Ninety-five million people voted, and Haley Reinhart got sent home last night on American Idol!!!! Can I just tell you how happy I am? Her fake moves, and forced existance was sent home packing. Finally!

At this point, I could care less who wins. All I cared about was Haley NOT winning, so with that said: mission accomplished.

Thoughts?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

That photo says it all: why I bothered to watch Haley sing, why I won’t bother to watch those other boobs.

She was the only interesting thing left on this mule of a show with her F-U attitude and her growl. Now its down to Donnie and Marie Osmond singing country cornpone crap.

I said this in the podcast we did last night, but it was like 90 minutes long so I’ll say it again here… you can tell what kind of fans Scotty McCreepy has very easily: They’re the ones who held up letters during the show to spell his name S-C-O-T-Y-T…

    love, J-Mo :)

While Pia was the most gifted singer in the top 12, Haley was without question the most interesting and compelling voice. I guess I’ll root for Lauren at this point because she’s more talented and less annoying than Scotty

I saw that and laughed and laughed. But they did eventually get the sequence right.

@J-Mo – Yeah, I’m NOT a fan of Scotty AT ALL! I talked about it in the podcast too. At this point in the game all of them can sing, but they all lack that “it” factor. Scotty will do just fine in the country world, but I can’t see any of them “making it” like Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood did. Pia’s the only one that has a shot–but even she’s not J.Hud.

Haley and I shared a little pillow talk last night, and she wanted to tell you all that she’s doing fine, and, of course, looking forward to taking her career to the next level.

She also said if she hears Country and/or Western music ever again in her life, she will completely flip her wig. Boys who hold the mic like it’s a penis are also on her shit list. Oh, she also told me that it didn’t matter what any of the girls wore, Ryan wasn’t interested. If you know what I mean. And I think you do.

@NWMT–here’s hoping she’ll have fun with that career and really make it hers.

I gotta agree with Nads. I haven’t been watching the show for a few weeks now (I got bored) but I have caught a few clips on youtube. I think Haley has improved significantly over time, but she still comes off robotic and unnatural to me. The only way I can explain what bugs me about her voice is that she lacks soul — not soul as in “soul music” but as in having any heart in what she sings. To me she does the musical equivalent of reciting a script by rote. She actually reminds me a lot of Taylor Hicks, only less spastic (now) and with nicer hair.

I think Lauren lost her way, but I personally think her voice is better than Haley’s and she has a better chance of being developed into a viable “star” in the right hands. Not Carrie Underwood big, but maybe Daughtry big.

I’m not that invested, though, and I probably won’t watch the finale. The outcome really doesn’t matter — the proof of the pudding is what happens after (i.e., if popularity on the show actually translates into real album sales).
