The Golden Globes came and went. If you didn’t get to watch it, and don’t feel like watching it on your DVR, let me save you some time…
Basically The Social Network dominated the awards show, Glee took top TV honors, Natalie Portman won for Best Actress in a Drama for Black Swan (which I’m so happy about), and Ricky Gervais did a great job hosting. No real surprises, and nothing in particular to report.

Great job, Ricky! Take no prisoners!! I hope his bodyguard was strong!
Didn’t watch the show either, so thanks for the post! Now I want to know about fashion, who was the worst dressed?!
I was so happy The Portman won. I was hoping for Kunis and Black Swan to sweep but alas, I guess they didn’t. Oh well.
Thanks Nads!
Ricky Gervais says what others are afraid too!
I love Ricky!
But did you know that Natalie Portman’s grandmother gave birth to Natalie’s mother who gave birth to Natalie who is continuing this special family tradition of giving birth? And that her fiance is the best actor in the world because in the movie he said he didn’t want to sleep with her but in real life he does and she’s wearing the really ugly pink dress to prove it?
Get a grip woman, this wasn’t your first time to the rodeo.
And Ricky’s jokes were hilarious. In 2005.
So…you liked “The Tourist” is what you’re saying, Vallegirl?
Heh. That was the only Gervais joke I laughed at. Because Angelina looked like she wanted to throw one of her knives at him.
LOLOL. I didn’t get to watch it since I’m not paying D-TV extra money per month to provide local networks and I simply don’t have enough power outlets left to use the digital box I bought like an idiot. But, boy did he apparently piss a lot of Hollywood types off, and the people who run Golden Globes are angry, too.
I have a feeling I would have hooted my way through the show. Gervaise is sort of like Colbert–he’s gonna do what he does and best to not invite him if you don’t want to hear it.
On a positive note, though, I was surprised at how well Trent Reznor wears a tuxedo. Sure he was a little neckless, but overall, who would have thought he could clean up and look like someone’s dad so easily?
Ricky Gervais was (mostly) hilarious. I’m not going to feel sorry for people who get paid millions of dollars a year, get a free $30,000 dress for the evening, then get a free dinner and free hooch for a night. Oh, life is just so hard for celebrities! If they can’t take a joke and some criticism, they’re in the wrong business. Even Angelina Jolie laughed at her own nomination, for pete’s sakes.
Yay for Natalie Portman! Her speech was way too dorkified, but girl deserved that win. Boo for Glee winning best “comedy.” The HFPA must have thought they were voting for “Most Over-Hyped,” cuz Glee? It ain’t funny, people. Modern Family was robbed.
You wanna talk robbed, Hynotoad? My future husband Jon Hamm was robbed, that’s who! I love Buscemi, but no one turned in a better performance than that beautiful man.
I don’t watch ANY award show because there are just too many of them: Golden Globes, Academy Awards, SAG Awards, People’s Choice, Grammys, Emmys, Independent Spirit, Critics Awards, Tonys, Yadda, Blah, Ad Infinitum, Ad Nauseum….
cosmonala – I totally agree. Jon Hamm should have both an Emmy and a Golden Globe by now.
I’m just super glad Chris Colfer won. He totally deserved it. And @Hpynotoad its comedy or musical, which easily makes Glee the frontrunner for the category.
Because if you’re moderately good at both halves you beat out a show that is the best in only one half?
And I think Eric Stonestreet’s sung and I know he’s danced on the show, because that’s how you make the horsey go. Can that qualify Modern Family as a musical comedy?
