Tonight's episode follows Travis as he visits the four remaining ho-pefuls and their families. To give us an indication of how crazy this part of the contest can get (and to fill up ten minutes of tonight's two-hour nosextravaganza), the producers treat us to a look back at some of the more memorable hometown visits from seasons past. Since I've never watched the show before this season, I don't care.
Okay, now that that trip down memory lane is over, let's get back to this year's schmo, The Amazing Travis. He tells us that in order to find out who the girls really are, he needs to see them outside of France, and, with any luck, their underpants. Travis likes each of the women for different reasons: Susan is beautiful and smart, but she doesn't let it go to her head. Except for the intelligence thing, which kind of has to be in your head. Although Daniel Day-Lewis did a good job convincing audiences worldwide that a left foot could be pretty damn smart and talented all on its own. With SaraH-eh?, he felt an immediate connection from day one, but on the last few group dates she's been distant. Probably because Moanica keeps hogging all his time, but whatever. Let's just blame it on the Canadian. PlainSaraH is already a great friend, plus they live less than a mile apart. But will the friendship lead to a romance? Or at least a reliable fuckbuddy? Finally, there's Moanica. Travis finds her mysterious and sexay, probably in the same way Amber Frey found Scott Peterson to be mysterious and sexay. Let's hope it works out better for Dr. McDreamy.

Do you see what I see?
Speaking of Moanica, her hometown of San Clemente, California, is the first stop on Travis' itinerary. Moanica is happy to be out of the house and back in the states with Travis, away from all those bitchy harpies and their bitchy harpy ways. They meet on the beach, because that's what you do in San Clemente. Travis asks if she'd be willing to move away from California, because he wants to move back to the mountains. He also tells her that meeting her has been one of the best experiences in his life. That certainly doesn't say much for Travis' life up to this point. Moanica wants to teach Travis how to surf, because she says "you can't surf in Nashville." Other things you can't do in Nashville: sheep. Unfortunately, the waves are being less than gnarly, so they end up just paddling around for a while. Eventually, they kiss. Moanica says their kiss was the most perfect moment of the day and confirms everything she feels about Travis. "Putting my heart on the table is hard for me," she says. "And leaving it there is even harder." Primarily because she keeps it in a jar.
After the beach, it's time for Travis to meet Moanica's family. She says her dad's a pretty good judge of character, but I kind of doubt that, as he continues to let her in the house. Nobody she's ever brought home has been up to her dad's standards, so it's going to be very hard for her if Daddy doesn't like Travis. When they get there, everyone's so busy talking to Moanica that Travis ends up introducing himself to everybody, including her mother, her stepmother and a couple of sibs. And that's the high point of his visit. Moanica's dad is immediately suspicious of The Amazing Travis, while her stepmom hits him with her hypocrite-stick. She tells Travis she's disgusted by the situation, and that it undermines families and mocks marriage. Did I mention she's Moanica's stepmother? And that her real mother is also there? Maybe Step-Mommy Dearest shouldn't be the one lecturing on the sanctity of marriage, as she was obviously Moanica's dad's second choice.

I agree with your assessment. But I think Moaner's family should have a reality show all its' own.
That Dad is five ways of awesome!
It is so obvious that the good Doc's blood is flowing to his lower brain. Oh well. It is worth watching to see Moaner's ultimate denial.

Susan's family dogging her out more than Travis was awesome! Talk about a taco-blocko, it was more of a second generation taco-blocko! At least Travis had the good sense to choose her good looks over any OBVIOUS warnings from her family.

I felt for Sarah-eh, her "neurotic" behaviour actually seems more like a the normal reaction to a ridiculous situation, and a sign of her sincerity although probably would've been better not to bring up Moana specifically. Big props for the beer-guzzlin family though! Read an interview with her someplace, and she seemed to have a good perspective on things, and definitely glad to have been spared being to shackled to Dr. Dork.
Why does Moana look more like her stepmother than her mother? I'm confused. Poor Moana, her "crazy" makes a helluva lot more sense after meeting the folks. I'd hate the dad, except I hate Travis so much more. Loved the way he masterfully turned Travis's godawful habit of reiterating banal inanities against him through by withholding a response. That was painful!
PlainSarah, so she's an effin kindergarten teacher who's good with toddlers? Big bloody deal. You'd think he'd just seen her part the Red Sea, ffs.
Susan, amazing how far you can get on looks alone. Didn't see this date at all though. Just saw the mahoosive house at the end (and yet Susan's still oddly in a hotel). Seems like the b'ettes almost always come from quite well-off families.

