Now, what about that cast? These casting specials are always difficult because the people who have already been on the show are trying to sound like they are too cool to be on the show, while the people who have never been on the show are apparently worried that they may never be on television again, so they try and say things that they think will get them on television. For both groups, this makes them sound retarded, and although our host Susie really tried, it was clear that she was really just trying to go through a list of questions. However, the lack of any interesting information will not prevent us from making completely uninformed and overly judgmental decisions on all of them.

kina

When Kina first appeared on Road Rules, X-treme, I thought she was going to be one of the nice girls that go on to do nothing. The most exciting thing about her tenure was she was replaced by Angela, finally giving us the perfect mascot should Road Rules ever make a Muppet edition. Since leaving X-Treme, Kina has proven me wrong, and then some. She seems to find herself in the middle of numerous fights, and while I think she has avoided being placed in the Tonya/Veronica/Tina über-bitch category, I believe she is only a few more appearances away from reaching that plateau. This show should give her that chance.

abram

Abram came onto the scene in Road Rules: South Pacific. Initially, I really hated him, but in retrospect, I probably should have awarded him a medal for punching Donell in the face. Since then, he has become a staple on the challenges, and has brought us many of our favorite moments, including a steamy shower scene during The Gauntlet. There have been some crazy pairings among various combinations of Road Rules and Real World veterans, but Abram's relationship with Coral really had us doing a double-take. I still kind of grate when he tries to get serious and play philosopher and it seems like Wes is playing Abram better than Abram ever did these days.

veronica

Do we really need to say anything more about Veronica (Road Rules: Semester at Sea? I think you know my true feelings, so why go into further detail? However, nobody can deny that Veronica is one of the great reality show villains of all time. It will be interesting to see how she manages without Rachel or Tina backing her up, but Veronica always manages to find herself hanging around at the end.

shane

Shane, from Road Rules: Campus Crawl is another great competitor and although he has proven himself in a number of challenges, people continue to believe that he will be easy to defeat simply because he is gay. I like him because he seems to be pretty smart and he really adds a balance that these shows need. He'll get drunk and hook up with the best of them, but has a strange ability to combine that with a sense of logic that escapes almost everybody else that appears on these shows.

susie

I'm not sure why they picked Susie from Road Rules: Down Under other than her previous history with Kina. I'm not sure how long she will last because viewers tend to like big personalities, and I think her tenure in the RV is going to be dictated by how well she gets along with Veronica.

adam

And then there is Adam. I guess he is an OK guy. He has proven himself a good competitor, but is usually a dick to everybody else. He makes his way through these things by playing the bully and if the people in the RV ever vote him for elimination, I think people will want to see him compete with the Pit Crew every time.

I am so excited for this new season to start! For the record, I refuse to learn the newbies names until they make it into the RV...

Abram has always been one of my favorites, so I am glad to see him back. On the other hand, Kina has always been one of my least favorites (is it her hair? her make-up? Ok, it's both). I wouldn't mind seeing her replaced with the beauty queen.

Not so much a fan of the military guy - he looks like he's ready to start drama (while I'm no huge fan of Veronica, it was a little weird for him to call her the devil). Did you see the look on Shane's face when Military guy said that? Shane could take him.

All in all, I am super excited for this to start!

I'm actually sick of the new people already. Fresh Meat was fine, because it was new and the people were all interesting (or left quickly if they weren't, never to appear again). Now it's sort of too much. Not to mention all of the "Pit Crew" pretty much suck.

I'm pretty pleased with the alumni, though. I'm especially happy to see Abram again - I missed him! Not so thrilled about Kina, though. Oh well, you win some, you lose some.

Glad to see everyone in the alumni with the exception of Kina (irritating and not even a good competitor) and Susie (boring).

The pit crew make themselves look stupid with all that trashtalking. They're so over the top, just like many of the Fresh Meat were.

Why is he Abram now? Wasn't he just Abe?

I always confuse Abram and Wes... but now that I think of it, Abram is actually a better-looking version of Wes.

I think this season is going to suck -- why don't they just keep the old formula? Bring on 7 new people and put them in an RV. We've been so conditioned to constant voting and challenges with all of the Gauntlets/etc., that sadly, I don't think they can ever go back to the original way. Oh well, I'm probably too old to care...

CDob,

I was just reading Abram's blog on mtv.com and he says it is "Abram" not "Abe!"

So.....everyone now please refer to him as Abe....lol.

As for the Wes/Abram similarity index I read somewhere (I can't remember the blog) that Wes is Abram 2.0! I got a kick out of that.

From what I've seen so far, the Pit Crew look like a bunch of posers.
