Expecting Change? I Wouldn't

reunitedvegas.jpgOver this summer I had my 5 year high school reunion. At first I had absolutely no desire to ever go back and see any of those people, because if I wanted to see them, I would have stayed in contact with them. But, the more I thought about it, the more I thought that I'm doing ok for myself, and what the hell, what else do I have to do? (Nothing.) So I went, and it was pretty much like I expected. The people I spent the most time talking to were the ones I kept in touch with already. After I caught up with the rest of the other people there, there wasn't really anything else to talk about. I should also note that I had to drive, so the alcohol would have greased the wheels a little bit. But anyways, I assume that the Real World Las Vegas Reunion is kind of like a high school reunion, because it's been five years, not really enough time for anyone to do anything significant with their lives, but just enough time to lose touch, and really not much has changed. Oh, and the whores totally got pregnant and had kids.

Frank and Steven were the first two to show up to the Palms, and apparently things look a lot different since the last time they were there. Frank says it's good to be famous, and I'm pretty sure he's not that much of a jackass to mean it seriously, but I just can't put it entirely past him. Then Frank tells us that he wants to live Vegas like it should be lived. I wonder if anybody is regretting how much of a tool they were the last time they were in Vegas...

The two show up to the suite first, and aside from a TV here or there, their suite is the only thing exactly the same in the Palms. Irulan shows up next, and the first thing she wants to do is play some Wheel-of-Fortune. You're throwing your money away Irulan. Well, she gets pretty unruly from all of the losing and a waitress walks up behind her to warn her to calm down. Ok, really Brynn just walked up behind her. Brynn! The two go up to the room, and Brynn tells us that now she's completely different from old Brynn. She's a wife and a mother now, and she's only a gogo-dancer part time, instead of full time, so she's nowhere near as wild as she used to be.

Ho in sheep's clothing.

Next to the suite is Alton. He's excited to see Irulan, because they really haven't talked much in the past year. Irulan says she wants to just be friends with Alton and not have things go anywhere they shouldn't go. I think by that she means orgies, but I can't be sure. Everyone is gathered around, and Alton says that the only one they're waiting for is Trishelle. Oops, he kind of forgot about Arissa. That's probably the one person you don't want to forget. Because you will hear about it. And Irulan makes sure to tell Alton that Arissa will hear about him forgetting her.

You're gonna get it.

Well, next up to the suite is Trishelle, who's sporting some freshly-dyed blond hair.

Don't judge me, America!

Everyone asks if Trishelle has talked to Arissa, and she's like, "Who is Arissa? Should I know who that is? Is that the guy I made out with last time?"

Actual Barbies were harmed in the making of this weave.

Apparently no one has talked to Arissa pretty much since they all left, except for Alton and Irulan, who haven't really heard from her in like 4 years. Well, they're about to, because she walks in. And she looks terrified. It looks like you can actually see her processing how long it would take her to turn around and run away.

crazyeye.jpg

Welcome back, Crazy Eye.

She must have thought it would take too long, because she sticks around. She says hello to everyone, and there's general awkwardness. Then she tells us that "Irulan looks amazing. She looks so pretty, and I love her hair, and I wonder when we're going to have it out."

Watching this reminded me why Irulan is my absolute least favorite Real Worlder of all time - and I've seen every single season except Boston and Denver. The girl's ego is so huge it gets to a room ten feet before she does; she justifies every single thing she says, thinks, or does; she refuses to take any accountability whatsoever for any of her actions (I can think of three or four examples from the LV season off the top of my head). Why everyone was always so crazy about her, I have no idea. She's got the maturity level of a narcissistic thirteen-year-old.

Alton, as she said herself 5 years ago, was a "dirty bird" who lied to her about all KINDS of actions with women - why on earth did she believe HIM over Arissa?? I totally believe Arissa's version of the story.

I always liked Arissa. She never once pretended to be someone she wasn't or tried to scam her way out of accountability like Irulan did. She's better off without Irulan and Alton in her life.

And I have to say I actually feel sorry for Trishelle. I think she was a naive kid 5 years ago who didn't have her family's support and approval to begin with, and her actions on the show boomeranged and created such negative public opinion of her - "Trashelle" - that it seems that's the route she went. Like it was ultimately easier to go along with it than fight it. That had to really hurt.

I'm glad Brynn seems so happy and settled. Frank just makes me laugh - he did then, and he does now. And what was the word on what Steven's been doing? I missed that, if they even said it.

oh, Irulan... as mandymax stated, you yourself admitted alton was a dirty bird... yet you didn't care! did alton's body really blind her to his ways?! I really bet that Alton is lying, but Arissa can't defend herself without getting argumentative so its a no-win situation. Plus the wall she puts around her doesn't allow anyone to feel sympathetic to her when they should.

Frank is funny, living out his wasted "I only want a good girl" Vegas season in the first night. Way to provide some drunken hook-up entertainment in a communal living space. I was worried for a moment Arissa would focus her energy on fighting with Frank about hooking up in the confessional, but she was too focused on other items! :O)

MalloryS [TypeKey Profile Page]:

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ARISSA?? I mean... forget like psychologically or whatever, what's wrong with her FACE? She's either super anorexic or on something or CRAZY, because her eyes are SCARY, and she looks really frail and like... well, like she's dying. OH MY GOD WHAT IF THATS THE SEASON KICKER? That Arissa is DYING. Hey MTV, people don't wanna play that, keep it off.

but seriously. if she doesn't relax her eyes in a big way I dont know if I can watch anymore.

slutty_whore [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Irulan is a hypocritical bitch and Alton is a man-whore.... so really, I believe Arissa as well.

Steven is now a personal trainer and going back to college.

anniedawg25 [TypeKey Profile Page]:

treadingonme you had a 5 year reunion? Sheesh they give out reunions for every year now it seems! Just like schools are doing graduations for every freaking grade now...like 4th grade graduation. Big damn deal! :)

Oh I digress....my thoughts on this ep

1. Who else thinks the Irulan/Arissa/Alton argument is REALLY about a threesome gone bad?!???!? It's just too werid to be about a KISS. Or maybe it is about that. Either way, I have Arissa's back on this.....the look on Alton's face was priceless when Irulan brought it up!

2. Back to Arissa, I totally thought she made her boyfriend up...the response was just so werid. OR maybe she just wants to keep those things secret because she hates these people.

3. EXCELLENT Norbit screen cap, too!!! ha ha ha

Mrs.Meow [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Love the recap - the screen caps made me giggle, especially "Heather, Heather, Heather."

As much as I love Alton, I think the whole situation is really shady, probably more so on his part. However, I do think Arissa had a part in it - they were all a little too close for comfort.

I couldn't stand Frank the first time around, but now he's amusing me. Man-whores are always funny.

Leah3t [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I agree on the threesome gone bad theory! This is way too much fighting over a kiss.
