From the Casting Couch: Top Chef II -
by B-Side
Okay, okay -- so we haven't been recapping Top Chef, but that's not because we don't like it. We just don't have enough manpower to write about it. Nevertheless, we still want to see the show grow and prosper, and thankfully, Bravo has greenlit season two of the hit show. It just so happens that our buddy is in charge of finding the next stable of haughty, pompous, and emotional chefs, and he wanted us to help get the word out about the various casting calls and whatnot. So in our never-ending quest to shamelessly shill for our friends, we present to you this information.
Open Casting Calls for Top Chef:
Las Vegas, NV - May 11 and May 12 at the Las Vegas Hilton
New York, NY - May 16 and May 18 at Prey Lounge & Bar
Chicago, IL - May 24 at the Rock Bottom Brewery
Los Angeles, CA -- TBD
San Francisco, CA - June 4
And of course, people can also download an application from BravoTV.com. You can thank us later, Bravo (you know -- maybe a free meal from one of these cooks? You know where to find us).

I can't wait to tell a friend about this. He has recently parted ways with more than one of the finer dining establishments in Hartford (yes, there are some fabulous vittles here). He wasn't sacked over his food either. It was all about the 'tude.

I have an unhealthy obsession w/ TOP CHEF, godhelpme.
Was Stephen working in Hartford, Lizardqueen? Where - I'm from that area.
Anyhoo - Stephen was the most pompous sommelier (read: not CHEF) I've ever seen. There's one thing to be confident, but to "educate" your customers like they're children...OY!
So glad he was booted. Did the superbowl shuffle, in fact...

Yaaaaay! Big show tonight - think it's gotta be meanie Tiffani or emotional trainwreck Dave that exits. Pretty confident Harold wins it all. Love him. Thoughts?

So happy there will be a second season - I love this show.
I just wish they had a Tim Gunn type instead of Chef Colicchio (who is really more of a Judge)...and he doesn't even have a catch phrase!
Make it work ~

I dunno, I think the three strongest competitors are Tiffani, Harold, & Lee Ann. Dave should be going tonight. Tiffani has been pretty strong throughout the competition and hasn't really screwed up big time. I like Harold, but he's screwed up here and there so he hasn't been consistent. I also like Lee Ann and she hasn't really screwed up as much as Harold. So most likely Tiffani will win just for being consistent but Harold and Lee Ann will be major competition if they go head to head with Tiffani and it's all about cooking.
Whose looking forward to Hell's Kitchen 2? :)

Damn, I'm gonna be in Vegas, but I'm leaving on the 10th. Oh, yeah, that's right, I can't cook.
Can't wait for Hell's Kitchen and some more awful bloody risotto.

I am seriously obsessed with this show... the minute they stop showing it everyday on Bravo will be the minute I start buying the episodes on I-Tunes. If you need someone to recap, I could do it in my sleep for this show.
Also, incredibly upset that Lee Anne was sent home tonight. I wanted her to go all the way.

I'm actually excited for the reunion special. As we learned from Project Runway:
Alcohol + Reunion Special = Awesome

I seriously love this show and only got to watch it one day while traveling when it was on for like 8 hours and I stayed in my hotel room all afternoon and couldnt take my eyes off the train wreck that is this show - I even ate a lousy room service meal cause I didnt want to miss the next episode. What pisses me off is we dont get Bravo where I live (can you imagine?) so I havent been able to watch it since - TVGASM needs to recap this show for us cable challenged mid-westerners...PLEASEEEE or someone email me each week and tell me whats happened!! Glad to hear Stephens gone - what a flagrant ass he was!!

jelliepair, i watch the show religiously, i could keep you updated if you want! email?
i, too, was DELIGHTED, nay, THRILLED when awful Stephen got the boot, god, he was intolerable, the way he always went on about how the wait staff & consumers needed 2 b educated abt the wines. A quip or 2 is interesting, but he just went on & on & on.... & on! He did have some good plates & even won a challenge or 2, but his personality was so overbearing, i really felt angry watchin whn he was on. nywys, can't wait 4 the reunion special nxt wk, where seemingly, Ms Piggy, i mean, Tiffani, bursts in2 tears & walks away. NOT a fan of hers, she thnks she's bttr than e'1 else---yes, she's good, but she's also 2 cocky & fake. I like Dave, was happy 4 him that he won, but my god, could a bigger nervous wreck have ever been conceived?!! I wish LeeAnne would've made it, really liked her. I thnk Harold will take it, i like him 2.

Love Love LOVE this show. I'm not happy that Lee Anne got sent home and horrible Tiffani stayed, but whatever. Who would've thought Harold and Dave would round out the Top Three? Dave almost got sent packing a few times earlier in the season, and it was halfway through the season before Harold even became a (weak) personality. I wish there was a recap of this show because it is so great. The only other show (besides Project Runway) where talent takes precedence over personality (I'm talking to YOU, Harold). BTW, anyone know where I can get the "I'm not your bitch, BITCH" shirt Dave was flashing in the previews of the reunion? Can't wait to see Tiffani cry.

So glad to find other fans of the show on here! The TVGasm powers that be really should try to find the manpower to recap this show. I laughed even harder than Harold did when Dave locked himself in the walk-in freezer after they were told they were in the top three and going to Vegas. I like Dave but he spazzes out way too easily. I don't know anything about food but Dave's putting a $1000/lb truffle in a bunch mac&cheese seemed like a boneheaded idea, but the Napa chefs loved it so go figure. I don't know if they were really that impressed or if they were just sick of lamb. I didn't like Stephen's personality either, but I wish he had stuck around for this last task. It would have been interesting to see what he did with the wine and truffles.

The reunion looks like it will be awesome reality viewing. From the previews, Stephen appears to get violent, Tiffani stalks out in anger and/or tears, and the judges are in the middle of what appears to be a physical altercation.

Yeah, seriously bummed about Lee Ann. She got a pretty unfair deal in the past two shows and hung in there, just to get dropped now?
They made a big mistake. Tiffani and Dave would both get their asses kicked in any normal kitchen and everyone knows it.
#14, how can you say Harold's got no personality? Admittedly, he plays straight man to the other weirdos on the show, but his disdain for the lame challenges is hilarious: "Who caters a wedding from a supermarket? It's unheard of. It's ridiculous." And I love how he keeps those Bravo censors working; there have to be like 8 million bleeps per show.
Dave locking himself in the freezer was easily the best moment this week. Poor guy is a frosty-haired MESS of a chef.
And agreed with #16, that reunion show looks like a total disaster/freak show/fantastic hour of television. Can't wait!
