smallville10-13-05dIt looks like the people of Smallville are finally beginning to settle down after their last natural disaster. Lex Luthor pulled some strings with FEMA to pump reconstruction money into the town, and things are getting back to normal. That's not to say that everything is going to be the same as before the meteor shower. Now that Clark Kent is really just mild mannered and not the man of steel, he has to get used to a lot of things. He can't run faster than a speeding bullet, can't burn things with his eyes, and no longer has super strengths. In a bit of irony, the limits that he is now experiencing with his physical prowess has really made it all that much easier for him to reach people emotionally. For starters, he can finally attempt the relationship he has always wanted with Lana, and we left the two of them as they were waiting to uh, reach each other emotionally.

Now that we know that Clark and Lana are going at it, people probably have a lot of questions, and we could spend a lot of time speculating about the sordid details of their coupling. I don't think there is that much to it. This is Kansas after all, what kind of sex ed did you think they were getting in Smallville? I'd say the chances of Clark even knowing what a clitoris was are remote, and I bet Lana didn't spend much time trying to find hers, if her string of boyfriends gives us any clue. In other words, I bet it was boring. I'm sure they have good chemistry, and that is half the battle, but I am sure neither of them have the imagination in the sack of say, Lois, or even Chloe. Then again, we know our dear departed Alicia was a freak, so maybe she taught Clark a few things.

But whatever, Lana and Clark wake up in Clark's bed, quite obviously after a little bit of the good stuff. Boring as she may be, it's still a great thing to wake up next to Lana, and I am sure that Clark is thinking the same thing. They look at each other and share a nice little "hi," which is not a bad morning-after greeting. It's surely better than something like "You're not going to walk straight for a week!" or "Get out of here, my boyfriend could come in at anytime!" They wake up when the alarm goes off at 6:30 in the morning, which doesn't seem like a big deal, except that Clark lives on a farm, so his parents are up early, and his parents don't know what is going on. They try and get their clothes together and begin downstairs.

Clark and Lana aren't the only people getting a head start in Smallville. Chloe is preparing to get the hell out of Smallville. You could argue that things have never been more exciting for her the last few weeks since she knew Clark's secret, but with Clark turning human and his brain thinking about Lana and nothing else, there isn't much to keep her around. Just as she is about to head off down the highway, she gets a phone call from some kid named Gabriel. He tells Chloe that she is the one person that can understand what he has to do, and that she has to get out of Smallville. For her trouble, she'll finally get her big story.

Veronica:

I think either Chloe or Clarks Dad is going to die. Because in the comic doesn't his dad die? I wish Clark would get with Chloe, Lana is a wimp and way too boring.

Papercuts!:

Pa Kent is alive and well in the comics.

Vanessa:

I hope it's not chloe but it might be her cuz everyone else
in all the comics and cartoons
are alive.Lana is a nice girl but she really is boring i'm just happy to know he eventually ends up with Lois. And dammit i wanna see JM too.

EdHill:

Actually J-Unit, I don’t think it’s such a great thing to wake up next to Lana. I mean, by then you’ve already had sex with her and now the only thing left is snuggling and talking. Chloe and Lois I can snuggle and talk to. Lana. Not so much.

How dumb did that guy feel after turning the key knowing that he shot both of them anyway? Moron. Granted, it takes more than just turning a key to launch a bomb. Even Jack Bauer can tell you, you need the football!

I hope its not Chloe that dies. I always liked her. She’s cute and slightly chubby. I find that endearing. Why don’t they bring back pete for one episode and then kill him.

TV-OD:

Boring Pete should come back and die - great idea EdHill. I kept wondering if we were going to see JM too. Mama Kent was cracking me up with her "were you safe?" talk!

flymotha:

In the old school version: After Clark graduated from high school, Jonathan and Martha took a vacation to the Caribbean Islands, where they contracted a fatal and rare tropical disease after handling materials from a pirate's treasure chest they had exhumed; despite Superboy's best efforts, Martha passed away, with Jonathan dying soon thereafter. Before passing on, Jonathan reminded Clark that he must always use his powers for the benefit of humanity. After Jonathan's passing, Clark mourned his parents' loss, before eventually moving to Metropolis to attend college.
In the modern version, the Kents are alive.
So geeky of me I know.
I still think it will be Pa Kent who dies. I guess Chloe makes more sense, but I'm in denial because I like her character.

EdHill:

flymotha, your geekiness pales in comparison to me. BEHOLD!

You forget the problem of WHICH superman this is. Since Superman has been around so long, they have split it up into numerous different "earths" so the goofy superman from 1962 can coexist with the one from today, and so on and so on. For instance, all the comics where the marvel and DC characters coexisted are in whats called crossover- Earth. Earth-2 was the silver age superman from 1935 -1955, Earth-1 was the golden age superman from 1966-1985, etc…

This way the modern comic book superman never had a superboy or a superdog in his past.

But the TV show is clearly taking its cues from the films, with similar theme music, visual cues, general Zod, etc. SO it kind of takes place in its own universe. IT follows the general themes of superman, but can do whatever it likes. Which is why Luthor and clark are friends, he meets Lois in high school, etc.

Sweet lord Jesus I am a geek. Im gonna go turn ON ESPN and weep softly.

Mike:

On which one of those other "earths" is Chloe considered "slightly chubby"?

flymotha:

Oh EdHill, don't spew that much comic book knowledge at one time to a woman... good info though :)

Victoria:

Another classic headline, J-Unit. Am I the only one disappointed that Clark got his powers back so quickly? And this death of a loved one? When does that happen? How long do we have to wait? Jor-El made it sound like it had to happen now so that Clark could live. How long does he get to live with this other person who has to die so he could live? God, I hope it's Lana. Then Clark and Chloe can finally be together!

That was so stupid that Clark and Lana woke up in his house when we last left them they were at her place, where she has no adult supervision by the way. So what, did they do it at her place and then decide they would go over to his house for some more action? Where they can and will be caught by his parents. And why were so many people up at 6:30 in the morning.

Did anyone ever win the Smallville season 4 DVDs? If it was me, you can tell me now.

Victoria:

Also did you notice that Clark was wearing something completeley different in the FoS? I guess Jor-el also had time to get him dressed. They tried to cram way too much into that hour countdown. At least they didn't travel from downtown L.A. to Van Nuys in 10 minutes.

Remember when Chloe started writing under Lois's name for the newspaper, because they wouldn't accept her work because of Lionel? I am hoping that was foreshadowing and that Chloe lives, and if she assumes Lois's identity, Clark will end up with her as he should be.

Mike:

Victoria...According to the producers of Smallville, the "death of a loved one" will be on the show's 100th episode (the 12th episode of this season).

Victoria:

So I have to wait for the 12th episode of the season for Lana to die? I don't know if I can bear her until then!
