Well, it's been an awesome season. There is quite a bit of material (THREE hours of Survivor, people, including the reunion), and I don't want you guys to wait any longer. Plus (and I know you will be shocked about this), I have a lot so say, and if I put it all together, the page count would have to be represented via the Dewey Decimal System. So, I'm going to separate the finale into three recaps: the first half of the show (up through the Montage of Defeated Survivors), the second half of the show (from the Final Immunity Challenge to the part where someone totally awesome and not Dreamz wins), and the Reunion. We cool?
So, previously: the entire freaking season. If you would like to reminisce about what happened, feel free to go back and re-read the recaps (because everyone has read them at least, like, five times apiece, right?). But skip the first half of the season. Don't tell anyone this, but it was sort of boring.
But then: It. Got. AWESOME! Remember? Lisi fell! I rewound and watched Lisi fall again! And again! Rocky got booted! Lisi proverbially fell, with her mouth, in confessionals, a whole bunch, and I laughed at her tragic ass! And then she got voted out! And then Michelle fell! And then she got booted sort of randomly and unfairly, but I am going to pretend that it did not happen! And then Ed got booted in the BEST! EPISODE! EVER! And then I had a bad day, so I went back and watched Lisi fall again! And then Alex was a douche a whole bunch! (It's like the past and the future are weirdly connected. Creepy!) And Boo's family was eating well! OMG, and then Yau-man played the idol and saved his own ass at the last minute! And then Lisi fell again, but in my head this time, because it plays on a constant loop during those really long days at work! And Dreamz was a scary zombie robot serial killer with singular directives throughout the whole thing, scaring the bejesus out of me like Linda Blair, or Mohinder's wooden acting skills! Seriously, Mischa Barton could sub in for him for a week, and no one would be able to tell the difference!
Okay, I'm out of breath, and I sort of just annoyed myself, but that's how many exclamation points this season deserves, because the last half of this has been a complete and total masterpiece, in almost every way. It belongs up there with the Amazon and Pearl Islands seasons in the pantheon of great Survivor history. But I'm getting ahead of things, as I am wont to do.
So, Night 36 at Bula Bula. Post Tribal Council Night Vision! I will miss you over the summer. Stacy has just been ousted due to Yau-man's most excellent and thwart-tastic move to play the idol, and five people are left. Yau-man and Earl are regrouping after the attempted coup; Earl tries to justify by stating that maybe they were just trying to flush the idol out. Not true! They would have told him their plan if they just wanted even ground. BTW, major propers to whomever decided to change up the idol rules to make you play it before the votes are read. It really balances out the power of the idol and makes the whole game much more strategy-oriented. Yau suggests to Earl that he may have to borrow Earl's idol at the next TC to avoid being ousted, and Earl looks at him like, "Yeah, um...not so much." Earl, wary of the whole Edgardo fiasco, knows that then he might be targeted, so he will be keeping his idol, thanks.

First of all Schoonie,
Your recap is perhaps the funniest thing I have read in awhile. I swear everything I thought about this episode you said.. thanks for the recap, absolutely hilarious.
Oh and, Lisi falling "priceless". Every time Dreamz opens his mouth I just shake my head in disbelief.

Great job on part I Schoonie. I can't wait for Episode II, where the dark side makes a comeback against our Jedi hero Yau-Man.

I must say, I started loving Boo these past few weeks. He's a hottie. But yeah, he kinda ended up seeming like a bit of wacko. And he owns a bar? Seems contradictory...
Schoonie - I am going to miss these recaps so much. I am sad. Love you long time.

Supposedly according to some post game interviews, besides harping on his past homelessness, Dreamz was the one who brought up every five minutes how into Jesus he is (or should it be Jesuz?). The editors played it down in the televised cut, so Boo isn't completely loony for calling him out on it during the final Tribal Council. It was just taken out of context.

