vm5-9-06So obviously I watched Veronica Mars last night.

BEST. SEASON FINALE. EVER.

There were so many moments during the episode where my jaw just dropped. It's easy to shoot a couple of people in the last few minutes of an episode and get all of your viewers to gasp. It takes skill to pull that off for an entire hour. The writers of Veronica Mars have that skill, and it was on display last night. There were parts that seemed a little chopped together, but I think the writers realized that they might not be picked up next year. They had to tie up a lot of loose ends in order to bring closure for the fans, but I think they left us plenty of questions for the opening of the next season. Warner Bros produces the show and has a hand in the new network that it's on, so let's hope they let them continue with Veronica Mars and hold off an creating another Joey.

You knew that Aaron Echolls' acquittal was going to take a lot out of the Mars family. The Lilly Kane murder tore their family apart. Keith lost his job, his wife moved away, and his daughter became an outcast at school. It consumed so much of their lives, but it was all worth it when they eventually found the real killer. Having the killer go free might have torn their lives apart once again, but Keith was not going to let that happen. Besides, there is another monster out there that needs to be taken down in Woody Goodman, and Meg Manning's dad is even offering a $20,000 reward for his capture. But even more important, Veronica will be graduating soon and there is no way that Keith is going to miss that.

However, if the investigation is taking place in Neptune, there is no reason not to spend some time trying to put that bastard in jail. Veronica and Keith are probably up to the task, but they do have a lot on their minds at the moment, so when Vincent Van Lowe calls Keith and offers a little bit of an assist, he decides that he will at least hear what the guy has to say. Vincent has a lot to offer Keith. He was doing research on Woody and got a lot of information on him. Of course this research involved breaking into Woody's home to get these details, and the only reason why Vinny even called Keith was because he was caught doing it and needed to get out of jail, but Keith sees it as a good opportunity to avoid having to do some extra leg work, and he will still have time for Veronica's graduation.

vm5-9-06a

After receiving all of the information from Vinny, we start to get a little more information on Mr. Goodman. He has lots of credit cards, has his own pilot's license, and has been treated twice for Chlamydia. Talk about an awkward moment. Think back to the first time you watched a movie with your parents and the movie cut to a steamy sex scene. There's the awkward silence, the uncomfortable shot of boobs or bare ass, then the hope that the sex scene is not very long and that there isn't too much screaming or slapping of body parts, followed by a courtesy pause and a "should I make some popcorn?" just to get out of the room. Veronica was feeling all of that and more, and I am pretty sure that she could have gone without her dad making jokes about Woody's Chlamydia and his campaign posters.

Like many of us, Veronica has a dream before graduation. The dream I had about graduation didn't happen until after graduation. I would dream that I was way behind in the last class I needed to graduate, and then I slept through the final and had to stay in school an extra year. Then I wake up all disoriented and realize I am in California and not New England and that I graduated five years ago. And if that isn't enough to remind me I've already graduated, the college loan is always nearby.

Veronica Mars...how am I going to survive without you for a whole Summer?
The episode was really good. I had read all the spoilers for a while now, so I knew pretty much what was going to happen the entire time, but there were still some huge surprises (exploding plane anyone?).
I agree that the episode felt a little choppy. I wish they would have done that boring Jackie/Wallace scene before the excitement on the roof, same with the other scenes, because it felt a little anti-climatic.
I loved it when Duncan gets the call from Clarence..."CW?" "Done deal" I thought it was so perfect and hopefully true as well!
Almost everything about the episode was just so great! From "my name is Cassidy!" to Logan and Veronica scenes, I was so excited.
It will be interesting to see what was in the briefcase. I kinda just assumed that it was a whole bunch of money, but I also want to know what she wanted him to do. Last years cliffhanger was better I'd say.
I'm going to miss Veronica Mars so much this Summer! They had better get renewed!

