The women's field trip takes them to the Warren-Triconi salon for my favorite part of model/reality shows, THE MAKEOVER!! WooHoo!! And, this time there's a small army of professionals to make sure these woman are done right. Not only are the contestants going to be treated to the expertise of both Joel Warren and Edward Triconi, but they'll also have the advice of two agents from Wilhelmina Models and somebody name Sean from Makeup Designery. And let me say right off the bat, that it's not fair to make fun of Edward Triconi's unfortunate, but obvious resemblance. I'm sure that he has to live with snide remarks everyday and I'm not going to add to them. After all, if he's going to have the courage to go through life as the embodiment of a Harry Potter character who am I to criticize.

snape.jpg snape5.png
I'm just saying.

As far as the two Wilhelmina agents go, I'm a little confused. What I really want to know is why women that look like this would be trusted to give top fashion advice.

wilhelmina%20agents.jpg
Seriously, aren't these people supposed to be at the forefront of the fashion world?

After the introductions have been made, the Kimsicle tells our women that, while they're all beautiful in their own right, they need to bring out features that will help them as working models. Kathy, the ambivalent mom, is pretty nervous about the entire makeover thing, informing us that she's cancelled Christmas because of a bad haircut. Honey, have you looked at your hair lately?

how%20long%20since%20christmas.jpg
How long since you've celebrated Christmas?

The makeover SWAT team goes from woman to woman giving a walk through critique. Snape Edward wants to take Karin's hair shorter. Joel doesn't like Hope's hair color. The agents from Wilhelmina want to take a weed-wacker to Kathy's hair and they think that Roxanne needs a more modern look. Joel thinks Sharon's blond hair is too "out there. Fried, dyed and twisted." The agents are in agreement that all Bahia needs is a modern shaping to bring out her gorgeous cheekbones; Tanya needs to get rid of her false eyelashes; and they're definitely not feeling Paula's fauxhawk. But, they save the really cutthroat critique for Melissa telling her that she looks way too 80's and nobody would know what to do with her. Melissa is shocked, having no idea that she looked 80's, but she trusts these guys. The thing is that I don't think it's just Melissa's hair that looks 80's. I think she has a style of beauty that was really popular back then and, short of radical plastic surgery, I'm not sure that a new haircut is really going to change that.

The hair and makeup elves get to work, combing, washing, cutting and drying. Most of the women are loving the attention. Sharon tells us that it's going to be quite an experience for her. I have to say I'm a little sad that they're dying Sharon's hair. I really like the blond doo. Celeste is feeling like a queen, while Bahia feels more and more beautiful as they keep cutting and Karin tells us that she finally belongs among these women. And, then, there's Paula. She's stuck with Snape Edward, who seems to have the same winning personality as the character he resembles. Showing absolutely no tact or sensitivity, he bluntly tells her that she has too little hair to cut and that there's nothing to do, but maybe get her some wigs. Now, you know, if this was ANTM they'd be stitching hair extensions directly into Paula's scalp, because Tyra isn't squeamish about a little blood and a little pain. I'm thinking that maybe Paula would have preferred that approach and I'm feeling a little bad for her. I'd be wanting a makeover too instead of the lame combover they give her. Not surprisingly, Paula is kvetching to Sharon saying, "You can't tell me that this looks cute on my head." And Sharon does this awesome job of reassuring her and being supportive. I am so hoping that Sharon wins this thing. Overall, the makeovers seem to have gone well and all the women look better with the possible exception of Roxanne.

The Leg Up Challenge

After the makeovers, the Kimsicle gathers the freshly coiffed contestants around her and, forcing her brows and cheeks into a semblance of a surprised, appreciative expression, tells them, "Wow, you girls all look fabulous." Kim may have been frozen for a long time, but she can still pull out her trademark happy face from her modeling career.

I think Bahia is shorter (or at least same height) as Hope. They both had heels on and Bahia looked shorter. Judges never comment on that.

fire@will:

Doubt I'll ever watch, but loved your recap. The gallery of make-overs really helped me connect names with faces (I wish every recap had one).

I think the loony, I victim, woman will last a long time, just because she adds so much drama.

Thanks!

lexxi1129:

Great recap, Yenta! I just luurrve this show.

Yep, Sharon was my fav too - Im thinking now that she's gone, the house has lost its only sane person.

I LOL'd at the yoga caption - if I was Sharon I would have said, "'cuse me but can you keep your cooter outta my face? Thanks, doll."

syrill:

"Then, displaying an unusual level of sophistication and good sportsmanship, Sharon moons them in the elevator."

I love the recap. I just wanted to point out that it was Paula that was doing the mooning. :P I went back to check.

syrill:

Great recap so far!

"Then, displaying an unusual level of sophistication and good sportsmanship, Sharon moons them in the elevator."

