The Real World: I've Made a Huge Mistake

Coming into this week's episode of The Real World, I was hoping there wasn't going to be too much involving Outward Bound, because we all know those episodes are terribly boring. Or, I was at least cautiously optimistic that maybe they would just show random clips from Outward Bound in passing, and that the episode would not actually be centered around anything related to Outward Bound. Oh how wrong I could be though. Why am I mentioning Outward Bound so much you ask? I made a bet that I could say Outward Bound eight times in the intro, yet I find myself three short. Outward Bound Outward Bound Outward Bound. Ha! I just made $2. Anyways, I apologize for that, but this intro is probably more exciting than anything that happened in this week's episode. But judge for yourself after the jump...

Tycart
Ty beats up a shopping cart!

The show starts off this week with a gratuitous shot of Darnell with his shirt off. That's for all you ladies out there. At first I thought they were just showing him to show that he was still hadn't gone home yet, but then they showed a shot of Jenn sleeping in bed still. Worst walk of shame ever. All he has to do is walk to a different part of the house, but the cameras are there to catch all of it. Ouch.

Stephen leaves a message with Chris of Outward Bound saying that he has to take Darnell to the airport today, so he's going to miss part of the meeting they're apparently going to be having. Stephen tells Chris that if there's a problem to let him know. I think Darnell would probably rather have Jenn drive him to the airport if he had a choice. At least that way he could make out with someone and not have any weird awkward silences where you're terrified your best friend is going to tell you he's in love with you.

Then we we see Davis (remember him?) and Tyrie at the market and once they finish loading the car, Tyrie gets a little violent with the shopping cart. BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T LISTEN!! GODDAMNSHIT!! On the drive home, we hear a little bit of discontent from Davis regarding Stephen. Davis doesn't think that Stephen is ever around the house, or if he is he's just using the phone or the computer and then he's gone. That's funny, because I seem to remember him playing a pretty key part in trying to keep Tyrie from being arrested. That must have just been my imagination and it was Davis helping out, and not Stephen. Davis also said that he doesn't feel like Stephen respects anybody in the house. I would probably have a hard time respecting people in that house too, so I kind of understand why Stephen may feel that way.

Tyrie says that he has a "black interpretation thing" between he and Stephen. Basically, I think he realizes that Stephen comes from a completely different world, and he tries to be pretty understanding of it. I could be entirely wrong about that, but that's what I want to believe Tyrie said. Man, if I was accused of being a racist last week, it's going to be terrible this week.

Tyfashion
Ty beats up on common sense fashion

Tyrie tells us that he's always been pro-black, which doesn't mean anti-white, it just means that he's had an easier time being friends with black people over white. Stephen apparently doesn't have that problem though, because of his "trusting nature" and his "blue underwear." Davis then says that Stephen is "like a white black guy." Tyrie disagrees, saying that Stephen "is the acceptable negro." Tyrie then tells us the acceptable negro is someone who everyone gravitates to because they have so much more in common? I tend to disagree about Stephen. I actually think he's more of a "loser," and I don't think that I would really gravitate to him.

Lovely recap! Loved the Brooke-Crazy Pills screencap. :D

...Boring episode. Ugh, these Outward Bound episodes are SO irritating. Especially because they usually come in twos! Since we're on the 21st episode of the Season (according to MTV Overdrive) shouldn't things be like, winding down? As in.. don't waste episodes on this crap please MTV!

jane:

Thoughts during the episode:
Tyrie is pro-black. What does that mean? … that isn’t kind of… insulting for all involved?

Stephen – “I’m not saying she’s a slut, but, you know, she’s just free-spirited and also slutty. Like a man! But she’s a woman! Let’s keep talking about this.”

Tyrie and Chris shooting hoops while talking it out: a pretty funny piece of contrived bullshit. Love how their basketballs keep getting thrown back to them from under the hoop. I keep thinking Tyrie is just an overgrown child, especially when he tries to talk to grownups. And when he cries. And whines. I don’t really like Tyrie. Also, stop cussing at your boss! Some people call it “unprofessional.” Oh, never mind!

Jenn – “Conversate.” Jenn, words like that are dead giveaways of one’s lacking intelligence! Just look at ol’ Dubya.

That Colie/Stephen argument had a weird dynamic, no?

This meeting is kind of embarrassing. For them. Chris seems more like a babysitter sometimes, if little kids got drunk and fucked all the time. He’s actually kind of good at it. Wonder if he ever thinks his life has become a bit absurd?