Oh yeah, and I deliberately missed Moana's balling video after seeing the "coming up next..." preview. That was just too embarrassing to even watch.

Oops, "bawling" I mean. Now, a "balling" video would've been awesome.

Sarah-Eh? now has a chance with Winnipeg's own Ace Burpee. Despite the name, he is a million times better than Travis.

I am sick of hearing Travis talk about 'chemistry between us'. The only chemistry I saw was the freaking boner he's been sporting.
Sarah-Canada was the last girl I liked left on the show. Damn I'm pissed. Moana is still on the show?!?! Come ON!! Her family was so rude to him. I guess he wants her around for the hotel stays (*Boom-chikah-boom-boom*). She's bound to give it up with all that 'you make me complete' shit she was crying about. Or maybe she will sleep with him to make up for her rude family. Rude to him but AWESOME tv for us.

okay, I missed him going to Moana's (darn it), but her video was way too creepy for me - and I'm a chick! I would think that any guy would be skeeved by such emotion from someone you barely know.
I like PlainSarah. I think she's cute.
As for Susan, something is seriously wrong when BOTH of your parents think you're doing this for the wrong reasons. Travis needs to take note. That chick is so not marriage material - at least not right now and not for him.
Also, I, too am surprised at the lack of "make out" sessions with these people - even though I usually fast-forward through them, it still seems strange to me to be that "connected" with someone you haven't even kissed. So weird.

I'm not even sure this show is worth watching. What a snoozefest. Dr. "Dork" is "amazingly" without sex appeal. In the beginning they said that they had to find the most perfect bachelor to be worthy of the Paris show. He didn't even audition!!! Come on! What are the execs at ABC thinking??? I know that they lost me as a viewer for the show. I don't even care who makes it, but I think we all know PlainSarah is the winner. But I have to admit, Moanica's outbursts are the only thing keeping me awake during these episodes. As for Susan, I also noticed her looking at the camera every time her and Dr. "Dork" kissed. She's def in this to get noticed. You can tell she's not into him, it looks like she wants to laugh at him most of the time. Just a few thoughts...

Once again, a great recap copygodd. And Mrs. Copygodd sounds like a lovely lady.
So, I've been glued to Moana's myspace: http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=1983447 since last week and have found a few interesting things. First of all, Kristin (crazy orange-peel-in-the-mouth-girl) and Jehan are her friends. Wasn't Jehan the one leading the fight AGAINST Moana???
Also, on Monday Moana posted a new "poem" (if you can even call it that), and it was basically about her heart being broken. The interesting part is that one of her apparently retarded friends left a comment that said, "So I see you've decided to give up on T." Of course, this has since been removed by Moana so you'll just have to take my word on it. I have no life, so expect more earth shattering news from me.

I like Plain Sarah. I think she's the "real deal." But I think she's way too good for Travis. He'll probably pick her, but hopefully she'll realize what a dork he is and turn him down.

Didn't the teacher Sarah get canned or quit before the show? So are those fake students or something?

I know Susan isn't there for Travis - and is only using this as a season long audition for whatever Hollywood has to offer. However, that being said, she is beyond beautiful. Prettiest girl on the show by far. I can see why he's keeping her around.

Susan is beautiful-but that doesn't make up for her saying stupid things like "smitten kitten" and "I look forward to falling in love with you"-well I guess for Travis it does. Who talks like that? It comes off as completely phony, but I guess he can't see beyond her beauty.
I am truly surprised he got rid of Sarah-eh? I guess these girls just never learn that the one who bitches about the others always gets booted off.
LRo9-I am glad you are willing to go to Moanica'a My Space to deliver those juicy tidbits about her, because I went there once and that was more than enough for me. He probably kept her for the "overnight fantasy date" but that is one of the reasons I thought he would keep Sarah-eh? It seemed like he really wanted to do her. I liked how Moanica tried to put her hand on Sarah's shoulder at the end like she was actually part of the group and that everyone doesn't hate her.

I'm totally with you Victoria about that myspace. Possibly even more excruciating than that video message to Travis. Can't even look at it.

I am willing to admit that I may have a problem. In my defense though, I turn my computer speakers off so I don't have to listen to her sappy music.
That doesn't even come close to justifying my obsession...

LRo9-at least you turn off her crap music. I'm surprised she doesn't have Edith Piaf on there to show how "deep" she is. Especially having been to Paris now.

chronic-I don't know a guy who wouldn't run screaming in the other direction after seeing that video message-which makes you wonder what is wrong with Travis-other than the obvious. I love it when copygodd calls him "The Amazing Travis."
