Rock The Cradle: The Neverending, Insufferable Finale

If you thought last week's episode was like a gallon of mustard on a teency soft pretzel, then you probably couldn't force yourself to sit through the final episode of Rock The Cradle.

What I'm trying to say is that this grand finale was approximately 60 times as long as it needed to be, and included the trifecta of unbearable music competition show fillers: Medleys, Special Performances, and, worst of all, Memories.

Oh, the memories.

Rock the Cradle: Everyone Loves A Trainwreck

In just 5 short weeks, we've made it to the semi finals on Rock The Cradle. I've gotta say, I like this speedy, kick 'em off two at a time approach. This week, we'll trim the fat yet again and get down to the final 3 contestants.

Now, a few weeks ago, when the show went from 9 to 7 contestants, the running time went from 90 minutes to 60 minutes. If we continue to follow that pattern, then this week's episode should be an easy 15 minutes. Right?

Wrong! A 15 minute show would be preposterous. And so instead we get 15 minutes of entertainment, and 45 minutes of filler. Hooray!

Rock The Cradle: The One With Two Losers

AND NEXT WEEK, WE'RE SENDING YOU ALL HOME

Say what you want about MTV, but there's no denying it is a network that listens to its audience. I lamented that 90 minutes was far too long of a running time for this over-produced open mike night, and MTV shortened it to a 60 minute program. I complained that I hated having to wait until the end of the show to find out who was being sent home, and this week MTV did the dirty deed in the middle of the show (ok, still not the beginning, but baby steps.) And finally, I whined that I didn't want this show sucking up any more of my life, and MTV mercifully decided to vote off two contestants this week to bring us even closer to the grand finale.

So thank you, MTV, for your improvements on Rock the Cradle.

And now that I've said my piece, let's get this over with.

Rock The Cradle: Look, just try not to mess it up too bad. Ok, kid?

I don't want to seem vain, but I'm going to go ahead and quote myself from my recap last week, "You just KNOW there is going to be an episode where the contestants have to sing their parents' hit songs."

Folks, that episode is here already! The title of this week's show is "Parent's Mega-Hit."

In their painfully confused efforts to differentiate themselves from their famous parents, these young stars are going to sing their parents' hit songs. High. Way. To. The. Danger Zone!

Rock The Cradle: Shirts Optional

We've had a whole week to recover from the non-stop excitement of last week's premiere episode, and now Rock The Cradle is back. And this week, one of these young lovelies will get a serious dose of rejection from someone other than their famous 'rents.

Who will it be? You don't find out until the very very end. So get comfortable and make yourselves a stiff drink. It's gonna be a long ride.

Rock The Cradle:"Mom! Dad! Look at Me!"

If you've ever wondered what it would be like to grow up as the child of a legendary musician who everyone cares about, you're in the same boat as most of the contestants on MTV's new show Rock The Cradle.

For your viewing pleasure, MTV has lumped together 9 offspring of rock and pop stars that you'd nearly forgotten about. It's a line up that has me asking, "What's happening in the lives of the little Springsteins and Bon Jovis of the world?" But, ok, so instead we get the daughter of one of the members of the Doobie Brothers and Al B. Sure's son. Whatever, we'll take what we can get.