Tyrie - “Stupid Big Guy Syndrome.” I wouldn’t want to be a stupid big guy either, Tyrie. But really, I thought his comment was funny and kind of clever, if you caught it.

I kind of like Alex. I think it’s because he’s a very articulate Real World fellow and his observations are kind of… keen. Hm.

At the arrival of the group of boys, Tyrie immediately locates the blackest one and proclaims him his protégé, future leader of the Pro-Black party!

Tyrie – “Honestly, at heart, I’m a big kid my damn self.” I KNEW IT!!

Those guys in that cold water. They should look into a career on competitive reality TV shows!

Fraggle Rock screencaps put a hop in my step.

ashley gold:

Go Fraggle's

MissKatrina [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Treadingonme, I have stopped watching the show and now solely read your recaps. You're doing a great job! (The Fraggle Rock pic made my day!)

While Stephen has always struck me as a bit prissy and particular, I certainly can't blame him for not wanting to talk to/hang out with E.colie and Jenn. I don't even like watching them on screen, let alone getting near them and "conversating". I think it might make my brain bleed.

How could Davis get lost? Haven't they been to this campsite several times before? Or am I simply recalling a previous numbingly boring episode?

southernbelle [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Great recap. Horrible episode though.

Loved the Fraggle Rock screencap.

That's awesome with the whole having to say Outward Bound eight times in the intro thing. For a month, when I was working as a flight attendant, I had an insanely goofy Captain and First Officer. Anytime we were approaching our destination, they would make their final PAs and start saying the most random things ever. Basically it was my job to try to figure out what the theme or secret word was.
Yes, it was unprofessional. But made for interesting workdays. It was only weird trying to explain why Disney World was mentioned ten times (while landing in Toronto), or if Indiana really was the home of Midget-I know, horribly insensitive-Stockcar Racing or if our flight was sponsored by Snickers candy bars. They really satisfy, you know.
So rock on, you deserve your $2.

UglyAllie [TypeKey Profile Page]:

LOVED the Fraggle Rock screencap.

I have concluded that any episode light on Brooke and heavy on Outward Bound is yawn-inducingly boring. If MTV really thinks that their target audience for RW wants to watch people climb rocks, they are severely mistaken. Hell, I'd take last season's tanning salon snore-fest over hiking and mountain climbing.

Blah Blah [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I have been missing Real World (ok, "missing" is a strong word) episodes because my BF doesn't have cable and I do so enjoy our sleepovers. :) My point? Your recaps are GR-R-REAT! I don't even have to actually watch the show to get the humor and what's going on in the episode. Maybe you can think about doing "The Hills"...(sorry)

Btw, I'm black and I don't think you're racist at all ;)

Blah Blah [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Oh yea, and "conversate" is a slang term in the black community. It's just that not all of us got the memo that it's not a real word, yet. :P (Proof: notice Jenn's use of it and remember that she was born and raised in a lower-income neighborhood where slang is the native language)

Besides, doesn't "conversate" sound much better than "converse?"

P.S.
Maybe I'm the only one that is very irritated by Brooke's prissy, spoiled, melodramatic, illogical, manic-depressive ways...I just keep feeling sorry for her future husband and kids ("Mommy's sick AGAIN?!"). She and Stephen should have a priss-off contest where the winner gets to wear a suitably-prissy tiara.

Blah Blah [TypeKey Profile Page]:

P.P.S. During the intermission between my last two posts, Jenn boned me. Eh.

(Love the screencaps)

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict:

If you close your eyes and listen when Chris talks, he sounds like David Spade imitating a crunchy, granola type.

I thought the conversation between E. Colie and Stephen was kind of hilarious. E. Colie is used to dominating conflicts, and Stephen basically called her a bitch; told her he thought whatever the issue was, it was essentially her fault; then politely listened to what she had to say, and promptly cut her off and ended the whole bullshit. E. Colie being struck dumb(er) is always an enjoyable experience for me! LOL!

I'm not really a fan of Stephen's, if he actually WERE a woman, it would be way funnier because it would be like the days of Lacey from Austin. So, Stephen so far has called Tyrie stupid, and felt he was responsible for his own actions; called Jenn a whore (in so many words); and called E. Colie a bitch. He's growing on me...

I thought it was interesting Tyrie's BAC was only .09, that's really just too drunk to legally drive - it's not really like balls to the wall intoxication. Ty Ty has a VERY bad temper, because that shit was NOT fueled by drunkeness!

