Adam makes a joke about not missing the screams...
And then Mary turns into that drunk girl at a party that leans all over you and tells you how much she loves you no matter how much you say "But we just met and I think you just wet yourself."
Adam loved it too and actually offers some quality advice about hitting the beats right and never dropping character - which Kton did a few times. This is all much more useful than screaming into the mic.
Next up - a Rumba with Courtney and Gev! Courtney tells us Gev looked like a little girl when he was little. Gev tells us Courtney wants to be a teacher! How insightful! It's like watching an issue of Teen Beat.
Their choreographers this week are a new couple - Tony and Melanie. They actually look normal which is a nice change of pace. Although I may have seen Melanie in a drag show once.
Best part of the rehearsal is when they're screaming at Gev to "GRAB HER BUTT! GRAB HER BUTT!"
"And now it rubs the lotion on its body!"
Time for the Rumba! And Courtney's shakin' da booty right off the bat. The dance is pretty great - it definitely looks like something you'd see in a pro-competition. It's super sexually-charged and...
He grabbed that ass! Be proud Tony and Melanie!
Nigel was very happy with the routine. He thinks they have a great chemistry and I agree - I think Courtney's playing her role of mind-fucker quite well with Gev.
Mary loved it too. If she screams she's exceeded her limit for the night. She then goes into technical detail about all of their qualities. It always amazes me how much Mary knows when she's not letting her stupid "hijinx" get the best of her.
Adam thinks it was great - and likes Gev's strength. Adam goes into his "tips for the future" because he also thinks this couple "will be around for awhile". I can't wait until we get to a couple where he's like "Eh - whatever - what's the point? You'll be out in a week."
Nigel cuts Adam off at one point and says "Come on now - we don't have soup and blankets for the audience!" OUCH! Someone doesn't like being upstaged! Nigel and Mary go on to make fun of Adam's lengthy comments...
If there's a God this will be the only time these two sleep together. Otherwise - I don't want to be here for the apocalypse.
Up next - Comfort and Chris dancing a jazz routine! I'm really hoping Chris steps it up this week - so far Vanilla has been "eh".
Comfort hates how Chris takes everyone's food. We see a clip of him eating Thayne's food off his fork.
Awww.... it's gonna be even cuter when they do it with wedding cake.
And I love Comfort's face there - classic! Chris tells us that when Comfort was little she was a beauty pageant girl. Which I don't find surprising. Those girls may look sweet but they are ruthless lil' bitches that will cut you just to get a jar of vaseline for their teeth.
Tyce is giving them an earthy/raw jazz number this week. He calls it "African" and Comfort freezes. (sound of record screeching off the track) I'm pretty sure you could hear a pin drop in every home of America watching this show in that moment. And then Comfort says, "African? That's me!" and smiles. Whew.
Then Tyce brings out sheets and Chris asks "What are those for?" I would have died laughing if Tyce started saying "Well - we're gonna poke a hole in it - and you'll be on one side - Comfort - you on the other..." Turns out the sheets are just supposed to be "mud". Boo.
They start and they're dancing jazz to Marilyn Manson's "Beautiful People"! WHA?! Hope this is good! Comfort seems to be really getting into it but Vanilla just doesn't seem right doing it. I don't think it's ever gonna click with this poor kid. I don't know if the judges are gonna love it but I don't really like it. You know when you feel like it's just a lot of "jumping around"? Yeah.
Begging for forgiveness might be a good start.

FABULOUS recap! First of all, yea! A Victor/Victoria reference. Am I the only one who started humming "Le Jazz Hot" after reading that?
I loved Joshua and Katie this week. They were great!! I also agree that Chelsi and Mark were fantastic. Although Mark seems sooo weird.
Thank goodness Adam was there this week instead of that hag Mia. He is so good at critiquing yet not coming across as an angry byotch.

Great recap! I really liked Matt and Kourtni's routine... they're so in sync... and cute... God I love them. I thought the two ballroom routines (the ones with half-dresses) were so unbelievably good, and the African one completely sucky.
And I must thank you for calling out Mary on her very serious description of the Hot Tamale Train. That was the weirdest thing ever. The whole time she was talking I was like "Are you for realz?" Your screen cap totes made me lmao (me channeling my inner 16-year old girl). Good job. :):):)

Great recap and I also have the Twitch itch. Twitch is just so awesome that anything he does I'll forgive.
I like Napoleon and Tabitha's choreography but I wish Shane Sparks was also on this season for the hard hitting hip hop routines. Napoleon and Tabitha's lyrical hip hop thing they do is cool but I wish they had different choreographers for the more hard hip hip routines because they seem to be lacking in that department.
I like the way this season is turning out, I think it's pretty clear who the frontrunners are and I think the winner is going to be out of Joshua, Mark or Twitch.