If only there was a pill I could take that would knock me out until Season 3 arrives...*sign*

You forgot the biggest clue of all

Duncan calls Clarence Weidman "CW?"

Clrance "It's a done deal."

CW? Done deal. I thik that was more than a coincidence :)

I'm saddned by Beave turning evil. I heart him :( The saddest part was his "My name is Cassidy!"

Fantastic ep. Tons of fun twists and surprises. I'm eagerly looking forward to the new 3 mystery format next season.

Wow J-Unit. Longest recap ever, but a good one! You accurately described the way they wrapped things up with just two errors (that I saw). You said "Woody" twice instead of "Keith". Keith didn't want to go to Texas, and Keith didn't get on the plane.

Maybe Kendall wants Keith to do something with the money involving her family, since she's been estranged from them for so long. The whole makeout scene with Logan and V was SO for the fans! Aaron's death did allow us to see where Duncan was, and set Logan up for a big inheritance too. He really didn't seem fazed by the fact that his dad wad dead.

I think I watched the last 15 min of this episode about 12 inches from the screen. It was so jaw-droppingly good I left my wine on the table and just concentrated on the action! Maybe we can just continue speculating on the forum this summer or something to get through the wait. You know this show is gonna get picked up. It just has to!!!

Definitely a fantastic end to a fantastic season. I was also on the edge of my seat and gasping at all the scary moments. Oh my goodness....how will I ever survive this summer? Season 2 is not out until August 15 I believe.

Great recap J-Unit. One note: it was Keith who didn't get on the plane, not Woody. Mr. Goodwood is gone!

Overall, a great episode. I thought it seemed like they did try to wrap so much up, that it almost was anti-climatic. It was nice to see last year's stories brought full circle (see ya, Aaron!) And I agree, the "CW" inside joke was great.

Thanks for the prompt recap. Maybe we can form a withdrawal support group. At least we should know for sure next week if Veronica is coming back!!!

You had Beaver, Dick, and clap all in the same sentence. Awesome.

I still maintain my hatred of Logan. 2 years of smarminess cannot be washed away by a few moments. I can't stand him. He doesn’t deserve Veronica! I do! I do!

What a great season finale! I must have said OMG 20 times during this episode. It was awesome, true Veronica Mars! I read a few quotes from the big wigs over at CW and it sounds like Veronica Mars will be renewed! Yea! I just bought season 1 on DVD and hopefully season 2 will come out quickly so I can get my fill over the summer! Can not wait til season 3!

"Woody never got on the plane. Lamb didn't want Keith getting all of the press bringing Woody back home, so Keith rented a car and drove back home."

Think you meant "Keith never got on the plane."

All in all a great recap of a great finale. Lets hope its a season finale as opposed to a series finale.

I will say that it would have been nice if Logan had shown up at the airport with keith's ticket. We all know Keith would never just leave Veronica hanging like that, so Logan showing up with the ticket and the two of them heading of to NYC would have been a good way to go.

As far as what Priscilla (AKA Kendall) wanted from Keith, my guess would be to figure out who killed Aaron, but is a suitcase full of money enough to make Keith do that? It also could be to track Big Dick Casablancas down so she can divorce him as she no longer needs his moolah. Not to mention that divorcing him would most likely have her adding to that 8 million quite substantially.

LOVED the finale...

And I have a woman crush on Kristen Bell. I think VM is definately coming back next season. Something about the mysteries only being 3-4 episodes long rather then the whole season. Who knows, I dont care, I just want my VM!

I sort of loved "Dark Beaver." Kyle Gallner really played all the nuances of that part to perfection. We all loved him when he was good, and when he was bad he was eeeeeevil bad. Not many actors can display such subtlety and texture in a character.

Question: Why did Mr. Manning put up the $20K reward for Woody? Was it because at that point everyone thought that he was responsible for the bus crash?