BTW- if my friend showed any interest in Jenn, I would have done the same thing. It wouldn't have been motivated by jealousy either, it would have been motivated by not wanting my friend to end up with the HIV.

Why is E. Colie on the show? She either obsessively moons over boys, or lays around in bed reading - she reminds me of a depressed 14 year old. With Harvey Fierstein's voice.

Also, I think E. Colie's slurry speech is the result of having been Donkey Punched one too many times.

KermitGirl22 [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Chee-Z... so true about the David Spade reference!

Chris is probably so exasperated with this whole situation and hating having to be on TV with these jokers. I feel like he and Alex's friend (the guy who came to visit from the ASU swim team) are the two "guests" from this season who are like "why the fuck am I part of this mess..."

All the other "guests" seem very happy participating in this trainwreck, though...

Veronica DeBellegarde:

I think Stephen is an ass, Tyrie is unbalanced, Brooke and her pursed disapproving lips are annoying. I don't dislike Colie or Jenn, and I'm liking Alex more and more.

slutty_whore [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Stephen passive-aggressively calling E.Colie a bitch was the most hilarious thing I've seen this season and I just think Stephen was so right on about everything he said.

What I don't like is that Davis misinterprets comments and spreads rumors (he did that during the PJ situation) and from the clips, is going to do that again regarding Tyrie calling Stephen an "acceptable negro."

Treadingonme, when Mercii visited earlier in the season, I believe that Jenn had intimated that Stephen was cheating on her (in the ep, I think we see Stephen making out with girls at Monarck).

Treadingonme, with the material you had to work with, you did a wonderful job with the recap.

sunshine858619 [TypeKey Profile Page]:

LOVED the fraggle rock screen cap!! this recap actually makes me want to go and watch the entire episode... maybe, but not really since outward bound episodes are SO BORING! seriously, MTV, get a clue! what about Real World: CANCUN! (mexico) instead of Real World: DENVER! (colorado)

great recap!! i laughed outloud a lot, and that is just superb! thanks!

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict:

Yeah, I agree Davis is an instigator. I'm not really sure why he does that, it's kind of disappointing.

I'm actually somewhat conflicted about Tyrie because he seems like a good guy most of the time, but that rage issue is out of control.

I do think it sucks that black men and women on Reality TV shows feel like they have to be responsible for public perceptions about their race, based upon their INDIVIDUAL actions. As dumb as pissing on a public street, in front of the cops is, I don't think Davis or Alex would have felt the same degree of shame or disappointment for doing the same thing. I don't think Tyrie represents black men as an entity any more than I think E. Colie represents white girls as an entity (God forbid!). He's a young guy who made some mistakes. Having to bear an additional burden because of societal stereotypes is really shitty, and it's not fair.

I think Tyrie's public drunkeness was stupid, but fairly common for young men of that age. I really think however, that his explosive temper is another story, and he is going to end up paying a very high price for it if he doesn't get it under control. I DO feel he can be very aggressive, and that as nice as he seems 90% of the time, he often operates on a hair-trigger which makes the other 10% a lot more signifigant, mainly because no one knows what's going to set it off (or when). All in all however, I would not put him in even the top 20 of MTV Reality Show douchebags, Tyler takes #1, and SpenTard (The Hills) might actually surpass even him.

E. Colie on the other hand - WHY is she on this show? She's not good looking; she's not particularly smart; she's not funny or fun to watch; she's too unappealing to be promiscuous (although she has definitely tried); she's not nutty - just bitchy (without being witty); she's not well-liked enough to manipulate the other roomies into drama; she's unkempt; she's dull; she's kind of pathetic; she's immature; and she sucks the air out any space she occupies. The only thing that makes her worthwhile is the fact that she and her friends obviously follow this blog, and it makes her crazy that most of of the people watching her think she's a fucktard.

I seriously think she's only showered, on average, about twice a week, she looks like she smells; and for someone who spends so much time in bed, it looks like she hasn't even changed her sheets once! Why so dirty E. Colie?

NYWord:

My thoughts after seeing the past 2 episodes:

Isn't it highly likely that Stephen called the cops on Tyrie? Who the hell else wouldve, couldve, or thought they had the right to shouldve--I really think Stephen's guilty of it cause he thought Tyrie would get busted for assaulting Jazelle, which he didnt technically do.

Tyrie wants to dump Jazelle but he's too nice to humilate her like that on tv. Some people dont realize what they get into when they get on a reality show. Stephen does and I really think it's interesting that Davis is hating on him now, cause he seemed to be the only person in the house who tried to bond with the guy.