Dude, you are so right about Mohinder. He's TERRIBLE.
Kinda disagree about your assessment that Dreamz should have waited to tell everybody he was homeless. Moto would have pulled an Ozzie and lost on purpose just to get rid of him (maybe he would have made a TC confession of the deep, abiding love he'd felt the time Rita said 'hi, my name's Rita' to him).
Whether he wanted it or not, Dreamz' homeless story earned him a measure of tolerance from some of his teammates. Of course, they really kept him around because he's a strong athlete and appeared to be stupid and easy to manipulate. He turned out to be a lot more clever than anyone expected--he simply functioned according to a bizarre, gap-ridden logic of his own.
Yes indeed, Schoonie, I too leapt for joy with the appearance of Lisi's faceplant. I have already begun to use the memory of said faceplant as a coping ritual when shit doesn't go my way in life: I just take a deep breath, imagine Lisi's 'ya gotta get up pretty early in the morning' line voiced over the image of her buttah face under that stupid, stupid, stupid hat (memo to Probst: that look is OVER) seconds before making a direct hit on Fijian soil. All better!!
I also liked Boo more and more as the season progressed. Mrs. Jack went to college in Louisiana and had a Cajun roommate from Cutoff, which is not far from Boo's hometown (the same town which gave us 'Real World' uber-tramp Trishelle Canatella). Mrs. J. has been to the fishin' camps down dere on de bayou, and she says Boo is the classic Cajun male: good-natured but overly chatty, up for mass on Sunday morning regardless of how drunk they were on Saturday night, tough as shit, dark and swarthy but usually blue-eyed and un-erringly friendly, and, of course, possessing that bizarre accent, which makes them sound like drunk New Yorkers.
I think Boo got a bit of a misleading edit. His reasoning towards the end appeared to be sharper than we were led to believe he was capable of, and he has said in his post-game interviews that some of his antics--building his nest in the thicket, for instance--were put on for the camera as a means of combating boredom and anxiety (he said he knew he was # 1 on the hit-list at that point and had no need to eavesdrop).
In any case, Boo could have been a much bigger fan favorite in any season w/o Yau-Man, who pretty much stole the show. And I will never forget the sound of Boo re-aligning his knee in the mud field. Turns out he tore his ACL but is just getting cortisone shots and living with it 'cause he doesn't want to have to give up ultimate fighting for the 8 months it would take to rehab the knee. Tough SOB!

I. LOVE. SCHOONIE.
Strawberry pancakes?
Hiding behind a row of seats in the IMAX theater to escape the terrible specter of Dreamz?
OMG I laughed so loud at my desk just now I had to pretend to be on the phone when my boss walked by to investigage.
Can't wait for parts II and III.

Schoonie, I joined TVgasm just so I could leave you a comment - you literally had me laughing out loud for a full 5 minutes! The part about Cassandra asking bugs for money was hilarious! Cant wait for parts 2 and 3.

LonnaSaur, I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one toggling between QuickBooks and Schoonie's recap in order to not get caught by my boss for laughing my ass off!
Schoonie, you are the best of the rookies, I can only hope that they will give you more shows to recap...

Jack, I thought you made some really good points.
I know this may be a little early to ask this question since the other part of the recaps are not up yet, but am I the only one aggravated at CBS for not giving Yau-Man a car?

Post Tribal Council Night Vision! I will miss you over the summer
or from Dreamz, because he wants to stay in the game, although he might vote for himself if you convince him that it is his new one track programming zombie robot goal
The next vote is for Boo, and it is all in block letters and 3-d, which makes me really want to see Survivor in IMAX.

I thought it was a freaking riot that they showed all of the past players at their WORST moment falling & stuff...couldn't get enough of Lisi - watched it over and over again.
I, too, became a Boo fan near the end...I wondered where all the Jesus talk came from in TC (thanks Jack for some clarification on this)...I believe deep down he is a nice guy and meant well. BTW, nice bod Boo - just gotta get rid of the stupid nickname.
LOVE the idea of the 3 segment finale recaps - what will I do after the third one posts and there is no more Schoonie to read????
I HEART SCHOONIE.

Schoonie, are you Dalton Ross, because you seem to love the same seasons as him (read EW.com if you don't believe me) and you two seem to have the same concerns regarding Dreamz?.... my theory is that you actually are!
Can't wait for the second and third parts.... thx.

Absolutely one of the best recaps EVER. You are incisive, clever and extremely observant. But...a little slow. Here it is the 21st of May and we're still waiting for more Schonie snark. Come on, I want to read and delight in Dreamz's performance and ramblings at TC when EVERYONE rags on integrity. Please hurry, I need my dose of schadenfreude!

For that, you can blame CBS; they put full episodes on their website (which is what I use to recap), but they neglect to include the middle twenty minutes. That's...not a full episode. So, after acquiring one by some, um...alternate means, the next part should be ready shortly.
