Thank God for the "Inferno III." Now I actually have something entertaining to watch on Tuesday nights. Sorry to say, "Dirt" just wasn't cutting it. I will admit I felt a little queasy heading into tonight's Inferno, only because my pick to go all the way, Alton, was involved. Although he should beat Tyrie in almost every conceivable event, if it turns into a test of strength, Alton may be joining CT on a plane home, which would be "wicked retahhded."
All brothers look alike better label them...
Sheesh. I guess there's a little Don Imus in the Inferno wardrobe department.
Let's not waste time this week, and jump right in...
After a quick recap of last week's events, we were quickly whisked away to the new and improved credits, since the teams have now been determined. As stupid as they are, I seem to enjoy them more every time.
Rachel:
"Let me see if I understand you Mr. Producer.
You want me to graze in the wilderness, start running from the bad asses, then get dragged
along by some sort of pully zip-line system while sprawling out on all fours!?
Ok"
Colie and Rachel running like Rob Schneider in "The Animal" is priceless, not to mention, Tonya appears to be naked when they are cycling through the Bad Ass team, which is oddly appropriate. We quickly got down to business this week, and we rejoined the teams in the Inferno dungeon for the Alton/Tyrie showdown. Apparently, this year TJ is arbitrarily selecting the game, because he immediately informed us that the contestants would be playing "Head Rush." I'll let TJ try to explain the rules this week:
Alton does one armed upside down push ups while he waits,
cause he's...well, he's Alton and he can.
"We're going to be hanging you guys upside down, and you're going to be having to collect nine puzzle pieces to build a stacking puzzle. When I say go, I'm going to be lifting up this sheet and that is going to be your key. You're going to look over at this puzzle, and you're going to match it perfectly with yours. You can get one piece at a time, build your puzzle. The first person to build their puzzle will win tonight's Inferno and stay in the game. The loser goes home."
Although the editing was crappy, what they showed was inexplicably efficient on the part of TJ. He must have had his pot confiscated in Customs. The fear that my man-crush Alton would be eliminated was eased, mainly because someone who fears heights probably wouldn't do well being hung upside-down. It has nothing to do with the fact I saw Alton competing in almost every event on the season preview. I'm going with my gut on this one...
The Inferno started up, and Tyrie seemed to be having trouble getting his hands on the pieces, while on the other hand, Alton had already completed half of his puzzle. Tyrie wasn't concerned though, "Well, I'm kind of a big dude. If I'm swinging, I kind of look like more of a wrecking ball than anything. I won't psych myself out. I will not lose to Alton." Damn it Tyrie, you stole that line directly from my notes. While I watched him dangling around aimlessly, I jotted down "Tyrie looks like a wrecking ball. Make sure you explain that it's because he's swinging around violently, and not because wrecking balls are typically big and black." Living in an overly sensitive, politically correct world is the best.
Now I know why I felt like I needed to explain myself. I'll turn it over to Ace for the update on Alton's status: "This is a challenge that Alton's just absolutely ready for. Hanging upside down, doing puzzles." Why's that, Imus? Because he's like a monkey? Not quite - apparently Ace was thinking more along the lines of another black creature of the night: "Alton sleeps upside-down, like a bat." Oh, in that case...
As expected, Alton won easily. I'm not sure that Tyrie even started putting together his puzzle by the time A-Train finished. Our loser wasn't too concerned about the defeat though, saying, "Alton wins fair as a square, you know what I'm saying?" No, actually, I don't. As opposed to what Tyrie, a triangle? "I'm damn sure not going to pout about losing to someone who's been through a thousand of these challenges." Man, the back-handed compliments are flowing now. I can't figure out Tyrie. One minute he's praising Alton; the next minute he's calling him a square. If you looked up the word "charlatan" in the dictionary, I'm pretty sure you'd see Tyrie's picture.

