It didn’t take long for ABC to dump Work It, but it’s officially off the schedule as of this past Friday. Repeats of Last Man Standing will replace Work It for the next three weeks until ABC makes a shuffle in their schedule. And that can only mean one thing…the return of Cougar Town!!! Funniest part about the return of Cougar Town is that it’s still named Cougar Town. Don’t you love the name drama that has surrounded that show for the past 2 seasons? It’s a TV show with an identity crisis. Pretty amazing.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I don’t understand why networks will churn out tons and tons of new crap shows (i.e., THIS train wreck and freaking Whitney, the most embarrassingly awful show to air in several years) only to push good ones (i.e., Cougar Town) out of the way. If it’s a good show, just leave it. And then of course, ABC will say, “Cougar Town hasn’t found an audience, so we have to cancel it.” It can’t find an audience because it’s never on the schedule! Rant over.

I also never got the controversy about this show, from GLAAD or whatever. I don’t think it was insensitive toward transgendered people (because, come on — the show isn’t about transgendered people), and the people who were complaining the most weren’t even transgendered in the first place, so who the hell cares? I’m glad it was canceled to low ratings, though. The early 80s were the golden years of men-dressing-as-women comedies and it hasn’t been done well since, no matter what that closet-case Tyler Perry wants you to believe.

I think it’s because men dressing as women is not–as comedy writers seem to believe–inherently funny. Talented comedians can MAKE it funny, but when that talent is MIA, you realize there’s just no yuks there. Same thing with gay panic. ZOMG! We’re straight dudes, and our lips touched! [and...crickets]

So strange. Every commercial I saw for the show called it a “hit comedy”. I hadn’t seen it; but was actually thinking I needed to check it out. It goes to show — never believe the hype.

@ notwithoutmytv: too true–unless they are naked and their genitals touch, that is semi-funny. Otherwise, yawn.

I think the people that were protesting the most were Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari because they did it so much better.

Oh, Amaury Nolasco. Why…why were you a part of this crap?

Tom Hanks is a funny dude. He even made parts of Saving Private Ryan funny. And Saving Private Ryan was not a funny movie.

@hypno I couldn’t agree more. Whitney really is truly awful…and I watched the entire fall season. I kept waiting for it to get less terrible, and it never did. Smell you later Whitney, enjoy Wed with the equally terrible Chelsea Handler show. Huzah! Cougar Town is back! That actually makes up for all the wasted time I spent watching Whitney. I will admit though that my favorite thing about Whitney are those god awful promos where she is blowing a kiss to the camera. I still make fun of it to the s.o. even though I imagine Liz Lemon doing it (that episode where she has that talk show and is trying to do promos)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a sitcom promoted as hard as Whitney was/is. The more those ads are shoved down my throat, the more I stay away.
