I think we can all say that the first weekend of the 2006 Men's NCAA tournament had an excellent first weekend. Although I didn't get to watch nearly as many games as I would have liked, and my boys from Syracuse were unceremoniously bounced in the first round, there has been a lot of great basketball. Most of the games were within ten points, and there have been plenty of upsets and lots of exciting finishes.

We have almost 250 people that filled out brackets in the TVgasm group. Right now, the top finishers are Yes, I'm a GIRL (T. Henderson) with 520 points, luck of the irish (M. O'Malley) with 500 points, and M. Hunter (M. Olowinski) and Kenzie2 (B. Wallace) with 490 points. Of them, only Yes, I'm a GIRL has their Final Four intact, so there will probably be plenty of movement this weekend. My team, Boner for Banks is still in the hunt in 8th place, but I will probably plummet because of my disability which prevents me from ever placing Duke in a Final Four.

I would also like to give a shout out to the Dartmouth women's team, which was within three points of a huge upset with 12 seconds left on the clock, but couldn't pull out the victory against Rutgers.
