March Productivity Numbers to Drop Dramatically

mmod2006.jpgWhile checking Gizmodo to determine if the cell phone I lust over has been released yet, I learned that the first three rounds of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament will be broadcast for free over the web. The only thing that kept my productivity through March at what I would call even a marginal level was that it was next to impossible to find a job that had the pay per view that promised to show every game in it's entireity. March Madness on Demand now allows me allows me to attain unheard of lows in productivity as I watch all 56 games in their entireity. If you want to get in on the action, you do have to sign up, and the webcast will be capped at a certain number of viewers and is still subject to local blackout restrictions. Still, with handy features like a boss button, I think we have a hit on our hands.

And if you want to participate in a TVgasm NCAA Tournament Bracket, please leave a comment or send me an e-mail so I can judge demand.

I'm in. I never went to high school in March because of the tournament. That, and because my real dad is George McFly.

Yes. This is the greatest thing ever because im in a big ten market and those games usually are terrible and they fucked up really bad at switching games last year. this year, no problem.

and yeah, i'd be down for your pool.

no need to enter your e-mail here, I'll post contest details when I know more.

Yeah, bring it on. Can't wait to see J-Unit pick The Cuse to go win it all! Oh... wait... you're not talking about the NIT?

Did anyone else derive primal joy Saturday watching the "Crazies Cam" after the Dukies lost? This UConn grad (me) loved every second of it.

sg-dub,

Well, my other choice is Dartmouth, so you have to some sort of sympathy for me.

My poor hometown. I was so upset watching the cuse play I fell off the treadmill at the gym and hurt my ankle. Orangeman forever! I am just about ready to boycott the tournament if we don't get in.

booooo uconn!

I LOVE to hate Duke. It is sickening how delighted I am to watch them lose. I was away at a touchy feely women's retreat. So much sobbing and snotting, WAY too much estrogen. At 10 pm I remembered the game was on and began prowling the grounds for a TV. The only one was this enormous HDTV in the common area where lots of ladies were plopped, chatting it up about their most intimate, private failures and sadnesses. Here comes me - "Anybody mind if I put on the game?" They must have wondered how Al Bundy got invited. There were no obvious dissenters so I lay down and watched the heart pounding second half. When it was all over I whooped, did a little dance, and text messaged my brother (a fellow Duke hater) "Go Tarheels! It's ya birthday! We gonna party! Like it's ya birthday!" Anyhoo.. I just realized I told this tale that no one but me gives a shit about. What else is new? Sorry.

Poor Syracuse. What the hell happened? Is Gerry McNamara "special"? He looks like he could be chromosomally challenged. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Ohhh...i want in! I don't care that right now things aren't looking good for the Orange, they still have a slim shot to make it to the tournament. I BLEED ORANGE! But if they don't make it, I think Nova's going all the way. And trust me...it KILLS me to type that!

Ahh, Duke-haters. I love it. I thought you had to be from Kentucky (ahem) to have such a passionate hatred. I feel such a strong bond here....

I'm in for the tournament. Bring it on. Murray State is my first-round upset pick.

medlover -

I can assure you the entire state of Connecticut hates Duke. Not so much the team, as they are always obviously good and decent kids, but the media, Dickie V, and the fake fans from around the country. They remind me of Dallass Cowboy fans who aren't from Dallass. The absolute dregs of fandom.

As if we didn't hate them enough, ESPN thought it would be a good idea to devote 3 channels to them (UNC was an afterthought) Saturday night, with an above the basket cam on ESPNU, a Cameron Crazies Cam on ESPN2, and the game on ESPN proper. AND THEY LOST! THEIR SECOND GAME IN A ROW!!

What a bunch of ass-hats. I want an all Big East Final 4 - F Duke and F the ACC.

medlover Author Profile Page:

I apppreciate the Duke (and Cowboy) bashing, sg-dub. And yes I exalted in the game on Saturday night--I loved the Crazy Camera on ESPNU. But I gotta put up an argument for at least ONE SEC team in the final four...the thought of Cincinnati being there makes me want to puke in my mouth a little.