He's a weirdo. He can't say to Jenn and Colie's faces what he is thinking, unless the Boss is present and he thinks he'll get brownie points for slamming someone. Colie was right for once that what he did wasnt helpful or professional. She may be a bitch but at least she climbed the mountain. Stephen wormed his way out of it and now he has to dog someone to make himself look "professional."

Pay more attention to what Tyrie is saying. Just because two people are black doesnt mean they have the same "black" experience. What Tyrie said about "the acceptable negro" is actually a classic polemic of African American ontology....Just means that a lot of smart cookies coined the term Tyrie is using.

Remember that the Europeans who enlsaved North Africans did so with the compliance of the very people they were buying and selling. Stephen's ancestors could very well have sold Tyrie's, and that's why they are as different as black and white.

Stephen did something really dirty and it's going to be interesting to see how it comes to light. Watch the last two episodes and you'll see how guilty he is acting now.

Love NYWWORD

just call me d:

This was the most baoring real world I have ever seen.

Do you think the reason Stephen was acting wierd with the hole Jen and Darnel thing, becuase later they have sex?
But that is just what I heard was comming.

Just call me [d]:

This was the most baoring real world I have eve seen.

Do you think that Stephen likes Jen? Maybe thats why he is so whatever about her and Darnel.

JerseyGirl:

Chee-Z, let me know if I'm invading on your reality show personality analyzing turf with this =]:
I think Tyrie's sudden anger comes from his upbringing. From the conversation he had with his father it seems like he's one of those dads who constantly berates his kids for not being good enough and now Tyrie harbors resentment towards him but, of course, could never show it. As a result of constantly keeping his anger in he now reacts in the extreme and goes too far; he can't keep it anymore because that's what he's been doing his entire life.

NYWord, I believe Stephen said the neighbors called the cops because part of the argument took place outside and they could obviously hear. Some Denver natives have also posted on here that the RW house is on the same street or block as a whole bunch of clubs so the police usually stay around there anyway to keep the peace.

I got so fed up with Colie's voice this episode that I started muting my TV everytime she started to talk. I just can't take it anymore. I'm waiting for her bring up that she went to college in LA to the Katrina kids so they can all give her dirty looks. I'm so embarassed that she's from my state. We don't act like that, I promise.

Mgasm [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Great recap! Love Fraggle Rock screen caps! Rock Star!
This episode was so boring. When are they going to stop having jobs on Real World?
Jersey Girl, I have to disagree with you. I was shocked that Tyrie had such a normal father (because he's usually emotionally fucked up.) I thought his dad acted cool about the whole thing. I do think that he has a serious rage problem. Could it be that he is just that type of guy? Also, didn't he say something about playing college football? Maybe he's used to exerting himself more and now he has no outlet...sorry, I didn't mean to get all Dr. Phil on ya'll.
I digress. eColie could not be dirtier. Cheeze, I totally agree with everything you said about her hygienics...I also think I saw her eating a can of beans in her bed one time. She's gross and infectious...literally. Ha!
What is this about Esteban and Jenn hooking up? I thought Esteban was gay for Davis.

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict:

Makes sense to me Jersey Girl! And I'm always happy to share my amateur analysis turf! :-)

I have family in NJ, and believe me, I KNOW E. Colie isn't representative of that state - I think the only thing she accurately represents is a lack of personal hygeine. And how to be immature, annoying and pathetic while still acting like an entitled bitch.

I also do not believe Stephen called the police. Stephen kind of reminds of Lacey from Austin, and Jaquese from SD (I liked them both)- He seems like a pretty straight shooter to me. I initially thought he was kind of an instigator, but I think that might have been the editing. The way he handled E. Colie was brilliance. Sheer brilliance - "OK bitch, good talk! I'm done now." LOVED it!

I'm just going to state (again) for the record, I am not making any judgement calls about anyone regarding Outward Bound. That is a completely fucked up job to FORCE people to do. I actually like camping, and have some experience with wilderness outings, and I can say from experience - putting people who DON'T want to be there in a program like OB or NOLS is stupid. They are a liability to themselves and the other participants. Stephen and Brooke are not excited or happy about the job, and they don't give a shit if E. Colie or anyone else thinks they're letting the group down. And why should they? What do Stephen and Brooke owe E. Colie, Jenn or Alex?

Ronin614 [TypeKey Profile Page]:

I realize this may be an unpopular opinion, but I don't think Colie is as bad as people are saying.

