After the whole Casey Anthony drama, ABC has finally decided to put an end to paying their news subjects. It’s not a complete ban–they will use their discretion in special circumstances after approval, but for the most part they’re publicly putting and end to it. A spokesperson for the network told The Daily Beast“We can book just about anyone based on the strength of our journalism, the excellence of our anchors, correspondents, and producers, and the size of our audience. These licensing deals had become a crutch, and an unnecessary one.”

Although ABC already paid Casey Anthony $200,000 for photos back in 2008 (before she was charged for murdering her daughter), there will be no money exchanged for an interview. I’m so glad that all the networks have united on this front. Casey Anthony shouldn’t get a penny off her heinous crime.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I’d respect ABC’s decision a lot more if the network hadn’t left themselves a giant loophole, in that it can still “use their discretion in special circumstances after approval”.

Which basically means, “Casey Anthony isn’t worth taking further heat over, but if A REALLY BIG story comes along, we still want to be able to pay people off for interviews before they go talk to those goddam Today Show people.”

Like this will really affect Casey, anyway. No $$ at ABC? Ok, I’ll just take my fractured fairy tales elsewhere. SOMEONE will pay, up to the millions, and if it isn’t them–then no, she won’t be taking them up on their deal. Miss Anthony seems like she could give two shits about their “journalistic strength” or “excellent anchors”. Where’s The Check??

Yeah, that press release was ABC covering its ass and simultaneously giving itself a love tug.

Someone,SOMEWHERE will pay for this, and big bucks too, because as much as the public looooves to bitch about Casey being infamose and “profiting” from Caylee’s death, they eat up every news story or blog about the case, AND will tune in to any interview/story released by Casey and her team.

Hopefully, the civil suits will eat away at that moneypie…but you best believe the news/tabloid networks are making a big profit!