Great recap :) Almost made me forget how boring this episode was!
Whats up with the Alton worship on this show? My memory might be wrong, but I think he's only been on one challenge before this. Now he's some uber-legend and everyone has to kiss his ass? If anyone on this Challenge is the "vet" its Abram.
I can't wait to see (I predict and hope) Jenn go home next week! I only wish it was a Colie-Jenn matchup so we're guaranteed to clean out 1/3rd of the STD's on the show (Tonya is the other third).
I don't like how MTV formats this Challenge (cliffhanger endings).
And *sob* I'm saddened that the Aftershow with Blair was canceled. That show was better than the challenge.

Nice recap. I guess they like to try to edge us. I doubt it'll have the same result as... well, never mind.
shia0bundan, I think the Alton worship is from his prowess in previous Challenges. Abram was in 4 other Challenges, but he only won one according to the terse research I did. I don't think he won many of his elimination events either.
Besides that, Alton is very cute. He's not even my type and I think he has a great smile. Add his seemingly very nice, anti-brainless-idiotic-jerk-off- moron-ass-etc. (AKA CT, et al.) personality and I'd definitely let him in my bed. :-P

I thought the battering ram idea was a great idea. I think Ace said something about kids always wanted to do something like that, and I have to agree, it would have been awesome. Also where was Abe when danny was going crazy on his own team? I'm thinking that Abe was just as pissed but walked off the set or something similar which only made Danny more upset.

Damn it.
I was wondering why I hadn’t heard any mention of an aftershow. It really was better than the show sometimes. How else would we have found out that Casey screwed Bananas the first night of “The Duel,” and that Derrick did her the next night? Those are the things that keep me coming back.
Hey boss,
I know you do the Real World aftershows already, but how about throwing together something for “The Inferno?” You would probably get better ratings for that, and I’ll even fly out for Colie’s episode so that she can throw garbage at me for all the crap I’ve said about her so far. If she hits me in the face 3 times you can give her a subscription to Netflix. You seem to have some pull over at MTV, make it happen!

I couldn't decide if EV (I am going to call her "Elf" from now on, those ears kill me) or Aneesa was being bitchy during that discussion. I came to the conclusion that they are both idiots.
I was sad to see Tyrie go. Alter-egos aside, he's pretty funny. Had he stayed, I'm sure he would have gone Leroy Jenkins on someone.

maybe ct asked tyrie if he 'could take a punch' at the airport.
with any luck leroy jenkins secured us a future without the overgrown pubic haired retaaaaahd.
oh, and i'd give alton reparations. oh yes i would.

This show is boring. I just don't find the challenges very exciting. I hope Aneesa and Ev stay until the end and fight during every episode, it's great. I'm also perpetually trying to figure out how Cara looks so much better in these last 2 challenges than she ever did on her season of RR. Did she just lose the babyface/weight, or was it more?

While I don't think Aneesa went about it the right way, I think what she said to Ev was true. Ev seems to think she has to prove herself to her teammates, when that's not the case since they're not the ones doing the voting. She seems really immature, especially the way she just slammed the door like that. It seemed like everyone was agreeing with Aneesa in the situation.
Danny is such an idiot. He is like a little kid when they get really fed up and just clench their fists. He would even speak he was so angry. Does anyone know if he and Melinda are still together?
I think Alton is weird looking. He has an awesome body, but I have the feeling he is 5 foot nothing. He has also been in numerous challenges.

Good point about the Aneesa/Elf argument, YankeesFan. Ev should have calmed down and been the proverbial "bigger person".
I also agree that Alton is a little weird-looking these days. I feel like his neck is thinner or something. And his teeth are really white...like, almost blindingly so. I still think he's a swell guy, though.

Alton is such a sexy man beast... I'm not sure how many challenges he's actually been on, but the one where all the inferno/battle/whatevers were in the pool, he pretty much dominated everyone in everything, so I feel like it's pretty safe to say that whatever team he's on has an almost un-overcomeable advantage

GREAT recap. Hysterical.
(to the commenters above) This is only Alton's third challenge, I'm pretty sure.
I'm missing the aftershows too :( I love Blair.

