Anna biggest loser

Anna Kournikova is off The Biggest Loser after just one season. She was allegedly a nightmare to work with, and did not sympathize with her overweight contestants at all. In fact, every time the contestants would complain, Anna would tell them to basically suck it up and tell them about her tough upbringing. I know it’s not funny, but I can’t help but laugh at this story. It almost sounds like a bad SNL sketch. “Suck it up, fatties!!! You think I’m a tough trainer? Try being trained by Mikhail Gorbachev!”

Anna issued this statement, “I enjoyed my time on the Biggest Loser ranch. Although I will not be returning as a full time trainer on season 13, I will always be a part of The Biggest Loser family and my commitment to bettering lives through health and fitness will continue.”

I’m surprised she didn’t end the statement with “Long live the U.S.S.R.!”

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Boo. I’m a total Kournikova fan, but she definitely grow up with a different idea of work ethic in regards to training and health priorities and in the long run, that must have made it difficult for her to relate with the contestants. Too bad. I know if Kournikova was my trainer, her ass would inspire me to work out more!

I am not surprised a bit. She didn’t have an issue with work ethic she had an issue with being nice. And her upbringing.. Kournikova signed a management deal at age ten and went to Bradenton, Florida, to train at Nick Bollettieri’s celebrated tennis academy… how bad can Florida be>?

Hmmm I haven’t watched enough of the season to see her be mean, so I can’t comment on that. I’ve only seen a few and she seemed decent in those episodes, so perhaps the ones i caught were misleading. And yeah, there’s a lot about her life before Bollettieri’s tennis academy (which isn’t jazzercise at the ymca center down the street) by any means, that wasn’t a cup of tea. But, the show is not about her and her struggles, it’s about fat people losing weight! So hopefully they’ll send in a good replacement. My hubby will be sad to see the eye candy go!

Ok, I’ve never watched Biggest Loser but I’ve watched Anna Kournikova and she had – Pretty Girl Syndrome. You know what that is? A beautiful girl who has had the best of everything because of her looks. I remember when she was still playing tennis she had 3 or 4 cellphones to juggle her dates. How could she ever relate to people struggling with size issues and trying to lose weight and being informed silently if not always directly how ugly they are?

You think I’m being hard on her? Let me tell you a story: years ago, I was friends with a Barbie. She was nice to me but I had a mixture of awe and frustration with how people especially men treated her and treated me when I was with her. I could accept the fact she was considered more physically attractive than me – it happens. But I had trouble with guys I knew not even deigning to acknowledge my existence when they saw Barbie. I mean literally walking by me to ask her name. I could have dealt with that even – as I said she liked me and I liked her and we got along. But one day I was dumb enough to tell her about a guy I liked (as I said this was years ago – decades actually) and she looked at me with condescension and pity and said, “But you’re not his type.” I felt small already but when a beautiful girl who everyone thinks is beautiful basically says you’re not desirable – it was a blow.

I’m not saying every beautiful person thinks others are beneath them who don’t have their level of pulchritude. But enough of them do especially when they had it all their lives like Anna Kournikova. If you can deal with her lack of empathy, more power to you. But I wouldn’t want a 5’8″ glamazon standing over me saying I’m not trying hard enough when even if I lost 200 pounds I wouldn’t look as good as she does – and she knows it.

@viane– “How could she ever relate to people struggling with size issues and trying to lose weight and being informed silently if not always directly how ugly they are?” I think you said what I was trying and failed to say! LOL
Personally, I’d be ok with Anna because i need someone to kick my ass in a workout, not give me empathy… but I know that doesn’t work for everyone. And like I said, I didn’t watch enough to see this colder side to her everyone is referring to, so I guess I spoke too soon!

I’m not surprised. She hasn’t gelled well with the contestants this season.

That’s interesting, because I just read an interview with her where she talked about how excited and inspired she was to help people on the show. She sounded sincere, but it could’ve just been PR.

But I’m not surprised she didn’t get on so well as a personal trainer. I’d imagine a Jillian Michaels or Susan Powter type would be much more relatable, since they understand the struggles of being overweight. Anna has been a pro athlete since childhood and a healthy lifestyle isn’t something she ever struggled to achieve. If she wants to be a personal trainer she’s probably better suited to working with other athletes, rather than ordinary fat people.

For the most part, with a few exceptions her contestents didn’t do as well as the rest. The exceptions were when someone pissed her off, then she worked their asses off, literally, and they did well.