So, this is my first comment ever on this site, though I have been a long time lurker. First off I just wanted to thank you for getting this review up so quickly. I always look forward to reading them, but I have to admit it kind of stunk to have to wait until the day the next week's show was on to read the recap of the previous one.
I just have two quick things I feel compelled to point out. It's out of love- I promise. I'm only being hard on you because I care, lol. It's a quick step, not a two step, though I did LOL when I read "two-step". Also, you might have been referring to them (Tony and Melanie) as new for this season, I'm not sure, but it read as new to the show. They were responsible for last years Cha cha that got Jessi kicked off (through no fault of her own, she was sick and couldn't dance), and Melanie actually had to dance it with Pasha on stage that night.
All and all though, great review though, and I can't wait for the next one.

Sourire!
LOL! I totally wrote two-step. :) Sorry - I look at these damn words so long I don't know what my brain cooks up! You should see some of the other errors I actually catch BEFORE publishing! And I totally didn't remember Tony and Melanie from last season. Then again - last year I watched it for fun and didn't analyze every second of it like this year.
Thanks for reading and keeping an eye on me! ;)

Very excellent recap!!
Just so you know -- Tony & Melanie aren't new. They were around last year, maybe the year before that, too. I think it was Tony alone at the time. He doesn't stand out much, so it's perfectly understandable that people don't remember him. (meow)
Is "soup and blankets" an English expression? Like we'd say "pillows and a blankie" here?
It would be awesome if The Travolta Point was an actual dance move. You know.. 1-2-3, degage, relevé, turn, and, Travolta Point.
How did Thayne make that shirt? Was it fabric paint? Cuz if it was beads or embroidery, dude might have a second career.
So did Tabitha & Napoleon come from Randy Jackson's show? I don't keep up with that. I have way too much Randy Jackson in my life from AI once a year. Also, you know. How many dance shows does one country need? I thought maybe Fox stole someone from Dancing With the Stars. Now THAT would be scandalous.
Poor Matt & Kourtni's costumes were truly awful. And I can't look at her without thinking Uma Thurman is on stage, so it's weird for me dawg.

Are you sure Napoleon and Tabatha are from America's Next Dance Crew? As I understand it all of the crews do their own choreography. That is part of the show is how each crew can interpret that week's challenge. I don't think they can have outside help.

I've seen Napoleon on America's Best Dance Crew. He picks the groups that are going to be on the show. I think this fued between SYTYCD and ABDC is just a friendly little rivalry. From what I hear, the producers of this show and AI also produce ABDC, I mean Randy Jackson from AI is now invovled with ABDC, Shane Sparks is now involved with that show, Napoleon and Tabitha choose the groups for the show and also create routines for SYTYCD. Everyone from both shows are pretty well connected with eachother so I think their just trying create some drama when their obviously is none.

Really fine recap.
I'm a fan of Twitch and Joshua - and now Kourtni. A few of the others are really growing on me. Gonna get harder and harder to see them eliminated.
Love Mia's choreography - could live with her never judging. Adam's so much better (but needs to self edit).
I, too, miss Shane Sparks, for both his brilliant choreography and his Spark-on insights. (Sigh!) I guess he is on that "other" dance show. ("So you think your crew can do tricks?")