I agree that her behavior with Alex and Corey was pretty lame, but I think that's more a function of immaturity than some total lack of redeeming value. Also, she seems to be doing very well with the kids on Outward Bound.

Also, none of the other cast-mates are really all that impressive either, so why single out Colie for abuse?

slutty_whore [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Ronin, it's not immaturity that allows Colie to throw herself at Alex until he basically has to reject her to her face! I mean, come on, Colie has deserved the abuse because she throws herself in situations in which SHE DESERVES the abuse.

Ronin, if you read the comments on this blog, you would know that the majority of people think Jenn is nothing more than a cum receptacle, Tyrie has rage/anger problems, Davis is an instigator, Brooke is delusional, Stephen is kind of gay, and Alex is a man-whore who needs to keep his dick in his pants.

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict [TypeKey Profile Page]:

#28 = CheeZ.

Yup, I stand behind that statement. Yessiree Bob!

slutty_whore [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Ronin/Anonymous, that first paragraph doesn't make much sense, so let me elaborate.

My problem with Colie is that other RW showmances have had some feeling from both parties: Colin/Amaya, Stephen/Trishelle, Alton/Irulan, Wes/Johanna, and Melinda/Danny, to name a few. In my opinion, Colie wanted to create that same dynamic with Alex, but he just wanted to fuck. When that fact was APPARENTLY clear to everyone, (the roommates, the viewers, any warm body Colie discussed this topic ad nauseum with/to), she continued to pathetically throw herself at him until he had to insult, reject, and toss her away. When that didn't even work, she tried to make him jealous with her boyfriend from home and random guys she met in Denver. And, for all of her hard work of "kissing", she got a disease. Nobody on this board has respect for her because she doesn't seem to have any for herself and she carries herself in a way that allows people to talk to her any kind of way. Alex has rejected her with cold comments, so why isn't it ok for Stephen to do so, as he did in this episode?

anniedawg25 [TypeKey Profile Page]:

HOLY CRAP this was the most boring and anti-climactic ep EVER! Good job with the recap though!

Thoughts:

1. Was it just me, or did those New Orleans kids look TOTALLY uncomfortable when Colie hugged them at the airport? Either they thought she was gross, werid, or maybe got a little too happy to see her, ya know?!?
I don't particuraly think it's acceptable for a 24 year old girl to hug 13 year old boys she just met! heh heh

2. Tyrie was great with the kids, I have to say. Before he started talking to them, they looked totally BORED and maybe felt they could not connect with anyone there! I personally can't wait to see the girls camp though. That outta be interesting.

3. I am not sure what Stephen meant by saying "Colie and Ty have no respect for my feelings and time" during the rock climbing expedition. Did he mean he wanted to get the hell out of there ASAP to catch a plane to his sister's!??!?

4. Chris, the granola boy cracks me up! Major props to him for keeping his cool with these idiots though...

5. Oh, and treadingonme...GREAT screencap with he ridiculous headlamps on those kids.

As a Colie "fan" I'll respond (just like you wanted me too)

She is on the show because you keep blogging about her. This industry doesn't care about the content of the blog, as long as she gets noticed. You haters have payed lots of attention to her..

She needs major sleep time because of the friggin Mono. It takes a long time to get strenth back after that. So she stays in alot of nights and does minimum clubbing. Even if I wasn't a fan knowing the facts I am impressed about how she pushed herself on outward bound.
Smart...She went to a top college on an academic scholarship and graduated Magna Cum Laude, while heading a sorority and working for spending money.
Funny, her tounge in cheek one liners hove me LOL.

Looks...She is drop dead gorgeous. Your looking at a natural beauty, no make-up...lingering Mono...and tonsilitis. Yep, her voice is raspy..Dah
By the way Chee-Z and others how about posting some of your personal photos. I like to see if any of you live in glass houses.

I have fun with the recaps...Some of TV crap is really way out there. I read and watch and come out with several "I can't believe they did that". But your attacks are on such a personal level, WHY?

NYWord:

Ashley,

I appreciate your defense of Colie. Originally I thought there was something wrong with her, like a serious drug addiction, but you're right about the complications from mono. It's possible that she had it before she came to Denver and that's why she seemed to be acting strange.

I'm really getting sick of everyone constantly harping on Colie and Jenn for their sluttiness. It could very well be the editing that makes it seem like they do more bed-hopping than bar-hopping. Alex is as much of a slut as both those 2 girls combined.

