We're a little more than halfway throught the latest season of The 4400 and I am sort of wondering where all of the Science Fiction geeks have gone on TVgasm. You shouldn't feel like you have to speak Klingon or have your own parking space at Comic-Con to enjoy a shows like this. I know I have been late with my recaps, but one comment? It's not THAT obsucre and it's not like I'm reviewing old DVDs of Dr. Who or something (no, I really don't like the new series that much if you have to ask). So, even if you don't watch the show, leave a comment and say you like boobies or something. It will make you feel better, and convince me I should spend two or three hours writing the recaps.
Now that my little pity party is over, we can back to the show which, as I have been saying, is actually pretty good. This week had something for everybody: drugs, arranged marriage, and, wait for it....Brian Dennehy!
The episode begins with a girl being chased by somebody on the roof of a building. The guy that is chasing her is calling her Erica, and is telling her that he doesn't want to hurt her, which is exactly the type of thing a psychopath says before he kills you and then wears your ears as a necklace. At this point, I am trying to figure out whether Erica, or this guy, who she calls Uncle Patrick, is the 4400. Whatever it is, Erica says that she is not going to let him touch her, and decides to jump off the roof of the building.

That's going to leave a mark
Tom and Diana show up at the crime scene, but are kind of confused why they were called by the DEA when there were no 4400 involved. As they get there, Tom thanks Diana for some cookies that she had delivered to his house, which is funny because she didn't send him any cookies, and was about to thank him for the cookies that he sent to her place.
Shrugging it off, the two of them learn why they were called in. The girl had a new drug in her called blink. It's the third suicide of a blink user in the last couple of weeks, which is not out of the ordinary, except that blink has been discovered to have traces of promycin(the thing that gives the 4400 their power). It's a powerful hallucinogen, and people see things I guess they don't want to see. For Erica, it was her uncle, who has been in prison for more than twelve years.
As Tom and Diana are leaving, Tom sees his father (played by Brian Dennehy!), who has been dead for nine years. But how could that be? Well, Tom did eat a cookie, and suddenly it's clear. Somebody wanted to get at Tom and Diana and gave them these cookies; at least that is what Tom thinks. Diana had a cookie, and she feels fine. She decides to take Tom to NTAC medical, where they find nothing wrong with him. And since promycin is so new, the toxicology screen doesn't show anything. They can't say how long it's going to last, but just to safe, Jarvis puts Tom and Diana on two day medical leave just in case.

I am definitely NOT a sci-fi type of gal but I love The 4400. I think it's so smart and I love seeing each new ability each week. The recaps are good, but I think a lot of the details that are important to the storyline are getting lost in the recap, for people who don't watch the show closely.
Also, I love my boobies, as does my hunky husband.

I haven’t gotten into this season that much. What the hell happened to Jordan Collier? They made an offhand reference to him in one episode and that was it.
And I love boobies.

I think I kind of shot myself in the foot with this show. I never watched it when it was first on and then before this season started I caught up on seasons 1 & 2 via DVD, during the 2 least productive days of my life. The problem was, this season has been a let down especially in comparison to that marathon. I hated Lily, but it was really annoying that they had to think up some way to get rid of her because of a contract dispute. And Isabelle is kind of annoying. And I don't like Tom. I like Shawn, but I want him to be nineteen again.
Boobies rule! Especially your moms! WHAT WHAT!

It's funny that you mention that Diane was robbing the cradle. My sister was watching the 4400 for the first time this episode and when she saw Marco and Diane together in their first scene, she asked if he was her son! LOL
And yes, I, too, love boobies!

I really like this show and only found it when they started playing back to back episodes. The problem, however, is that I can never remember to watch it at its normal time so I am SO very thankful for your recaps and you have my sincere appreciation for keeping me up to date on the goings on with the 4400. That said, I feel too that this season has been somewhat of a letdown. But I will keep watching and/or reading cause I have faith it will get better. Your recaps, by the way, made a good show great!

I don't get the whole boobie fascination but I am able to appreciate. I am loving this season of the 4400 and I think the recaps are awesome. You usually catch stuff that I miss. I agree with you about Shawn - I don't know how upset I would really be to be forced to sleep with Isabelle...and I'm the gay. Although I am not sure of her reaction if I left the toilet seat up or the cap off of the toothpaste. She blew off the whole "Shawn trying to kill her" thing - I bet the little stuff really pisses her off.

I love the recaps, 4400 AND boobies! I have to say though, I am not really into this season as much. The shows seem to be very formulaic. Tom and Diana are attacked, they find it, crisis averted. Oh, and some stuff about Isabelle too. It feels like there is very little happening in terms of moving the plot forward.

Hey J-Unit, more than a dozen comments! I hope you're happy now.
I still think the show is taking too long to get to the point but this episode was pretty good. I couldn't believe how long it took to figure out Randy was the culprit. Aren't these people supposed to be seasoned investigators? What I want to know is what kind of herbs were these that work for both fried chicken and cookies? Anyway, I've said it before and I'll say it again: Tom use the syringe!! Girlfriend's too scary for words.
Oh yeah and I like boobs too.

I appreciate the recaps AND I've commented before, so there.
Anyhoo, Isabelle's becoming a cross between the 'wish things into the cornfield' kid from the Twilight Zone and a Victoria's Secret model. I hope they do something more interesting with her soon.
Poor Marco. Diana should keep him, he's cute.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. I look forward to it each week.
I think the quality of actors/actresses is incredible.
I really like the guy that plays Shawn, but are they bringing back Kyle?

What bothers me is that even after they realize they were drugged, they treat these people as if they were real. Tom even asked his dad to stay for dinner and apologized to him for not being there for him when he was alive. Umm, hello? He is a figment of your imagination. Your dad is dead.
And the writers screwed up by making these imaginary characters seem more like visitors instead of made up characters based on their memories of that long ago person. Toms dad saying that he “didn’t blame him” for not showing up? How does the fake imaginary dad Tom made up in his head know that? His dad could have died hating his son for not being there.
Tom needs to use that evil needle on Isabel soon. She’s getting annoying.

Please do keep doing the recaps!!! I don't get cable, so your recaps are the only way I can stay caught up on the show..
That being said, Isabelle annoys the crap out of me-- needy, possesive, immature and oh so whiny. Please Tom kill her soon!
Plus I want Shawn so she needs to just go away =D

I'm just so glad that other people love this show too!! I was feeling so lonely last summer because no one got my 4400 comments.
Isabelle is bugging.
Oh, and I love my boobies.

Argh. Facts:You have +/-4300 left of the 4400 out there. A good number don't like you- yet when you find out the cookies aren't from your partner, AND there is a new drug going around, AND you've eaten them...there isn't a *lightbulb* moment that maybe you've been slipped a mickey? The writers need to do better than that!
My boobies are definitely following your recaps, J-Unit.. but this show is making me all...*sighs*
Dare I say it's jumping the s.. s... s... Stargate? (Ha!) Maybe the people of the future are the Orei?
How about a recap of Eureka?

Wow J-Unit, you asked and everyone came thru! or well, some at least... I read every week, but don't really ever have much to say, which is shocking. I thought Tom and Diana seemed pretty dumb in this episode, aren't they suppose to be detectives or something?
I agree w/ damn_gina about Eureka, I've been wanting to watch it and see if it's any good, but the only one I ever see on is the pilot; or did they stop making it like the network channels surprise us with? I'm going to have to start hate mailing networks if they keep getting me hooked on shows and then toss them in the garbage!
Great recap J unit, a rollicking good time as always.
