in the head would catch TJ's attention! BOOOOOO!
And then Jenn's little parting shot about how the fact that Rachel's crying makes her like the win even more? WHAT A BITCH!
Janelle, who I had come to kind of like by the end of Key West, is getting more and more irritating. And Aneesa has made me remember why I hated her presence on every single challenge... seems like she's only a "nice girl" when she has no friends.

Whirling Dervish. They do this spiritual spinning dance, it's a part of certain sects of Islam. I was actually pretty impressed with Abram for that reference, I didn't know he had any cultural perspective at ALL.

Don't be too impressed, MalloryS. :-P I'm pretty sure people have used that term in regards to rodeos or farms or something, much more for the "whirling" part than the "dervish".

L Con-- I really do believe that this sums up the entire snooze-fest episode: "After the credits, we were immediately thrust into the Inferno dungeon for the elimination match. Jenn cheats and beats Rachel. Rachel cries. The end." I'm glad my advice was heeded!! :o) Although you did a good job of extracting a recap from this bore of 30 min (that felt like 2 hrs!!) Admittedly, maybe I also liked this recap especially b/c my name was mentioned in the first few paragraphs... :o)
I cannot help it-- I'm TEAM JENN all the way! I do not really feal that she was cheating, b/c beating Rachel w/ a jousting stick just looked like so much fun. Seriously, when did Rachel get dubbed the hard-core challenger? I laughed my butt off w/ her sniveling and whining and TJ going "It's just a game..." Peace out Rachel! Can we send Susie home next? And take Ev w/ her!!
I really also hope Ace doesn't sexually assault Colie b/c 1) I love Ace and he needs more screen time, and 2) Colie doesn't need to be sexually assaulted. Hello? Didnt we all watch RW Denver (COLORADO!) Give that dude more screen time!! :o)
Ok-- well I can't wait to see what next weeks shenanigans are all about, but I fear it will be another disappointment...

I was pulling for Rachel, but I don't think Jenn's cheating was a big deal. She got deducted a point for hitting Rachel, OK, but hitting her stick was smart and obviously not a technical rule violation. Blame the MTV geniuses for allowing a loophole. You do what you have to do to win.
Anyway, we've all seen RW:Denver, so is it really that surprising that she cheated? There's a reason she's not on the Good Girls team.
Finally, Rachel's excessive whining made me glad she lost.

I agree, Rachel’s whining was ridiculous. Like I said in the recap, I don’t get why everyone on the Good Guys donned her as the second coming. She didn’t seem athletic at all on the RW Austin, and she doesn’t look much better now. Keebler on Bad Asses would have whipped her butt.
I don’t think I was necessarily rooting for Rachel to win as much as I was rooting for Jenn to lose. The little celebration dance after she won took my dislike for her to a new level. She looked like she was pretending to be the pink Power Ranger on top of the pillars.
“Pterodactyl Dinozord power, NOW!”
It was just odd that TJ was letting this fly, especially after he was so quick to pull the trigger on a DQ last season for much lesser offenses. I’m not sure if I heard correctly, but when Alton and Susie were consoling Rachel, I could have sworn I heard Alton say, “Don’t worry, it’s not over yet.” While the “Inferno” was clearly over, maybe he meant they were going to protest? Who knows…
I can’t wait for next week. Anything involving Ace touching women inappropriately cannot possibly disappoint. Ace reminds me of the moron cowboy in “Casino” who let the slot machine hit 3 consecutive jackpots before taking it out of play.

L Con - liked the recap. It's bogus that TJ didn't DQ Jenn. God she is annoying.
The scene with Rachel running down the hall crying, with her hands in her face, hysterical. It's like she shamed her family or something.
Is there anything Alton CAN'T do? I bet if they had an origami mission, he would totally dominate.

If there ever was a Real World Road Rules challenge hall of fame, Alton would be the first one inducted.
I also thought it was lame Colie, and Paula went along so easily with Susie. Susie is always looking out for herself behind the cute blonde facade. They should have seen right through it. Susie doesn't have more of a right to be there than any one else, no matter how much she seems to think so in all these shows. But I'll give them a break since they might just be trying to get along and avoid making enemies.
I had a feeling Rachel would flame out. They were hyping her up, but she didn't impress me, for someone with a military background I think she should have been much better shape coming into the challenge. A lot of the "civilians," get into ridiculously good shape in order to do these dumb challenge shows.

I think both Jenn and Rachel suck, but Jenn definitely sucks a LOT more! BTW - I agree with Rock Star - on WHAT planet would Jenn be considered chubby? And of all people to call her that - RACHEL?!?!
Susie is like a menacing albino wood sprite. I love how the bullied from former seasons, come back as the bullies for the new seasons - except for Cara. Cara was a raving bitch on her season, and she stupidly picked that awful pile of rot (Donnell) as her ally. Seriously, pick a winning horse sometime Cara, MMMKAY?!
Did anyone else notice that when Jenn did her Pink Power Ranger stance, like twenty-five Class of 2001 rings fell out of her hoo ha? I think she might have been using her Hoover-Crotch-Suction Super Power to hang onto the platform too - I call serious shenanigans either way.
I'm curious to see if it really was Ace who "assaulted" (for lack of a better word) E. Colie. I'd ordinarily think she wasn't his type, after all Mallory IS an SI swimsuit model - but then he did hook-up with Osama Beth Laden. I just can't call this one!
I would really love to see Ev beat the shit out of Abram though - I think she's the only one man enough to take him.

Watching this show bores me to death.
Thinking about what happens on the show is really amusing.
But reading this recap every week? HI FREAKING LARIOUS.
Keep up the good work, L Con.
(These recaps are the only reasons I watch most of these types of shows, ie The Hills, Real World, Laguna Beach...)

Rachael was a nurse in the army right? Pardon my ignorance, but maybe the nurses don't go through the same boot camp as infantry and people who actually see combat?

SUNSHINE, that's a really f'd up comment. No one volunteers to be assaulted. Think before you type.
As for the cheating Jenn, I was SO yelling at the screen.

I finally watched this ep last night right before I watched the new ep. I didnt think Jenn was cheating that bad in the last two tries- Rachel was holding her stick a really strange way and I would have tried to knock her out too. Hitting in the head was definetly cheating, but a stick check seemed ok. If Rachel used common sense she shoudl have just stick checked her back and then gone for the targets.
I felt bad for her though becuase I know one of the problems when she was on rr was how she overreacted to things and thought it might be in part to her time in the service. She was so upset about losing, I hope it wasn't more of a similar issue.

Bonita, I believe Sunshine was implying that Colie doesn't need to be sexually assaulted because she VOLUNTEERS FOR SEX (not to be assaulted). In other words, the point is that Colie a whore. Although, we didn't see her have a lot of sex on her season of RW. She's more of a desperate whiner than a whore. Jenn took that crown from her and wouldn't give it back.