Everyone hating on Colie and Jenn....it's just rampant misogyny. I think they both put their money where there mouths are by succeeding with the outward bound thing. It is impressive that Colie did it while recovering from mono.

NYWORD

Ashley:

Thanks NY...Do you think I got through to those who go for the jugular?

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict [TypeKey Profile Page]:
She is on the show because you keep blogging about her.

You seem to be confused, I didn't know who she was UNTIL she was on the show. She is NOT on the show BECAUSE we blog about her, she is on the show because she is an attention whore who thought Reality TV would bring her fame or money. We blog about her because she put herself under public scrutiny.

Sorry, she is NOT drop-dead gorgeous. She lacks the bone-structure and inner-poise that typically add up to drop-dead gorgeous. Her face is too long, her eyes are too close together, her nose is too long and her mouth is crooked - I'm not saying she is hideously ugly, but she is NOT drop-dead gorgeous. Just out of curiousity, if she is so incredibly beautiful - why aren't men attracted to her?

Your extensive knowledge of her college career tells me that you probably know her. She's lucky to have friends like you, because she certainly isn't making any from her appearance on this show. Also, I've had mono - and while it might excuse some things, it doesn't excuse behaving like a bitch. Also, I'm not sure I understand; if she's such an independent, capable woman, WHY couldn't she manage to call a cab and get herself to the ER? She wasn't incapacitated.

As for her performance on Outward Bound, big deal. While she's actually showing herself to have a work ethic, and ability to adapt in different environments she undermines her own credibility by CONSTANTLY bitching about, denigrating and undermining her colleagues - NOT a trait that would be appreciated or supported by OB in normal circumstances. I'm also not surprised that E. Colie doesn't have a problem not showering for days, and shitting in a hole in the woods - she's, well let's say "earthy". OK?

E. Colie is catching negative attention because she has shown herself to be mean-spirited, petty, needy and unlikeable in general.

As for your "challenge" to us to provide photos - why? Why would you assume those of us who don't love your friend are unattractive? Also, I'M not the one who opened up my life to television cameras, I don't have to prove anything to you. If it makes you feel better to visualize me as unattractive, great - do what it takes to make yourselves feel better, and avoid the substantive reasons behind why we don't like your friend.

As for the nutbag who keeps throwing Freshman year Women's Study terms around - grow up. You're a fucking idiot. I am not a misogynist because I don't like how E. Colie behaves. I am disgusted by her desperate and pathetic need to latch on to a man to validate herself. Her entire focus on this show has revolved around how to get a man. It's ridiculous.

I find that women who use the banner causes of feminism to defend socially unacceptable behavior, do more damage to women's causes than anything else. I don't need a "Big Daddy" or "Big Mommy" to define or defend my place in the world. I succeed with hard work, intellect and the ability to function in a world that encompasses both men and women, and embraces their differences.

If she's so smart, and such an achiever why does she NEED a man so much? Why isn't she developing her own life and future? Relationships come together among equals, chasing someone relentlessly is really just another form of stalking.

I never said E. Colie was a whore, or or a slut. That would require actual sexual contact, and as we all know, other than Corey, no one wants her. And I'm pretty sure Corey was throwing her a "kiss-off, courtesy fuck".

The only people I think are whores or sluts are Jenn and Alex, which I've stated many times. Also, I don't believe hiding behind politically correct terminology changes the fact that fucking people you barely know indicates that you have a serious problem with self-esteem. Or that you may be a high-risk sexual partner. These people are fucking in front of cameras, and camera crews - how is that not whoring yourself out, in every sense of the word?

Here's my challenge to E. Colie: Take a lesson from your experience on the show, and don't underestimate the value of kindness and compassion in your everyday existence. Those are traits that you appear to be lacking in your interpersonal relationships.

Ashley:

Chee-z
My excuse for spending time and energy blogging, reading, and watching Colie is that yes, obviously I know her.
Lets get personal, you did open your life to the public by your constant blogging. I have seen your blurbs on other sites as well. So now I get personal. Do you have a life? Or do you live vicariously through others on reality TV?

Ashley:

Chee-z
I am not looking to start a personal war with you. Please disregard my last comment. I could sit and try to correct some of your issues with Colie, try to explain..but I realize my info would be falling on deaf ears. There are rational reasons behind some of what you see. Reasons beyond "editing". Beyond being 22.
You are totally onesided in your blogging, but you do it wonderfully. Your rationals are unique, but they are yours.
Just tell me why the intensity of your hatred towards someone you do not know????

