Rumors are swirling! The Mercury News (via Reality Blurred) reports that one of the best comedies on TV, The Apprentice, might be canceled after the current season wraps up in May. Even though casting is underway for a sixth season to be shot in Los Angeles, sliding ratings might send The Donald down to the street instead of up to the suite. Granted, I'm sure the show won't be cancelled. It's more like The Donald will probably be suddenly "too busy" to do it anymore. Still, I implore all readers to save this series. It's hilarious! Don't let it sink in the quagmire of programming that is NBC.

It is the best comedy on TV. Someone needs to start a TV channel that plays all of the great shows that have been cancelled before they should have. Shows such as "Arrested Development, The Mole(not the celebrity editions), The Apprentice, Undeclared, Buzzkill(from MTV), and of course, What's Happening?"

Chief113,
Trio ran a series of called BRILLIANT BUT CANCELLED. Shows on here were incredibly obscure and oh so entertainting, such as the little known LOOKWELL. Adam West starred as an actor from a cancelled detective show who tries to fight crime and suceeds inspite of himself.
ahh, good stuff.

Aww, I still love this show!! It has been so good, particularly season 4 & this season. WTF! NBC won't get better ratings with any other shows. Will they come up with new editions of awful Deal or No Deal?!

If they had kept it on Thursdays at 9:00, they would still be good to go. NBC is so far down the crapper at the moment, they need to learn to stop jacking with the very few things that work for that company.

You're kidding right? Earl and The Office are far superior shows. They may be the best two shows on TV these days.

Madeyoulaugh- sadly, i watched some reruns of Lookwell..i love me some crazy adam west.
i don't know why, but networks have a habit of cancelling great shows like 'my so called life,' 'arrested development,' and 'freaks and geeks'...
oh, and 'joey,' obviously.
you know what show really needs a spinoff? the 70's house--now THERE was some great tv.

About time!
The show is now considered a joke. And not a good one either.

As much as I enjoy this show, I think two installments a year is overkill. They probably need to scale it back to once a year, like Idol, to avoid viewer fatigue and increase ratings.

I can't wait for this TV remade into a movie. Who's going to play Hasselhoff?
http://www.cnn.com/2006/SHOWBIZ/Movies/05/09/film.knightrider.reut/index.html
And it doesn't stop there apparently. This guy is looking to make "Magnum, P.I." and "The Fall Guy"!!

This season has been very lackluster. You are right, suddenly Donald won't have time to do it, and will give him time to pitch something elaborate.

*Throwing arms up into the air and yelling: "Noooooooo!"*
Why oh why did they move this show opposite 24? I tape it while I watch 24, but I mean come on, for those who have to pick, 24 will win every damn time.
This show has been declining over the years, but has always pulled in a steady Nielsen share every week. It is also the best freaking unintentional comedy on tv! Watching the Donald ham it up should be a THIRTY GAZILLION DOLLAR INDUSTRY.
And to the guy who mentioned 'Freaks and Geeks', you are so right! I have the complete first (only) season and it is one of the best, and realistic shows about teenage angst ever made.
Other great shows that met an early demise were Firefly, which I'm currently halfway through and Men Behaving Badly, back when Rob Schneider was funny.

i agree it's over kill to have two shows a year. trump needs time off the show to put up yet another tombstone like residential building on Riverside Drive.

"The Apprentice" jumped the shark when:
1) It was put against "24". What were they thinking?
2) The "apprentices" began to form alliances. Did they think they were on "Survivor"?

lynturn, I liked Joan of Arcadia. I thought I was the only one. At least I still get to watch Wentworth Miller on Prison Break.

The Apprentice started to go downhill when every freaking week involved the same task: help some corporate behemoth introduce some new product by designing a marketing campaign. The first year had some inventive challenges that didn't rely on some product-placement, like when the teams had to renovate an apartment and rent it. This year, though, it's like "design an ad" every week--"P'Eatzza," "The Haircuttery," etc. And, of course, Laaaaaamborghini.
