With the Emmys just over a week away, we here at TVgasm felt the need to step up and honor television with our own set of accolades. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the first ever Golden Gasm Awards, honoring the best in television over the past year. Following the jump, you'll find all our nominations in categories ranging from Worst Show of the Year to Best Hostess to Most Memorable Moment, Scripted to Best Television Series, Unscripted. The TVgasm staff, as well as certain invited guests, will vote this week, and the official awards will be announced Friday afternoon, just in time for Emmy weekend.We have yet to actually purchase trophies for our esteemed competition, but in the meantime, winners will receive commemorative index cards with their names written on them and a free dinner at The Olive Garden, redeemable up to two weeks after the results are announced. Not bad, if I do say so myself.

I totally agree with Desperate Housewives being nominated as overhyped. I discovered Footballers Wives on BBC America and now see DH as lame. Those Brits are so out there and I recommend this show to everyone.
