So, the mission is a swift water rescue. The Road Rulers would be trained by an actual swift water rescue team and then would have to perform a rescue themselves. When I heard about the challenge, I thought of two things. A) Did the person who came up with this challenge also pay to watch The Guardian in theaters? B) What are the chances that Sergeant Keach, the head of the rescue team and Mike Holmgren doppelganger, is in the fireman's bowling league and has a custom bowling shirt with the nickname "The Walrus"?

I thought the challenge looked fun, but in typical Road Rules style, they immediately tried to convince us that the task was about a thousand times more dangerous than it appeared. The water was cold...and it was moving! Well, if cold, moving water was so deadly, somebody should shut down Hurricane Harbor right now! I mean how dangerous could it be. It would be one thing if you had to do all of this while Kevin Bacon and John C. Riley had taken your family hostage, but what did any of them have to lose? Would anybody really be that shaken up if Kina got pushed out to sea and never came back?

During practice, Tori did go under when Shane didn't give her enough slack as she was attempting to do a rescue. They were saying how she could have died and I guess some of you could say that this validates what Abram was saying about the water being unpredictable. You would also be a dumbass. I might have been scared that somebody was going to get hurt if it wasn't for the PROFESSIONAL SWIFT WATER RESUCE TEAM that was ten feet away. I was never worried that they were going to get hurt; watching March of the Penguins was a much more harrowing experiment.

It turns out that Tori was pretty much well liked by everybody on the team. She spent a few moments talking about her life growing up and in pageants and her preacher father. I hope she has a secret meth addiction or something, because she is way too nice for this cutthroat game.

The next day, everybody got ready for their mission. Sergeant Keach would be evaluating their performance on two different rescues, each with a different rescue team. The sarge must have been pretty worried about putting an actual life in their hands, so he said that they would also be picking two people to be victims. They would only be given one chance to finish, and if anybody passed through the little jetty and into the ocean, the mission would be over

The first of the big decisions was figuring out who would play the victims, and the teams decided that it would be Adam and Kina, because they are the most comfortable in the water. I don't know about you, but if I was picking somebody to pluck another person out of moving water, I would want to choose somebody who is comfortable in the water. Why pick your best swimmers to be the victims?

Anyway, Adam and Kina went off to prepare to be saved while the rest awaited a dispatch call to rescue them. Once that call came in, the teams (Shane and Susie, Abram and Tori) got into their gear and got into position. Adam was the first to come down the "rapids" and they literally dropped him in the water on one side of the bridge, waited for him to go under, and then rescued him on the other side. I am estimating that he traveled less than fifty yards in the water. Shane was a little surprised at how the current carried him, but he made it to Adam and completed the rescue without much problem.

I was starting to feel a little upset. They should have thrown a couple of cadavers or sharks with laser beams attached to their heads into that river. Something, anything to throw them a little curve ball. Kina was the second to go and this rescue was also kind of weak. It consisted of Kina swimming towards a sling that had been lowered to the water by the rescue team. I guess that is why they picked a good swimmer.

Abram is retarded first of all;
what was he thinking;
Like Adam was saying he had a guaranteed spot -- guess he couldnt put two and two together
But i really like Tori;
She should do well on the challenges

Too bad Veronica is gone. That elimination was the lamest design ever. And sucks that Abe is gone as well. Abe and Veronica were the only reason I was actually excited about the season.

Now there's one less veteran and a guaranteed male scrub in the RV at any time?

Snore. I can't stand the pit crew people (oversexed lesbian, faux-ghetto streetdancer, right-wing nutjob) .. They all have such a character they're obviously trying to fit into. Its pathetic!

Abram is a PSYCHO. He was becoming enraged all by himself. What a weirdo.

I don't like Tori. I liked her until she was hysterical over a fight that had nothing to do with her. Damn its not like he hit her.

what, no comment about adam climbing into tori's bunk the first night after they had all been talking?
and j-unit, not all girls cry during fights. i'd have been standing on the sidelines, cheering their dumb asses on.

I think Abram planned it. He looked much too smug while packing. Otherwise, he's even bigger idiot than I previously thought.

Tori is a moron. What, she's never seen a fight or an episode of RW, RR, or the Challenge? She was bleating she wanted to go home? WTF?!!

