This week's Smallville was very highly anticipated because it featured the appearance of Aquaman. I am not a huge fan of these cameo episodes, because the characters usually come and go in one episode, and you never see them again. Yes, that is really what a cameo is all about, but I think doing it that way really tends to break up the central story lines and leads to more confusion throughout the season. Even two or three episode arcs would make more sense. The fans love them, however, and it is kind of fun to see how often the writers try to fit in references to the comic books. And let's be honest, anything that gives us a chance to see our favorite hotties in their swimwear can't be that bad.
Even though it's almost November in the real world, it's still summertime in Smallville, and with all of that oppressive Midwestern heat and humidity, it's only natural for the kids of the area to spend some time on the beach of Crater Lake. It's really too bad that frolicking beach movies have really started to go by the wayside. Yeah, there was Real World: Cancun, but then there was From Justin to Kelly, and neither of them hold a candle to something like Weekend at Bernie's or Summer Rental. And what about summer camp movies? Admit it, you would pay to see Meatballs 5 in the theater, and probably Police Academy 8 while you're at it.
You know what I would pay to see? Lana Lang in a two-piece. Unfortunately, despite her newfound willingness to get naked with Clark, we are still waiting for something equal to that pool scene back in season two. Luckily for us, Lois has decided to come back to Smallville, and her bikini made up for the lack of skin displayed by both Lana and Chloe. I do love Lois, not just because Erica Durance is hot (for more pics, try Egotastic), but because whenever she is around, Clark turns into a bumbling idiot. And not only is she back, but Martha Kent invited her to move back into the farmhouse. Clark had a problem living with Lois before, but it's hard enough to find time to have sex when your parents are around, so the last thing you need is somebody else living in the house that has a bedtime past 10 PM. Lois is not naive, so she assures him that she is a heavy sleeper, and they can do what they like.
But really, since we've heard it all before and I am sure we will hear it again, why not concentrate on something productive, like how Lois looks as she dives off of the dock and into the lake. Even if she ends up looking like Margot Kidder in thirty years, you kind of understand why Clark was obsessed as an adult. Lois tries to do a back flip off of the dock, but hits her head and falls into the water. It isn't long before Chloe notices she hasn't been up in a long time, and Clark races in to save her. He is just about to rescue her from drowning, but another guy gets there first. Yes, somebody else can swim faster than Clark, and this random guy carries Lois out of the water and performs some CPR on her.

When Lex looked out onto the water after the dynamic duo ruined his test, did he see the 2 underwater wakes swimming away at lightning speed? If so, should he know right then and there that Clark is "special" along with AC?

You guys are aware that the dude who played Aquaman is that cheeseball from Season 3 of American Idol who sang "Sunshine of my life" to Paula to get to Hollywood, right?

Holy shee-it. That show was practically soft core porn. Lois is hot. I would like to extend an official “homina homina towards Erica Durance. And I felt bad for poor Chloe having to stand there in her fat girl bathing suit. And I like how the writers just go “Oh yeah, and by the way I moved back in throwaway line. Nothing like lazy writing.
If you think that was gratuitous, next episode Lois goes "undercover" as a stripper. This show is getting better every week.
And J-unit stop ripping on Alan Ritchson just because he has spectacular abs. Trust me, its tough going through life being dismissed like that.
This whole thing where all the superheroes where regular clothes designed like their super outfits thing is so odd to me. I mean does Clark really like wearing blue and red THAT much?
Lex really ahs to invest in a lock for his front door. $1.99 at sears. Not that hard. Everyone just keeps barging in at all times, accuses him of something, while lex goes over and pours a scotch, then he says something ominous and turns around. It’s like clockwork.
And who knew Kansas had beautiful mountainside lakes?

I love this show. Even if this show sucked they at least give you pretty people to look at. All of the fish puns were killin me though! Lois is a horn dog - always trying to make out with a hot superhero. Who me...jealous? Great recap!!

Great re-cap as per usual. I just love James Marsters. So glad he has work after Buffy and Angel. Although, he's really looking more like his age now. All that smoking I'm telling you.
EdHill: I also noticed how much Clark wears red and blue. It weirded me out too.
I actually live near-ish the Smallville set. Maybe I should pay it a visit sometime and pretend to be a hired extra.

And I really wanna know who is going to die. When is that episode supposed to air?

The Aquaman episode was way better than The Flash episode. I, have also noticed that Clark wears red and blue all the time, but at least he doesn't wear the same swim trunks and tank top every day. Did they spend so much money on special effects they couldn't have found the guy some other orange and green outfits to wear?
How did dude melt out of that ship completely naked and not only find some clothes but also get a job as a college professor? Can someone address that please?
I am not liking the Clark and Lois foreshadowing. I liked it so much better when they alluded to Chloe taking over Lois's identity a couple seasons ago. Clark and Chloe forever!

I dunno, the dude who played Aquaman had a nice build, but there was something wrong with his head. Angles where there shouldn't have been angles, and kind of smushed in places - like it'd been caught in a breadmaker or something.
As for Marsters, am I the only one noticing him slipping back and forth between American twang and his old British Spike accent?

My husband is a Smallville fanatic! I'm serious - and he's 30!!! When he works late, he calls me not to say he loves me or is thinking about me, but to say: please TiVo Smallville for me! WTH?!!!
For this particular episode, I must've thought I did TiVo it & it turned out that I didn't. Oh well!
