The Unusuals "Boorland Day"

A family of criminals terrorizes New York while each character continues dealing with the fallout of Kowalski's death.

Dispatch calls all units. A giant foot steps on a little city, all Godzilla like. Cops scramble. Cop cars descend on one location. The giant foot crushes some buildings. We see Casey Schraeger hovering around anxiously. The giant foot is revealed to be a man stepping on a diorama inside a bank that he is attepting to rob. Um WTF? Why is this needed? It's so silly, like they had extra post production money and decided to insert this bit of stupidity. Or worse, the writers actually wrote that in. Schraeger begins to ask Walsh if he's a go on 3 type of person, or a go after 3 person when he replies he doesn't count just as the bank robbers burst forth from the building and a chase begins.

Thirty minutes earlier they are at Walsh's diner where he is making bad food with smiley face eggs and bacon and they are discussing the weird criminals that they get. (Which so far haven't been that weird. Guess they must have booked a guy between Wednesdays who was robbing cheese stores in drag, to account for the weird.)

Casey says "They used to call me Pete Rose on ice." That she's the utility player. Walsh says that it's a good thing, but nothing is what you think. Really, nothing? Wow, such a profound statement. And do you really need a flashback for such lame exposition?
Flash forward to one of the robbers pushing Casey into a pile of garbage. (This was done so much better in Dr. Horrible. And there was singing!) As she gets up the robbers pop open a bag of cash and it goes flying everywhere just as Walsh is pining down one of their suspects. Casey gives Walsh what might be a bewildered/exasperated look, but hard to tell through the bad acting. Walsh just shrugs.

Dispatch calls a 1011 inprogress at a dress shop and then reminds the cops she is a size 2. HA HA HA. Funny. (What's with her Fran Drescher accent? It's the awful voice without the amusing outfits.) Banks and Delahoy bring in a criminal who they argue about Banks wanting to shoot. He thinks it was fair because the suspect was swinging a sword at them. Alvarez asks what happened so they explained that the guy tried to rob a cash only store with a sword. Cole and Beaumont (who barely had a cameo in episode 1) get sent out on robbery at a pawn shop.

Casey and Walsh bring in their suspect, who turns out to be just a 16 year old kid. Casey attempts to question Cole and Beaumont, as they the numbers 36, and 41 at each other but Walsh shuts Schraeger down. (The beginning of a really annoying secret throughout the episode.)

Cole and Beaumont go to the pawn shop. The pawn shop guy describes to Cole and Beaumont the people who stole 8-10 grand from his store. He says there were 4 people with pantyhose on their head but one guy had put it on wrong. (Guess he's also a whiz with condoms.) He points out that the robbers left behind an onion. He also says that the robbers told him he "was part of history now."

Brown calls Casey into his office to discuss her "investigation". She says 1 week isn't enough time to tell if anything shady is going on. Brown says the up-aboves are breathing down his neck and conceeds he likes Walsh but he had a dirty partner. Brown wants her to find "His story" (i.e. Walsh's.) Why he does what he does, cos everyone has a story. (Maybe they should just visit NPR Story Core bus and have a heart to heart.)

Walsh interrupts their chat to take Casey out to interrogate their suspect. They find out his name is James Boorland, a really smart kid, in the math club, science club, etc. James worries whether getting arrested will keep him from taking the SATs on Saturday. (Almost funny guys, keep trying.) James admits he didn't want to do it, so Walsh presses him for the reason. He doesn't talk so they escort him out of interrogation.