Ok I’m a dummy, because I thought Drew’s new disposition had to do with my shooting red-hot laser thoughts of hate into the tv screen in an effort to terminate his existence. Little did I know, it was the new real-time format thingiemagjig. YAY Producers!! Score one for you. That being said, when a perpetually jolly person suddenly becomes subdued, it’s sorta creepy. I’m not sure Drew can win here.

I can’t believe you didn’t screen cap Shane grabbing Adam’s under-nuts when he pulled him from the water. He was already out at that point and it was totally unnecessary...awesome.

Tori crying was the funniest thing ever. Ohhh, pretty pretty pagent queen.

As for Abram. Just...stupid. There really are no words. Well there are, but I don’t have enough time to write them all out. And what was with that weird scene there at the end of the fight where Abe just layed in Adam’s lap while Adam shooed Shane away??? Was that only strange to me?

Where is the reality show that pit's crazy people together? Spencer and Abe would be something to see

Abram is the first "Road Rules" two time loser. And this time, history repeated itself.

I'm not particularly liking this season so far. This episode was just... blah. Dumb mission, dumb people. I can understand Tori being a little scared when she went under the water, but seriously, like J-Unit said, they had a whole team of professionals RIGHT THERE. And then everyone saying she could have died. Wtf, it was literally five seconds under the water.

I don't like Tori. She's just... blah. And why the hell was she crying during the fight? That was really obnoxious, she was safely away from them and I think she just wanted some attention.

Very surprised at Abe's actions, yet sad to see him go. Yeah, he may be a moron and even dumber for actually fighting Adam, but at least he's interesting and not so grating. None of the alumni left interest me, although I do like Shane.

I for one hate new people on these shows. So the fact that there will undoubtedly be a new guy because Abe left sucks. Plus, all the Pit Crew guys seem like total douchebags.

antebellum,

I agree with everything you said!

Although, I have to admit even though I don't really like Tori, I get upset when violent outbursts flare up out of nowhere. For some reason, I just react and don't really know why! I could totally see why Abe lost it with Donnell, but that whole Adam thing was weird - it makes me wonder what we didn't see... hmm...

I think another old-timer should be brought in, I'm thinking Coral, Rachel, Osama Beth Laden, Danny Douche-bag (even though I HATE him!), or Big Gay Dan... Someone who will create some DRAMA!

I used to kind of like Susie, but her over-animated expressions are just really getting on my nerves this season. I still HATE Kina, and her funky-dog face. I think she knows how much viewers hate her, and is trying to redeem herself so she doesn't get voted into the PIT!

As much as it sucks I still watch - I'm so pathetic!

BTW - Happy Birthday J-Unit! Another great recap! :-)

Chee-Z: Unfortunately, almost all of the possible alumni you mentioned are from Real World (except Rachel), haha. Although I agree, they need to have the possibility of other alumni coming in as well.

Chee-Z-TeeVee Addict Author Profile Page:

Hmm... Good point antebellum! :-O LOL!

The newbies just seem dull, or like they're trying too hard - BORing!!

B_ran Author Profile Page:

The newbie guys reek of "Trying too hard". They all seem uninteresting and douchey. They could bring in Darrell or Theo for a veteran.

As for Abram, I thought Donell was a complete jackass, so I didn't care that Abram punched him. Donell played the "black card" waaay too much which always bugs me. I don't blame my short comings and problems on my being black, so I can't relate to people that do. In this season, Abram was just a tool. He had no reason to fly off the handle like he did. He's got some kind of chemical imbalance, I think.

I also agree with Tori's crying being annoying. I don't understand what crying solves in that case. People are fighting around her so she cries? Girls do that on all of these shows, I guess they're just too sensitive.

Susie's cute, leave her weird facial expressions alone. Kina is fair game though, that chick sucks....

Iluvslash Author Profile Page:

I can totally relate to Tori because whenever there is a fight around me I just hide in a corner and cry...I don't know why I just do :-P I'm sad to see Abram gone I actually like him and I think Adam could have lost in the Pit but whatever, he's not exactly the sharpest tool in the shed. Thank god Shane is still around cause I think he's a nice guy and I hope he wins. As for the girls,I guess I'm rooting for Tori because I HATE Kina and Susie is just annoying.
