That's The Way The Cookie Cake Crumbles -
by B-Side
By the next touchdown, the score had changed to 49-14, which sucked because I was hoping for a shutout, but as you can imagine, there wasn't going to be a comeback for Daphne. As the game wound down, Max's stepdad Jim told him, "I am proud of you. You've had one heck of a game." Funny, last week you were dissin' your boy, what with all your talk about him being just a "very good" player. Looks like somebody's changing his tune now. Meanwhile, some of the players picked up a cooler and poured its contents on Propst, which was a solid emulation of the Gatorade spill, except for the fact that it wasn't Gatorade. Nevertheless, the gesture was appreciated -- it was, after all, like one giant spit.
By the end of the game, the score read 56-14, a fitting blowout, especially for a team that didn't want to look like idiots on MTV. In the frenzy afterwards, Max and Alex pretend to cry, making fun of all those mushy people out there. We then cut to Kristin and Blair, who really were crying. Someone ought to give them a Cookie Cake of Hugs.
Later, in the locker room, Coach Propst told everyone that he was proud of them, and I think we even saw what looked to be his little girl (funny, I thought he didn't have a family after last week's moving Thanksgiving episode). And so that completed part one of the season finale. I'll try to check out the online episode later this week, but I'm warning you, it may have to wait until next Wednesday. I gots The Duel to take care of now!
What did you think about this episode? And what do you think about the series as a whole?

It's weird seeing your hometown as an MTV reality show. And even weirder seeing how the other half lives (I was/am a nerd).
The series was OK, better than most of the junk on MTV. But talk about a town and a program that already has too much hype.

I love this show, and I kinda hope they have another season with either this school or another school with a good football team. They should show all football games like this--just highlights for the ADD afflicted. All people care about is the touchdowns and tackles, right?

All I know is that if I was a cat burglar, I know what I'd be doing on a Friday night in 'Bama. It'd be as easy pickins as looting without all the civil uprising or natural distaster.

I kind of feel bad for Kristin. Alex is talking to some cute freshman, and the only guy she seems to have to try and throw in his face is Goose!

Anyone else notice the signs in the crowd? Something about "54 should be here" and "The school board doesn't care" or something like that... They showed them a few times.

On the Hoover football coaching site, http://www.hooverbuc.com/content.asp?SID=1270&CID=62052 there is a photo of Propst with his wife and three kids. Interestingly, the school has 18 football coaches under Propst.

Nice. 18 football coaches and probably only 15% of the kids are reading at grade level. Gotta love America!

JDub-I noticed those signs too and I was wondering about the story behind them.
Maybe Wade knows the story since he's in Birmingham?

Two-A-Days was a great alternative to the train wreck that Laguna Beach has become this season. I'd love to see the 2006 team in action with a season 2. For more on the show, click here .

Volcat,
According to random chatter, 54 was suspended for having a small pocketknife in his car on school grounds. Zero tolerance meant no playing, no game, not even attendance at the game. Harsh.
Apparently he graduated and now is at Auburn, which is punishment enough.

While I grew up in the north and attended a football-free school, I agree that this show captured high school more accurately than Laguna does at this point. Perhaps it's just a matter of any MTV reality show becoming stale after a few seasons, as the participants become more conscious of trying to project a certain image. I thought Two-A-Days captured the awkwardness of that age .

I think a big part of the reason why LB isn't very realistic anymore is because they're not allowed to shoot at the school. If they acted the way they do in school they would definitely get called out about it, but since it's only outside of school you see what they want you think they are. I'm sure if they were in the school there'd be boatloads of kids waiting to tell you how everyone really acts.

I'm torn. It's gut-wrenching. Around here, it's a given that you're brought up to despise the 'Tide. You can hate Florida or Georgia, but you respect them; Bama, not so much. There is no love. I have an idea that this weekend, I will feel a difference in my heart when they "Roll" into town. I will be welcoming with open arms (depending on my level of sobriety) all Bama fans; all because of a little piece of my heart that I call Two A Days, Hoover, and none other than Mr. QB John Parker Wilson-big brother to Ross. Maybe Ross'll even go (slim chance) and I'll get a glimpse of him or the Parents Wilson.
Football is an institution around here and I'm excited to practice the hospitality that the South is so well-known. As a UT graduate, of course I will root for my Vols. However, I have to say "Roll Tide" to Bama and their fans.
Two A Days, what have you done to me?

Wade- thanks for clearing up the questions about the 54 signs... I was wondering about that too...
Also, for those that watch the 2nd part of the finale online, check out the scene where Max's stepfather is hugging Max's girlfriend and she is trying to get away from him... she looks totally creeped out by him. He seems like a creep. And totally reliving his glory days (or lack there-of) through Max. Also, so sad to hear that Max and his girlfriend are no longer together! He seemed so normal and drama-free

JasonR, you are obviously a fan of misconceptions. I taught at a middle school in Hoover for 3 years, and our test scores averaged in the high 80th percentile. For people who don't know what that means (like JasonR,) 80% of the country would do worse than the kids in Hoover on a standardized test. Also, Hoover is not some rural small town. It's a big suburb of a metropolitan city. Birmingham is a wonderful place to live, and Hoover is a nice suburb.
