You Just Can't Keep a Good Girl Down -
by J-Unit
Last week on Smallville, the viewers had the pleasure of finally seeing Lois Lane in an episode, and it only took the completion of three full seasons and a relative's murder for her to make an appearance. While she isn't quite the star reporter that she becomes later in life, she has enough instinct to help her on her quest to find out the story behind the death of Chloe Sullivan. Clark, of course, bumbles his way along and saves the day like always, but Lois is always there to take her share of the credit except in the world of Smallville, Lois hands out plenty of solid smack down herself.
Clark and Lois promised they would help each other investigate Chloe's disappearance, so they head for the scene of the crime, a safe house outside of Smallville, supposedly well guarded by the FBI. Upon their arrival, a black helicopter immediately descends upon them and a couple of what were probably supposed to be Special Forces, but actually looked like SWAT, jumped out to capture Clark and Lois(yes, I am avoiding saying Lois and Clark on purpose). Lois ran while Clark stayed to fight the bad guys. Lois got the raw end of the deal because the helicopter began chasing her through the cornfield. As Lois admitted later, it was a very North by Northwest moment. As expected, Clark took care of his end without any trouble, the surprising part was how expeditiously Lois took care of her end. When another special forces came at her, she began to slap and kick well enough that she would have easily been an extra on the next sequel of Drunken Master. The moves were actually fairly lame, and you wondered why the guys didn't just shoot her. You also wondered how any self respecting army person could have been dismissed with moves that wouldn't get you out of a wet paper bag. Clark observed all this and took out the helicopter with his x-ray and the two kids ran off unharmed.
As I said last week, we are getting plenty of insight into the Lois character and how her relationship with Clark develops. The scenes are usually very campy and the chemistry Tom Welling and Erica Durance is actually fun to watch, as evidenced by scene after the little helicopter chase. Lois surprises Clark in the bathroom, who naturally is a little embarrassed that the only thing separating him and Lois is a semi-transparent shower curtain, and immediately goes for a towel. He does stop long enough to check out her backside though, and she is already wearing his clothes. She assures him that he should think so much of it since he has already seen "Clark Jr", and everything is fine until Martha Kent pops in and suspects they have fornicating. But come on Mrs. Kent, Lois Lane is a nice piece of tail, and an older woman, you should be proud of your son.