Lizardqueen Author Profile Page:

On Senior Night! Ha! If the Geico Gecko and Admiral Ackbar had a love child, it would be Shelden Williams.

Lizardqueen Author Profile Page:

Neither Cincinnati nor the 'Cuse will be making plans for the NCAA. So much for earlier predictions that the Big East would send a record number of teams. So much for bloviating sportscasters who have to speculate on every freaking possibility under the sun, as they scream and froth in each others faces. Could you please STFU so we can watch the game? And while I'm at it, fuck that end zone camera bullshit. It's always used inappropriately.

EdHill Author Profile Page:

Oh, I'm in. Not that I'm as huge a fan of march madness as some here, it's just that I love filling in brackets.

Think of me as the control group who would pick gonzaga to get to the final four just cuz gonzaga sounds funny to me. Now imagine if they had a team named the "Texas Hershey squirts", I'd pick em every year.

i was going to stay away from this comment section, seeing as everyone seems to hate duke. i mean, i can understand why it's easy to hate them. it's annoying to see your opponent's top scorer (in this case, redick) hit the 30 point mark in nearly every game he plays and not being able to figure out an effective way to actually stop him--

i know ALL about seeing team humiliation...i'm from NY and, well...the Knicks...yeah,enough said.
From an all around sports fan's perspective (as well as from a NY state of mind), it's REALLY nice to see one of my teams doing well. After the USC Rose Bowl upset, the Giants not doing well in the playoffs, and the Jets' perpetual downward spiral (no football pun intended), i am actually enjoying this NCAAB season, with the exception of these past two games. in the end, people are going to either love or hate duke. personally, i love them because they always deliver and are exciting to watch. hmm..maybe redick can come and help out the Knicks when he signs in the NBA..but i seriously won't hold my breath on that one.

^oh, and i'm in for the bracket as well

sg-dub- i get what you're saying about the phony fans and the annoying press coverage, but that's the trend with the best teams..you have to admit that, once a team establishes a record like duke has over the years, it's hard for people who aren't necessarily into sports NOT to want to like them. admit it: saying you're a "Pistons fan" right now sounds WAY cooler than saying you're a "Kincks fan" (if it's any consolation, i have always hated the cowboys and refused to wear that "Starter" front pocket pullover coat that my mom bought me as a kid in protest)

count me in. i've won our work brackets the past two years, so it'll be nice to have some competition.

i'm gonna be in vegas the first four days of the tournament, putting some cash on my alma mater: THE ohio state university. GO BUCKS!

ATCmurph Author Profile Page:

I'd be up for a bracket...

ILL!!!! INI!!!!

davidgrote Author Profile Page:

I want in. I created a typekey account just so I could say that I want in.

LRo9 Author Profile Page:

Yes, please!

plethLaura Author Profile Page:

Yes please to the brackets!

We do one at work where there's big money at stake.

As an Indiana University alum I have to do brackets as often as possible.

What are the chances Steve Alford will leave Iowa to coach at Indiana? That'd be SWEET!

i hope alford does leave for iu. then the hoosiers will stop trying to steal the buckeyes' coach.

hannahthehun Author Profile Page:

I want in. Go Gators!

medlover Author Profile Page:

copygodd, i will be in Vegas as well for the first round of the tournament! I will probably not be putting money on my alma mater, THE university of kentucky though...if we even make it to the tournament...which may or may not happen. I never thought, as a UK fan, I would have to write that. Oh, the shame! It leads me to gamble while hiding in the Caesar's sportsbook. Be there or be square.

I'm in for the pool. My team won't be at the big dance and probably not the little one either. (Providence College)

At least I won't make any "emotional" picks.

JasonR Author Profile Page:

You can count me in for a TVGasm pool, even though I usually suck pretty hard in these things it keeps things interesting after all the fun Cinderella teams have fallen by the wayside. As a NJ native, if Seton Hall even gets into the tourney I'll be happy.

I_heart-tv Author Profile Page:

As a rabid UNC fan, I have to love the Dook-haters. I grew up in NC, and I can honestly say that in elementary school we didn't have class on ACC tournament days - they would bring a tv into the classroom and we would watch basketball. Classic!
That being said, thanks for the link - I am all signed up!