I just wanted to point out that it was actually Paula doing the mooning. I even went back to check. Haha.

syrill:

Whoops. Sorry. The first comment didn't show up when I checked. XD

TVKITTY:

grrrrrrrrr my 2 faves booted in one episode :( I have the same problem as you Yenta- my picks always go home. I should start rooting for Paula- then maybe we'd have a chance to get rid of her.

In real life though, I'm feeling like I might jump on the Bahia bandwagon. I'm just not sure who I like now though, I'm soooo lost w/ out my grandma Sharon and Soccer mom. :(

lagitha:

I totally agree with Paula--there is too much judgement placed on appearances in our society and I don't want to be judged that way...that's why I choose to NOT take part in a show based totally on physical appearance!!!! Jeez, Paula, the show is named "She's Got the Look", and you want sympathy that the show is judging you on your looks? If you got a story to tell, Paula, go on Dr. Phil.

juddfan:

I think Hope is a hoot, and I think she'll make it to the end just for that, I really like her, she's gorgeous and genuine, but we all know not the winner. Of all the bodies, Paula's was the best . . . . but Sharon is crazy smooth for a woman her age--very impressed, and will miss her, I too thought she might take it, and if nothing else, that woman rocks inner beauty for days . . . did anyone check out the diaries on line, or debut interviews . . . whatever they were, it showed Sharon making jewelry at home, and she's just a doll. Karin was super cool too--she started playing bass in a band at 39--too cool, and her interview in the teaser about being comic relief intrigued me . . . she should be fun to watch. Bahia does look short, but could be the winner fer sure--loved her snort at the life's pain segment--me thinks she's seen a few things in her day too! Surprised they got rid of 2, but I suspect Kathy begged to go . . she talked to her kids and got the feeling they were "happy" to be rid of her overbearingness, and her instinct was to get back asap and continue her suffocation . . . sorry if that's harsh, but puhleeese-- a contract at 3 years old . . . for attention . . . is it me!? I wish those kids luck, and I hope they are good to ol' Kathy, she was a nice lady, just needy!

Loved the false eyelashes . . . not sure they'll be able to bring her around, Paula bored me with her mumbling and whatever, she's hot and she rocked the shoot, so what's the prob, babe!?

Greyhound!!! Too funny Yenta--really enjoying the recaps!!!!!

Clair:

Good point Juddfan - I hadn't thought of Kathy begging to go home, but I bet you're right. "continue her suffocation" - pretty funny.

Great recaps! Wish I could keep their names straight.

yentapatrol:

Hey Guys:

chachi: I went back and looked at some of the pictures of them and, OMG, I think you're right. I wonder if that means Bahia is a shoe-in?

Fire@will: Hey there!! I'll try to remember to do a running picture gallery for you : )

Syrill: I can't believe I mixed their names up. I owe Sharon an apology. Thanks for the catch.

TVKitty: I feel your pain. With Sharon gone, I'm down to Hope and Karin. Of course, that probably means that they're going to be eliminated this week.

Lagitha: I would so love to see Dr. Phil make a guest counseling appearance.

Juddfan: I loved the video of Sharon at home too!! And Karin's base playing won me over as well : ) I was thinking that Kathy was so miserable that they offered for her to go home with the back up plan that Karin or Hope would go if she didn't. I like your idea better because it would make Hope and Karin seem a little safer.

Clair: I'm having the same problem with the names--Oy!! it will get easier after a few more go home.

Thanks for taking the time to read and post. You guys make my day.
Hugs,
Yenta

intense:

thanks for the shout out in the recap!

juddfan:

Thanks Yenta, nice of you to come back and chat!!! Glad you like the idea, we'll see how it goes--there is one of those upcoming scenes things that shows a few episodes in, and I think I saw Bahia and Hope and Karin in them all, probably Roxanne too . . . Celeste is the one name I saw and said, WHOOO!!!??? Took me a minute, should we name her crazy pants! LOL!!!!

marishka:

Is it just me, or is Tanya on the wrong reality show? She should totally be on "Real Housewives of Orange County". And, I'm sorry, but her makeover gave her anchorwoman helmet hair.

There is something about Melissa...I think you got it right, Yenta...no matter what they do with her hair she will always look 80's....think Christie Brinkley and Kim Alexis (when she wasn't frozen). That 1984 California girl-next-door look. Not a bad look to have, but certainly not fresh.

I was sorry to see Sharon go, but I am digging on Bahia. I enjoy the loner emo-kid grown up vibe...like she's the only one amongst them capable of a reality check.

smolls:

Great recap, Yenta! I'm also having some trouble with the names and I'm so upset my Granny is gone!!

Sharon rocked and was, hands down, my favorite!! Now I'm pulling for Bahia for the win!

That Melissa chick reminds me of someone from the early 90's versus straight 80's and I tell you it's her face...so good luck with that one, honey! I do think she's very attractive but definitely not "fresh" as marishka pointed out.

Can't wait to see how this all plays out and if pouty Paula will strike again (you know she will so she can get plenty of "face time" in front of the camera)!!