OK - TreadingOnMe (Tom) here are my random thoughts about the (crappy) show and your (hilarious) recap:

"Why am I mentioning Outward Bound so much you ask? I made a bet that I could say Outward Bound eight times in the intro... Ha! I just made $2. "

And you also just lost $2. Darn the double edged sword of making bets with yourself.

Frog nipples! It's not just you! That photo comparison was SPOT ON.

Those poor Hurricane Katrina survivors had to go stay in the wild without plumbing, electricity or luxuries. How is that different from New Orleans after the cane? And this was meant to be a treat for them?

OMG the Doozers! loved that reference! Now I have that song in my head... "Dance your cares away, Worry's for another day. Let the music play, Down at Fraggle Rock"

#17 - I love everything you said about Colie.

#33 - "Funny, her tounge in cheek one liners hove me LOL"
Tounge? hove! I see one of Colie's many virtues is the quality of her fans. The word is tongue, T-O-N-G-U-E, since it is something Colie uses when luring an unsuspecting man to her mono-mouth, you really ought to learn how to spell it properly.

FastBetty [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Let's please not get into a debate about valuable ways to spend our time. I seems very much beside the point.

Ashley, I admire your protective nature; you seem like a loyal friend. I'm sure it must be painful for Colie to read scathing reviews of her character/personal hygiene habits/mental capabilities. However, this blog is supposed to serve as a safe space to rag on whomever we choose. I'm no Hapsburg beauty queen, and my IQ certainly does not break the bank. The idea of exposing my bone structure to viscous attacks, or serving up each of my sentences for syntax scrutiny is a nauseous notion. That's why I'm not on TV. The love-to-hate reality stars trend is not new. It's decades old. I'm sure Colie did not expect to emerge as the very first reality-celeb American sweetheart. It's a pity that she can look behind the curtain and agonize over these personal attacks, but that's the way it goes. Chee-Z contributes to this site by being honest and unmerciful (and funny) when it comes to television. That's the very reason for tvgasm.
The best thing you can do for your friend is encourage not to read blogs like this one. Also, remind her that no matter how beautiful/smart/funny an individual is, there will always be those that find her hideously ugly/stupid/witless.
jane:

I agree with the Colie-defenders. You guys are going a bit far with your judgments.

jane:

... i mean, you've got to realize how fucking ABSURD this site is in the first place. it's fun to make fun of everyone on real world, but really, let's not take our judgments too seriously. we don't know her. and when you start talking like cheezee - this guy really, really does not like colie - you start to wonder about the guy so bent on bringing someone down a bit blindly. of course everyone has every right to do it; i just think it's tacky and a bit embarrassing to take it so far.

TinkerbellAPixie:

I don't think anyone we are talking about (like Colie or Spencer from the Hills) should honestly take what we say seriously. Well Spencer could learn not to be so damned controlling.

We are strangers on a website having fun talkin about TV and the characters on our programs. It's the premise of this site. If it is so very distasteful for you to interact with us there's a lovely little X at the top right of your screen that will make all of us horrible scary people vanish.

I think Cheez is hilarious - it's comments like hers that make this site so much fun for me.

No one forced Colie to go on Real World against her will. It's already been stated that anyone going on Reality TV in this day and age knows full well what they are opening themselves up to. With the TV exposure comes criticism. The thin skinned have no business going on Reality TV.

RealityMonkey [TypeKey Profile Page]:

Chee-Z for president! I have been on this site for years now and have always enjoyed her observations. If you're offended, go find a happy blog that continues to pretend that reality "stars" are wonderful people. It's what B-Side would have wanted.

Michelle_PR:

Right on Cheez. As for Colie and her friends, Boo freakin hoo, if you don't like what's bein said then don't read it, it's that easy. LMAO drop dead gorgeous...

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict [TypeKey Profile Page]:

#42 - Why are you here? DISMISSED!

TinkerbellAPixie, thanks for your comments - I enjoy yours for the same reasons! LOL! Thanks also to FastBetty, RealityMonkey... sniff, sniff... You guys are the best!

Or do you live vicariously through others on reality TV?

Yes, I do. I'm a 650 pound shut-in, and aside from my blogging, I like to spend at least half my day trying locate my own vajayjay. I'm obviously just jealous.

NYWord:

Ashley,

I didnt even think you were friends with Colie. You just sounded like someone being the voice of reason here. A lot of these "bloggers" clearly think the people on TV know them as well as they think they know them because they're watching them on TV. I don't even read the posts of that person you were responding to, but now that I know you're a friend of Colie's I'm glad you told that troll off.