Ugh, you know it’s a boring day at work when I have to resort to checking out tvgasm before noon. J-Unit, terrific recap, loved the peanut butter line, haha, thanks for a great season of recaps, too.
One of the most shocking things to me was the revelation that Beaver actually raped Veronica at that infamous party a couple of years back. Thanks for bringing up the condom… here’s Beaver, a smart kid, entrepreneur, and brilliant mass-murderer, yet when he rapes a girl he doesn’t even wear a rubber, come on Beavs. Maybe he did, but just did other, grosser things to her in order to give her Chlamydia, though. On the subject of Chlamydia, as if it wasn’t bad enough that Woody molested the kids, he gives ‘em an STD to boot. I’m surprised Neptune didn’t run out of antibiotics the way this was going.
The differences between the mysteries of the two seasons are interesting. Lily’s murder was a crime of passion when Aaron lost his temper, grabbed the nearest blunt object and smashed her with it. On the other hand, everything Beaver did was premeditated and meticulously planned, do you guys think that’s any worse than what Aaron did?
Greganda, I agree, he really did perform well (even if Beaver couldn't in the sack), that was some fine actin'

OMG, OMG, OMG!

If they don't bring this back, I swear I'm NEVER watching the CW. Gilmore Girls is starting to suck anyway.

I have to admit, I had figured out that Beaver was the bus bomber. However, I had NOT even thought of the possibility that he'd raped Veronica! (Or that he would try to kill Keith.) I felt so awful for her right when she found out about the rape...it was like she was living that particular trauma all over again.

I thought it was a nice touch that Logan was taking care of Veronica throughout the awful night, and woke up with her in his lap...the exact reversal of the season premiere.

Overall, yes I was shocked many times, but I was more saddened than anything else. The whole episode was TRAGIC...look how many lives were damaged or lost. Beaver was one evil mofo, but he'd also been through his share of crap. Mac showed him true kindness and love, but it was too late to save him.

It's not too late to save Logan, however! Yes, I liked that they got together. (And you know that if it's renewed, they'll break up and make up a million times over, cause that's the way we like 'em. Hopefully they'll have sex too!)

hilcat Author Profile Page:

Wow, maybeimamazed02, you're good because I was COMPLETELY caught off guard on just about EVERYTHING that happened last night.

I can't wait for the season to come out on DVD so I can sit down and watch it again and pick up all the stuff I always miss.

KiwiKerry4eva Author Profile Page:

Well the season comes out on DVD August 22nd, so that will help knowing it's only 3 months away. They need to bring this show back for a third season!!!

Elder Young Author Profile Page:

I thought this was a great episode, but it was choppy and I think the first season finale was better, but that's because they left more cliffhangers. I didn't really predict Cassidy as the killer, but it makes sense and I was more surprised by the fact that he raped Veronica. That makes sense too because people who've been abused usually end up with screwed up sex lives, either being rapists, or completely avoiding sex, both of which Beav did (until this episode with Mac).

I will be very sad if they don't bring back VM, but both seasons have been great, so I could still look back fondly at the show if it doesn't return. Still, I hope VM goes on as long as they keep the writing as good or better than that of the first two seasons.

Greganda Author Profile Page:

Couple things about the message V sends to Logan:

1) It's exactly the same wording as the msg that Cassidy (as Mac) sends to Veronica: "Meet me on the roof now". So I am assuming that V forwarded that msg to Logan (much faster than typing the words out herself)?

2) What could be the reason, though, for the msg not coming up as A) from Veronica (what, she's not in his phone book?) and B) not as a forwarded msg?

Is there a reason V is not in Logan's phone? Isn't that strange?

Pie Author Profile Page:

The most moving line of the whole episode, maybe even season, was when Logan, trying to get Beaver not to jump, said "Beaver, don't!" and Beaver yelled "My name is Cassidy!". Kyle Gallner delivered that line so affectingly, I actually cried. Of course, I was already crying from the whole plane thing and the rape revelation. Yes, I'm a big sap. I'm going to miss the Beav.
