This week the pair are dancing a jazz routine. Bangs are definitely a great look on Jessi. Tyce has an "African-Caribbean" routine in mind, which would be great when the contestants are given "African-Caribbean" as a style. Jazz always seems to be the catchall for crazy dances. And this time is no exception, as Tyce has the two imitating birds. In rehearsals they don't seem to have any problems and Tyce seems especially happy with Pasha. Talent is hot.
I guess it's a jazz routine because they're dancing to jazz music? I dunno. Anyways, it's pretty "earthy" as they said. The two are dancing it really well. I think this style is especially suited to Jessi's kind of dancing, while Pasha is just fantastic. Looking at him do this, you'd never know he's a ballroom dancer. Nice job to the both of them.
Some feathers and a glue gun go a long way on this show.
Mia loves birds apparently, so she loved this because it was "the quirkiest, ridiculous, amazing piece" and they "danced it amazing." Great grammar all around tonight! Mia is especially proud of Pasha for excelling in another style. Mary seconds that it was terrific and loved how he brought his partnering skills to another genre. Nigel babbles about the "journey" of SYTYCD and singles Pasha out as a prime example.
Next, it's Jamie and Hok, performing the samba. Last week, Jamie was nervous about the hip-hop, but Hok had her back. This week they're both in the dark as they draw the samba. "This is the guy from The Lion King, right?" Hok asks. Yeah, and it's a Vietnamese Waltz.
Their rehearsal seems to go pretty smoothly. Jamie's perkiness is getting a little grating, but I'm going try to avoid disliking her solely because she's perky. Just trying to reduce my cynical output. Everyone's so impressed with Hok, and we get it, Hok's got personality and the skillz.
There's lots of hip-shaking and shimmying going on. They're both doing a nice job considering neither of them are ballroom dancers, but it's not great. The fact that Jamie's much taller than Hok isn't readily apparent in this routine, which is a plus I guess, but the moves at the end are just a mess.
They're trying to have a girl.
Mia says she drank love juice tonight (EW! [Also, yeah, I bet she did.]) because she's loving everything. She loved the routine, thought they were sexy and especially loved Hok. Mary, on the other hand, did not like it. She thought there were good bits, but on the whole it wasn't up to the caliber of So You Think You Can Dance. Nigel takes the middle ground between Mia and Mary, saying they gave a great performance but the technique wasn't great. He actually says out loud that he prefers the kind of samba they do on Dancing with the Stars with a "bit more close-hold," whatever that means. Whatever old man! The MTV generation disagrees!
Dominic and Sabra are probably the most inexperienced dancers on the show. Nice that they're paired together like that. Dominic started dancing because he wasn't good at sports and wanted to find a way to "get the ladies." He stared spinning on his head, but the ladies still don't come flocking. Wah wah. Sabra started dancing four years ago after seeing a friend dance. She loved it so much and is glad this is what she chose to do for the rest of her life.
Last week they had to dance for their lives. How would they fare this week? They pull contemporary as their style, to be choreographed by the non-famous Mandy Moore. She likens men to creatures in her routine and I wonder what guy dicked her over recently. Sabra, meanwhile, is a bird. They look like they're having fun in rehearsal, but I don't know how good this dance is going to be.
They're dancing to "I'll Stand by You" by the Pretenders and that's strike one against this routine. The dancing is... okay. Dominic and Sabra give perfectly fine performances, but I am completely unmoved. Make me cry, give me goosebumps, something! BORING.

I think I realized that Pasha was cute when he wore his tie to rehearsal last week! How cute is that! And also, he seems like such a gentlman!

As much as I like Anya and Danny and they are lovely together, I'm not sure they like each other very much.

Another fine recap!
I do have to respectfully disagree with you on one couple - Sabra and Dominic. I got chills watching them. I thought the routine was simply gorgeous.
And Sara and Jesus rocked. Their music sucked, but the routine itself rocked.
Can we PLEASE get rid of Baby Oil?

I have always thought Pasha was really hot. Even with the tooth gap. I'm still bummed they but him with baby oil girl, everything she does drives me insane. Lauren is starting to annoy me as well, she just looks so 'dance team' to me. And who dressed her this week? Yikes.
Sara and Jesus were almost screwed by that horrible music. Worst Paso music/remix of Queen ever. But they pulled off the dance itself pretty well.

Well, first off, not EVERY single male dancer is gay. In fact, the only ones on this show who have struck me that way are Jimmy and Jesus and Ricky (sort of). The rest seem pretty straight to me. They just happen to love dance.
I love Dominic now. Last week, I was so mad that Ricky got the boot over him, but this week, he proved me wrong and was awesome. But I can't believe you didn't comment on his line about Sabra falling on his weiner. That was so funny!
I liked Sabra and Dominic this week, Sara and Jesus not so much, Anya and Danny are awesome, Jessi still sucks, Neil and Lauren rock my socks, Pasha is super hot, Kameron and Lacey are great and Cedric pisses me off because look how terrible he was this week. Just awful. He should have left over Ricky. Although Ricky is totally creepy - check out his bio on Fox.com. It's weird...
All in all, great recap!

when Kameron was talking about how he started dancing am i the only one who thought he was going to break into "i can do that" from a chorus line?
One thing i always liked about sytycd is that the music usually went so well with the dance and they werent afraid to use more classical music for some of the ballroom stuff. guess thats over. it totally ruined the paso!

I actually liked Sara and Jesus's performance to We Will Rock you.
It would've been better if it wasn't that remixed mess, but it was different and caught your attention.
Other than the music though.. I thought Jesus did a great job.

Rainbodragon, you kill me! "I Can Do That"....ha, ha. That I can do!!
It's too bad that these dancers are captive to the choreographers routine and song choice, because I thought Sara and Jesus did rather well, considering their respective training. If they'd chosen a different song with more Spanish flare, we might have looked at it differently.
Mmmm...Pasha. What a cutie! Kameron with a "K" may be SYTYCD's resident hottie, but Pasha has a good guy niceness about him that is totally appealing. And Neil doesn't suck eggs, either. But his partner does. Yikes! Exercise your right to just say "no" to crappy outfits and high school pom-pom routines, Lauren. Ugh.
I still detest Mary Murphy and her flounder mouth. And her signature cackle/scream makes me want to throw something at the telly.

I am with you, Krank Mills. I heart Pasha with the fire of a thousand suns (not really, but I like him a whole lot), and the jazz with him and Jessi was my favorite of the night. I also thought Danny and Anya were spectacular.
Dom and Sabra, despite the ridiculous length of the judges' tongue bath of them and seemingly every other person on the internet being in love with the pair of them, were "just okay" to me, to quote Dan Karaty. I didn't get much out of the routine, hated the choreography and can take or leave the both of them (although I like them more than both Cedric and Jamie. Yikes.)

Who the hell is Jamie?
Seriously, is that a dancer on the show?

Several hours later, I figured out. That probably means she needs to go home.

I love Pasha. So cute. Of course, I pretty much have a thing for sexy ballroom-dancing Russians. I think Dmitry was probably flat-out sexier than Pasha, but Pasha is a much better dancer outside of his style. Love him! I was so sad he was in the bottom 3, so I might actually have to vote tomorrow. If they send Pasha home I will be seriously angry.
Danny and Anya are fabulous. Quite professional and lovely, but maybe lack something in the personal connection realm. I do love that they don't do the ridiculous flashing their number for the camera bit. It is so annoying.
Lacey... gosh, she grates on my nerves. I don't even want to like her. But when she dances, she sparkles and I love watching her. She's fabulous. And, yeah, total stealth body. She did not look that toned fully clothed!