Excellent recap! So funny and so true!
Like Sourire, I've been disappointed in the amount of time it takes to post these recaps. I'm glad that this week's recap was so timely. I like to read these *jaded* recaps before watching the results show because your's are the funniest of all the blogged recaps out there.
About Melanie LaPatin. Last year she danced with Pasha when his partner (Jessi, I think) suddenly took ill and couldn't compete.
Melanie also starred in episode 63 of TLC's 'What Not To Wear' on 10.22.04.
From the show: Melanie, 44, is a former world champion ballroom dancer who now runs the Dance Times Square Studio in New York City. Vogue magazine has described this studio as "the most fashionable place to learn to dance in New York." While the venue may be fashionable, Melanie certainly isn't. She left fashion behind when she stopped competing, and now wears ill-fitting clothes — some too tight and some too baggy. And worst of all, she only wears one color — black! In this special episode of 'What Not to Wear', Melanie was surprised live on air! Clinton and Stacy will have one week to bring the sparkle and color back into her wardrobe, and to convince monochromatic Melanie that stepping off the competitive dance floor doesn't have to mean stepping off the fashion catwalk.
Just in case someone thought Melanie looked familiar.
Again, thanks for the recap. Oh and by the way, I thinking you might have to get over Thayne - he looks like a good probability to go next week. Sorry.

bigjr, i agree with you but we should probably be careful what we wish for. That probably means Dan Karaty is going to be choreographing a routine this coming week and I HATE him. That said, there are more hip hop choreographers like, in the world, aren't they? Why can't they have Nap and Tab AND someone else doing hip hop?
I feel like the judges have already picked who they want to win, or at least who they want to go on tour (Will, Twitch, Chelsea...) so they're just going to rip on Chelsie and Thayne and Comfort and Chris and Jessica and the others they don't like until they're gone...
Btw, this doesn't belong on this recap per se, but remember when katee made the stupid comment that she wouldn't come back? She's not the first person to have said that on the show, so why did HER saying it cause them to have a shit fit?

Ok, first of all, I love Cat, but that outfit was f-ing rediculous!! What the hell? and, more importantly, why draw attention to it???
Secondly, I do have the Twitch-itch, I must say, I think him and Kton make a good pair and I LOVED the hip hop routine. Personally, I think Kton's performance was better than Twitch's.... altho, I will go in on the whole "smiling" thing.. she needs to cut it out..
Third, LOL big time to this>> "I think Courtney's playing her role of mind-fucker quite well with Gev. " I completely agree.
sidenote: Did Mary find a bunch of Paula's QVC jewellery, crush it up and paste it to her top? Where do they find this sh*t?
Fourth, Jess and Will were ok... I wasn't crazy about the routine and Jess is really annoying. I sort of feel like everyone is coddling her. And Will is super patronizing with his compliments of her. Its like he's scared she's gonna have a nervous breakdown or something... (which I, personally, wouldn't object to b/c then maybe he would get as partner who doesn't suck).. Also, her "saving" the routine by putting her hand down? Waaaaay too obvious. She should have just kept it up..
Fifth, did Chelsea T. out Thayne (Benji 2.0) on T.V.? It was awesome!
Awesome recap bBitz! Much love! :D

oh and Chelsea and MArk are BY FAR my fave couple and the routine was AMAZING! :D

Hey everyone!
Love the comments! You guys rock!
A couple things:
* As far as I know the whole "rivalry" with ABDC is partly due to the fact that they ran a commercial during "SYTYCD" in which they called their show "america's #1 dance show" and that's what cause Nigel to make that quip. It could be friendly rivalry or the stuff of "Rosie vs Donald" - we can only hope.
*I miss Shane Sparks too - and the amount of fun I could make of him with the friggin' hats he always wears.
*Rockstar - there are other hip-hop choreographers other than Tab & Nap - there's Cecily and Olisa. But I do agree they should keep bringing in new people.
*Also - I'm guessing the reason they had a shit fit about what Katee said was specifically to dramatize the whole "choosing between her and her roomie" thing.
*KrispyDixie: LOL about Chelsea outing Thayne - but I don't think that boy can be "outed" anymore than Clay Aiken or Lance Bass (before he actually did it) could be! And he doesn't seem to give a shit - which is why I love him!
Thanks for your comments everyone! I should have the elmination recap up by mid-day Monday.
Cheers, bBitz

My favorite couples, Chelsie and Mark, their dance was A-mazing, Joshua and Katee and Gev and Courtney. I think they have great chemistry, maybe she will break up with her boyfriend!

Melanie and Tony:
I used to watch them compete every year on those programs PBS shows round about New Years Eve -- World Championship Latin and Ballroom or some such thing. When they were in competition form they were absolutely smoking hot! Wonderful presence on the floor, sharp moves, and intense chemistry. I don't know how long it has been since they competed, but it might be ten years now. I'm going to go check Youtube for clips of them, now....

Great recaps once again!
