Since Dan volunteered himself into the Pit last week, we see him pitted against Derek. Derek is the new member of the Pit Crew, replacing Abe who went bat shit crazy a few weeks back.
Once we see Dan and Derek in the Pit, Drew gives us the low down on the Pit challenge. It turns out to be the same challenge that sparked the whole Angel/Kina throw down. Since this challenge was basically made to have two people hitting each other, this could get interesting with a Marine who has just been pseudo dumped by his crush (Tori) and a new guy trying to make a name for himself (Derek).
For those of you that aren't familiar with this particular Pit challenge, here are the rules. Two contestants stand facing each other in the middle of a ring and have their right hands tied together. With their free left hand they try and grab 9 different "tags" on their opponents back, once all 9 tags are removed from your back, you lose. Derek tells us he is a wrestler, so right off the bat you are thinking he might be a little quicker and be able to take Dan down. But Dan is a Marine, so he's no stranger to combat.
At first they start circling each other while trying to grab each others back. They dance around in circles for a good 4 seconds. It was so on point with Michael Jackson's video for "Beat It" it was uncanny. Except Dan and Derek aren't street tough's looking to pick a knife fight....or were they?
"Get off my turf Sonny...Ready to eat steel Tubbs?"
Well a few more seconds and it becomes clear that Derek was WAY quick than Dan at this game, and Derek only needed 4 more tags to take from Dan while Dan still needed 7. All of a sudden Dan pokes Derek in the eye as he was going for a tag. Derek dropped like a sack of potatoes and was writhing on the ground in pain. Derek says he feels like he got stabbed in the eye yadda, yadda and goes on to complain for a while. But, right after that he looks up at Drew and says "I'm alright". Oh yea? Just like that? Way to play the sympathy card.
So they reset in the center of the ring and this time, they wear goggles. I thought it would be more entertaining if they had huge helmets and pugil sticks a la the American Gladiators, but I guess I'll have to settle for some swimming goggles. By the way - do they just have these goggles lying around in case someone gets poked in the eye? And if so, why didn't they wear them in the first place? Moving on with the reset, Derek gets to take another one of Dan's tags off and it was just downhill for Dan after that. He got beat pretty soundly - Derek to the RV!
On the RV Tori tells us that she wants Dan back so they can patch things up and Adam re-assures her that Dan will be waiting for them. Tori says well if it isn't him, he sure won't be able to top David's naked entrance. Adam has the brilliant idea of whoever shows up, they should lock him out until he gets naked. Adam does know that they are picking up a guy right? This draws uproarious laughter from the whole bus, but I call BS on the editing. First of all, it's not that funny. Secondly, it looked like one of those montages where they just took clips of everyone laughing at one point in time and slapped it all together in a row to look like everyone is dying of laughter. Personally, I thought the laugh track would've been better suited for right after Angel called Kina a transvestite.

I can see where Adam is coming from, I'm not voting myself into the pit when someone on the RV hasn't gone yet. tori is playing smart by keeping her mouth shut. the pit crew are dumb, haven't they seen a challenge before 'fresh meet' road rules vs. real worl'? anything? you cannot expect to go in there and change the game from people who have done this before. Yeah Adam, Kina and Susie they should go home, have families and stuff but get over it. I can't stand any of the pit crew because they talk alot of shit and don't back it up....mainly the people who have never been in the pit....this is about money no matter what the RV people say stuff about the experience...the RV people are playing to win...so pit start shuting up and start playing the gaem cause bitching isn't going to get you anywhere

i hate tori. when's the last time she volunteered her ass to go to the pit?! she just bitches and moans and doesn't add anything. susie and kina have both stepped up at least once in the pit. i swear, i think the last time tori was in the pit was when she made it onto the rv. it's total crap man. i hate this show (so why do i keep watching it?!)

This esaon road rules has been sort of a nice roller coaster. It's good to see it back. To Derick and David you guys rock
