Football and country fans take note. After sixteen years of crooning on ABC's Monday Night Football, Hank Williams Jr. will be closing up shop after this season. The announcement was unofficially made yesterday during production of the opening credits. I was lucky enough to be on set during the shoot, and while nothing exceptional happened, Mr. Williams did receive a warm ovation from the cast and crew (as well as a nifty photo collage from ABC). Don't know the real reason why the trademark opening has been scrapped, but it's safe to assume that the show's future move to ESPN in 2006 probably has something to do with it. Seems like ABC doesn't quite want to share everything with its sister network. Now, if we could only work on getting rid of Ty Pennington...