Loved the re-cap, L-Con!
I thought that whole Aneesa/EV thing was a little weird. I didn't understand why Aneesa went all crazy on EV. I don't think EV said anything that was insulting to the team. True, EV didn't handle the situation as I would have, but I think she felt she was being attacked for no reason.
I like Alton too but I don't see anything weird about him now compared to before.
The Colie/sex/dildo thing was HI-larious!!! She just sets them up and L-Con spikes!!!!
BRAVO!

To Mallory #3: "Sexy man beast?" That's pretty offensive. You could've stopped your description after "sexy man", hun.
Anyyyyyyway, I didn't see the entire episode. I started in the middle of the Aneesa/EV argument and couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. HOWEVER, since I've seen Aneesa get riled up before for good reasons, I'll just assume she had another good reason for chewing EV out (not literally, of course).
Also, why did they have Alton and Tyrie (the darkest people on the show) in a challenge AGAINST EACH OTHER that had them swinging from the end of ropes. I'm sorry, MTV, but I could've done without that imagery.
Don Imus must be the new Executive Producer for the Real World/Road Rules challenges. :/

I think Alton is considered a 'legend' because he's known for performing well, playing fair and generally just being a nice guy. As for how many challenges he was on... I know that he was on the Inferno (the first one) and I *think* he stayed to the end. And in The Gauntlet 2 he was the captain of the rookie team along with Kina and their team won.

I agree MissKatrina #6, and I'm jumping on the Elf bandwagon too! lol!
I hate the whole, having to wait for the next episode to see who loses The Inferno deal - it sucks!
I wonder if E. Colie and Jenn will turn on each other? That would be fun! Also, I hope Danny Douchebag ends up in some dirty situation with Jenn or Tonya - and Ace!
Awesome recap L-Con - You're my hero! :-)

Re #1-
If I remember correctly, Alton and Johnny Bananas also had sex with random strangers on their shows as well. Why aren't they also part of the STD pool?

Okay, I don't know if Blah Blah is messing around but...How is sexy beast offensive?! I call my husband that allll the time. He IS a sexy beast. Besides, "Sexy Beast" is the name of a Ben Kingsly movie AND Austin Powers called himself that too! It's cute.
And about why the two "darkest" men were going up against each other in the Inferno...well, first it was Davis against Tyrie, then Alton chose to take the Davis' place.

Has anyone else noticed that Hurley keeps getting bigger in each episode? I know they have a lot of food on the island, but he's the only one who has a noticeable weight gain. I think Jorge needs to go on a diet.

1.) I need to start watching the aftershows because that's some juicy (although albeit disgusting) tidbits about Casey, L-Con. Pretty gross though that she's just nothing more than a Challenge groupie.
2.) I didn't really understand the Elf/Aneesa situation either, but it just seemed like two dominant and idiotic personalities smashing into each other.
3.) Alton is the man although I noticed his weight loss and it does make him look very strange, almost lollipop-like.
4.) Rockstar - I agree with you about the STD pool but I'd go even further and say they ALL are. All of 'em are just part of the incestous Road Rules/Real World sex swapping gross daisy chain. Icky icky. hehe.

I just caught the episode today and I was amazed by Janelle's penchant for making up words again: When Ev and Aneesa were having their fight, she tried to soothe the situation by saying to Ev, "Not to be attackful!" She repeated it again and again and I laughed hysterically to myself.

I don't think there is anything wrong with the term "sexy beast." Not sure if you were joking or being serious...
I also agree with KermitGirl22, Cara is absolutely gorgeous, but I never thought she was that pretty on her season of RR.

Cheez, at first I was hoping Janelle was saying "Be tactful." But she kept repeating it and I knew that it was my responsibility to mock her, since it wasn't mentioned in the recap. LOL. Gotta love Janelle!

Couldn't agree more about Cara. I never noticed her until this challenge. She is gorgeous! I even looked up those old playboy pics of her, hubba hubba!
It helps that she is by far the best looking female cast member this time around. No one is even close. Janelle is good looking too. Nice legs!Susie has a cute little bod too. But Cara wins easy.
