American Idol Carpet Gossip

So, I had some emails and a comment about The American Idol red carpet last night. I didn’t tell too much because we have video that’s going to be posted tonight, but I’ll give you a quick run-down. The carpet was fun, but I didn’t get to see either of the Davids (or any of the current idols) as they were in sound check. I got to talk to a lot of the past Idols, but not as many as I would have liked. It’s funny because on a regular day, I’ll interview all the top past idols like Jordin Sparks, and any of the other guys easy, but once you’re at their “event” I found it impossible to track anyone down from the show because it’s their time to shine and there was NO time for them to talk to anyone (tear). But I did get to see a lot of people: Carrie Underwood looked fabulous, and she wasn’t wearing that awful cape-ish looking thing on the carpet that she wore on stage. I’ve never seen Paula Abdul in person until yesterday and she was the tiniest thing I’ve ever seen. I mean, I’m short, but she has to be barely 5’0”…she looked great and was escorted in with her entourage. I didn’t get to see Randy, but we’ve talked to him a million times, and love him. However, I’m happy to report that I saw Simon Cowell and his man boobs have reduced significantly.

Here are the people I talked to and met, but don’t know if they’ll all make it in the video cut:
Graham Nash
Jerry Springer (he was sooo funny)
Justin Guarini – (season 1 and actually looks SO much better in person than on TV)
Chris Bernheisel – This season’s Idol reject that did red carpet for Jimmy Kimmel (because of his threats he made to Fox if you were following that saga)
Arden Myrin – MAD TV
JD Robeto – host of American Idol Extra
AJ Gil – season 1
Hok Konishi – Season 3 So You Think You Can Dance
Paris Bennett – season 5
Kevin Covais – season 5
John Peter Lewis – season 3
Jasmin Trias – season 3
Chris Sligh – season 6

I went into the press room after the carpet and saw Donna Summer speak, but I typically tend to zone out during those things because press conferences are so cut,dry and quick…so not much to tell from the press conferences.

Stay tuned for the video tonight!

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I’ve met Paula (briefly – she was hammered, in the middle of the day, in a fancy hotel) and she really is teeny!

She, like most celebs, is 4/5ths the size of usual human beings.

Okay, here is the Chris Berheisel story (in a nutshell):

Tries out for Idol is horrible, then asks during his audition if he could “audition” to be a red carpet commentator for Idol. Simon promises him a spot as a red carpet correspondent for the local Nebraska affiliate where he’s from.

Then, I guess Fox said he could sit in the stands during Idol and he would be interviewed (rather than working red carpet) and Chris throws a fit. So, he writes this threatening letter to Fox and records himself on TMZ crying and saying how his dream was stripped, etc…and that he was going to take legal action if he didn’t get what he was promised. In addition, he made all these ridiculous demands saying he wanted 6 VIP passes and for he and his friends to walk the red carpet.

Jimmy Kimmel gets a hold of his TMZ video and letter and gets him on web cam during his show. Promises him a spot on the red carpet as a correspondent for Kimmel, and the rest is history.

Well, what is not on the video that we posted is Chris and this guy Jake (this guy from Kimmel who thinks he’s really funny, but is not AT ALL) messing with me on the red carpet to the point where I lose it a little. I will see if I can get the raw footage for the Gasm, but be warned I get really bitchy. hahaha.

And that my friend is the Chris B. saga in a nut shell.

And georgiababe! The job sounds so much more glamourous than it is. It’s a lot of sleepless nights, but I love it and it’s a lot of fun! Thanks for reading and commenting all the time!