Seriously tell Colie not to pay these kind of trolls any mind. They come onto sites like this and abuse the privelege of free speech because they think they can get away with running their mouths. But then people like you come along, and since you actually know from personal experience what you're talking about, you blow the trolls out of water.

Like I said, the troll's posts are unreadable. They are clearly designed to attack, humiliate, and shame, and not to present an opinion. If they really had anything worth saying they wouldnt have to be mean to anyone they disagree with. They would simply ignore the comment and move on to one that is clever enough to warrant a response, like your comment did for me, because your words enlightened me.

Where's AC and Cami's Left Boob? I think people like us are throwing the water at the wicked witch and she/he/it(IMO) is melting.

Let's see what It has to squeal as It goes down the drain! I'm sure it's gonna be something along the lines of "IF I WAS AS ATTRACTIVE AS COLIE, MTV WOULD HAVE A WHOLE SHOW ABOUT ME!"

That person seriously reminds me of that Mark guy who was always on the RW/RR challenges even though he should be collecting SS...I guess some people can only cling to their long-gone 18-24 year old demographic status through the anonymous world of online commenting!

NYWORD

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict [TypeKey Profile Page]:
I have seen your blurbs on other sites as well.

TVgasm is the only site I blog on.

Michelle_PR:

Oh yeah, great recap Treadingonme :) Haven't seen the episode yet but after reading this I don't think I have to. Keep up the good work.

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict [TypeKey Profile Page]:

#47, Glad to see you're not reading my posts! Have you located a good therapist yet? Good luck with that! ;-)

BTW - As your elder, you should be showing me more respect -- you naughty little dickens!

AC:

It's true, when you put yourself into the reality TV world you're setting yourself up for mockery, criticism, adoration, and the whole lot. That being said, I also believe that you should always put yourself in someone else's shoes. You're not even giving constructive criticism. You're just rattling off stupid, hurtful things for no apparent reason.

Colie is far from my favorite cast member (probably my least favorite with Alex trailing a close second), so this isn't about me "defending her" or anything. I just can't believe how unfounded and ridiculous some of your insults are. Maybe she is a horrible person inside . . .I don't know her, so I don't know. I just know you guys are being remarkably unfair and ridiculous.

I'm all about free speech and saying what you really feel, but even I was offended and disturbed by your comments about her appearance and hygiene. I don't even think you really truly mean those things. It was just way too much and over the top.

I know Colie reads this blog and I personally want to say I think she's like MANY other 22-year-olds trying to figure shit out. So what if she looks "unkept" sometimes . . .we all do. I'm sure the people who post here saying such evil things are no lookers themselves ALL THE TIME. We all go through things. If I had to be on TV during my bad phases(I'm 22 also) when I'm having a bad relationship with a guy and exhausted, God knows the comments I'd receive! I just feel for you, Colie. I may not like you (or know you), but I still feel for you.

Being a human being is tough sometimes. Some of these people don't get it.

Of course, we're all wise enough (or scared enough) not to go on national television. I hope your "thick skin" is also insult repellent. Ouch.

Namaste!

AC:

I was writing this before I read your #47 post, NYWord! Weird timing!

RealityMonkey [TypeKey Profile Page]:

42, the fact that you assumed that Chee-Z was a guy shows that you are not a regular reader/poster here. Whatever your motivation for defending Colie, go back to wherever you came from- Fantasy Land, as I imagine it.

Michelle_PR:

Yikes, people are taking this way too seriously. It's not like a lot of people don't think the same things that Cheez writes, they probably just can't put it into words as well as she does. I for one like her comments and also think that she should write whatever she feels like. Once again, whoever doesn't like what's being said can just not read it. It's not that hard.

TinkerbellAPixie:

Trolls, losers, mysogynists.

Isn't it funny when the people who claim to take the high road end up resorting to name calling?

Plus - Cheez is a woman, I am a woman - not sure we really fit that whole
"mysogynist" demographic.

AC:

I like most of what Cheez says. I find most of her comments funny and enjoyable. But as a respectful human being, I'm repulsed by some of what is being said about Colie.

I don't think you should want to make out with everyone you meet, but I think it's ridiculous how people can just be so nasty for no reason other than for the sake of laughter and bored. It's just not something I can agree with.

Yeah, we could "just not read it" if we disagree, but with that same logic, Cheez can just "not watch" Colie or "not read" the recap when it pertains to Colie, since she obviously has such a problem with her.
