Taking the Simpsons to School, 2 Times -
by
Many of you may not realize it, but South Park has just started its ninth season. NINTH! If you would have told me, as a fresh-faced high school junior in 1997, that I would be writing about South Park nine years later as a wrinkled, pasty, meth-addicted cubicle-whore, I never would have believed you. But here I am! Time flies when you're losing your teeth, doesn't it?
I made sure to catch the premiere of South Park's ninth season this Wednesday, in an episode entitled "Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina." In it, Mr. Garrison gets a vagina, Kyle gets a "negroplasty" in order to be on his school's basketball team, and his father fulfills his lifelong dream of being a dolphin by being turned into a strange human/porpoise hybrid -- oh, and exploding testicle knees. The episode was everything you've come to expect: offensive, gruesome, cringe-inducing and riotously funny.
It's good to see that South Park is still keeping the show fresh, topical and hilarious, unlike another cartoon franchise that rhymes with "Tha Sympsons" on Fox. Where South Park still has sharp story lines and clever cultural commentary, The Simpsons has turned into a veritable "Saved By the Bell: The College Years", tossing aside any sort of "plot" for a series of pretty lame sight gags and prat falls. Get those Harvard alums some Adderol stat -- The Simpsons either needs a major revamp or needs to be cancelled. There, I've said it. Cancel The Simpsons.
Point being: Watch South Park. It delivers the goods.

The best part of the episode was when you learned that Mr. Garrison's balls were implanted in Kyle's knees to make him taller, and his scrotum was used in his dad's dorsal fin. When the balls exploded, I nearly fell out of my chair.

For me, it was every time they cut to his Dad, with his bruised eye and walker. I couldn't believe how gorey the end was!!
And tell me -- what was that operation we witnessed at the beginning? It looked like a gorilla c-section.

Ok, reading that made me feel really old cause I too was a fresh-faced high school junior in 1997. Thanks for kicking me while I'm down!

Ok, I missed this lovely sounding episode of someone getting a vagina and someone else turning into a dolphin.
What was the point of the show?
And the Simpsons will be history books. I have a feeling this show will just be a blip on the radar years from now.

Hmm...
Yeah, ya' poor ol' bastards.
However, imagine being a "fresh faced junior" IN COLLEGE when THE SIMPSONS premiered (like moi).
How's that for feelin' old?
Shee-it.

You young whippersnappers need to hold it down. And don't splash! Those kids today...
South Park is genius. I missed the new episode but last season was the best ever - Walmart, Paris Hilton, Red Dragon, and the F-ing BRILLIANT Woodland Critter Christmas which almost made me pop a brain vein I laughed so hard. Hail Satan!
Those guys are sickos and I love them.

South Park is amazing, it holds the number two spot on my kick ass cartoons list. Family Guy is the only show that I think knocks South Park down for the count. I can't wait for May 1st to come around when we get to see the Griffin family back in action....And please everybody watch it this time, I don't want it to get cancelled for the third time. :( I agree with the writer about the Simpsons, whenever I see ads for the upcoming new episode I am not turned on by the premise whatsoever I stopped watching new eps of the Simpsons last season cause I didn't find them funny anymore.
