So, depending on what coast you are on and just how much fun you had last night, you are either waking up to an all new TVgasm to begin a bright new day or drunkenly wondering what happened to TVgasm, thinking that you may be dreaming, and waiting to decide what you should do about it in the morning. But yes, TVgasm did a little software upgrade, and with that came a few design changes. We're hoping that it looks a little nicer in more browsers as well as being easier to read. Most everything should be changed over to the new look, but there are a few things we still need to get to.
Depending on your browser, you are going to have to reset the browser cache to make sure all the new stylesheets and everything are working. Really, empty the cache, empty it again, and maybe restart your computer for good measure. As always, let me know if there is something that doesn't look good in your browser by sending me an e-mail; I need a description of the problem, the browser and operating system you are using, and a screenshot if you can get one. If your feedback comes at the end of a love letter to Tyra, I might even pay attention. I can say that it is strongly suggested you use Safari, Firefox(and similar browsers), or IE 6 and above.

On Mozilla 5.0 the columns are all off. Hard to read print as well. What e-mail address should screen prints be sent to?

I like the new header. I'm gonna have to get used to the tiny dotted line between messages - that part I'm not as sure about.

Forgot to mention... horizontal scroll bar at 800x600 resolution. Set your width to a percentage instead of a fixed width. ;>

As much as I like to be a proponent of web standards, I never pretended that TVgasm was going to validate. Then again, aiming for W3C validation is not going to assure me that the page is going to look good in the browsers of the people that visit the site, which is my first concern. Once I am assured that it looks good, I will try and validate as much as possible, without breaking too much of the design. Any markup nazis are welcome to e-mail me suggestions, and once validation comes up on my list of priorities (admittedly, it's not very high), I will see what I can do.

J-Unit,
I just e-mailed you a more serious description. Not trying to be a markup nazi; validation is a serious concern. True, the site is designed for only modern browsers but that's common these days. I do XHTML and don't worry too much about old browsers because ebay and Amazon don't, so users with older browsers are used to the Internet being broken.
But valid code will ensure all of the rest of your visitors keep up with all the important Big Brother recaps and other vital information. Some of the errors could easily keep the site from "looking good" as you said. But should be easy to fix.
Feel free to take this discussion to e-mail so we don't bore everyone else.

I use AOL and I can't view this page properly. Ads are all over the place.

Now it looks great. Thanks.

Sorry to be totally niave among all you geeks, but what the hell is "cache" and why is TVgasm too wide for my damn computer?!

Okay, I'm doublestupid, I spelled naive wrong. Please just help me.

Looks really good!

EROsion, Debby, et. al.
go to where your cookies are stored. delete the TVgasm cookie(s). Return to site.
All is well.

No, really, how do I do this?
I swear I deleted all the cookies and restarted my computer, but it's still f*d up. Oh well. Nothing can stop me from reading, not even a little extra mouse movement.

Thanks EROsion but I deleted my cookies and it didn't solve the problem. The columns are off and the margins aren't right.

EROSion, basically, you have to delete all of your temporary internet files. Pressing shift and reload also helps. If you are still having problems, e-mail me with your browser version and operating system so I can see if I can duplicate it.
Debby, the AOL browser should work, but if you e-mail me the version you are using, I can try and investigate what the problem is.

Hey, I just want to make sure none of these changes will in any way effect my internet porn.
Please Advise...

Erosion,
You have the scroll bar because your computer is set to a lower resolution than the designed width of TVGasm. It may be possbile to use your computer at a higher resolution, but that depends on your hardware and version of Windows. Do you know anyone that can show you? It would be diffiult to explain it in a blog comment... Simple translation, TVGasm is 1 foot wide, but your monitor can only view 8 inches. (No idea if that's AOL inches or not).

Ok now that I've actually been navigating the site I can say with conviction that I am not a fan of the new dotted lines between posts. They all blur together now - I liked how before they were definitely defined and separate.
(sorry to grumble)

Tinkerbell,
I've been chatting with J-Unit offline, and I think the separator line is something fixable.
People, please don't treat this redesign as a tribal merge or a final three. There's room for improvement. And J-Unit has convinced me that she's still working on it.

"And J-Unit has convinced me that she's still working on it. "
J-Unit -- you are a she?!? I thought you were a male. Maybe you are a shemale, then...

Aww thanks Nony - and just to be clear - I will continue to come to TvGasm 300+ times a day regardless of how it looks. I'm addicted so no worries on that score.

No, I'm a man, but yes, I am still working on the overall layout.

Alright, I am a lost cause. . . thanks for all the help guys, but now there is an extra inch on each side of the page and everything is almost too small to read.
I had my resolution set to 800 x 600 before (the farthest to the "less" side and anything "more" than that is way too small.
Whatever, ditto what Tink said.
24 of 26 | Posted by EROSion | Posted on August 29, 2005 2:29 PM
Tinker, as you can see J-unit already fixed the separator line. Looks great. The beauty of the method J-unit used for the redesign is external style sheets that make blanket changes very easy.
EROSion, what browser are you using? AOL, IE? The cookies don't matter. It's the cache/temporary internet files you may need to clear.
All--public apology to J-unit for the "she". For some reason, I had come to the conclusion J was a woman and B-side was a gay man. I was wrong on both counts. ;>

Thanks for fixing them, cept for some reason they still look the same to me. I even cleaned my cookies and history. Am I missing a step?
