I love MTV's new policy of showing The Real World in the afternoon. So convenient! This week's episode continued to follow the roommates' intriguing (read: boring) trek through the wilderness as part of their Outward Bound training. I couldn't say I was very excited for this. Last week's installment ranked as the nadir for the season, but luckily, Brooke continued to be a neurotic mess, providing us with endless entertainment thanks to her never ending ability to be shocked, appalled, and aghast at those around her. Come to think of it, the Rocky Mountains are kind of like the ghetto: except instead of bums and crackwhores, there are trees and squirrels. GROSS!

This week's episode started with the kids perched atop a rock. Their main objective was to rappel down, and just in case we didn't understand this task, Jenn elaborated, "The only way to get down the rock is to rappel." Oh really? I thought they'd hop on the back of a giant eagle. Or maybe the dragon from The Neverending Story would fetch them.

Well, faced with the daunting task of slithering down this unforgiving terrain, Brooke completely shut down. She explained that she'd had too much excitement in her system, and she doesn't want to push herself further right now. Huh? What would happen if she had more excitement? Would her head pop off? Would she have explosive diarrhea? Would she transform into some Pokemon creature?

Nevertheless, Chris informed her that he's never had a student get hurt rappelling, causing Brooke to quietly seethe, "I don't like being pressured!" Poor Brooke. This was almost as bad as her nail salon nightmare. SHE'S IN HELL!

Anyway, with plucky music guiding their way, everyone zipped down the rock easily enough. Tyree had some apprehension, and when he reached the bottom of the cliff, he actually cried (was that Dark Kent crying? Leeroy Jenkins?).

Aside from that, there wasn't much drama. Except for Brooke. She slipped into her harness, approached the edge, and then announced, "I don't want to do it." And just like that, she threw in the towel. Total failure. Well, total failure if there was failure in Outward Bound, and as we learned last week, there is no failure. Just less impressive success.

That night, the gang gathered for another gourmet camping meal. Jenn babbled on about how she had a great day, even though she was so scared. In response, Brooke told us, "I don't have the ability to fight the fear... I've had to deal with that all my life." Deal with what? Making excuses for yourself? Brooke should realize she's stronger than she realizes. After all, she braved a five block walk through the ghetto. She can do anything now!

Meanwhile, Tyree explained the reason why he had cried was not because he was scared, but because he felt like he had been touched by God and his great-grandmother. It was kind of a sweet moment; although, it was ruined when he suddenly yelled, "EVERYONE RUN! I SEE PADDINGTON BEAR!!! Oh wait, my bad. It's just a napkin."

By the way, I loved how the producers were still passing this off as an authentic camping experience. Did they think we wouldn't realize that the campgrounds were perfectly lit by the crew -- to the point that there was no campfire burning? Roughing it!

That night, before everyone went to bed in their palatial tent, Chris told Colie that she couldn't participate in the backpacking trip on account of her mono. That was okay, though, because some guy named Adam was gonna get her a magazine instead. WELL! A magazine! That should be a delightful way to spend the day! Actually, Colie was very excited because she had a little crush on Adam, despite his high levels of granola. "I'm looking forward to spending the day with Adam," Colie told us excitedly. Great. I'm sure he won't mind the MONO.
