Here’s a feel good story…Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation had asked Bob Barker to donate $5,000, and guess how much he ended up donating? $250,000. How awesome is that? For as many girls he allegedly hit on during the Price is Right, he’s at least he’s good to animals. What a great story, right?! Looks like a few lucky pups are getting new hips for Christmas!

The WRR announced:

Bob Barker, best known for hosting The Price is Right for 35 years, has donated $250,000 to Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation!

The donation is funded through Barker’s Los Angeles-based DJ&T Foundation, named in fond memory of Bob’s wife, Dorothy Jo and mother, Tilly. Following up on a funding request from WRR for $5,000 for an avian ventilator, Mr. Barker placed a personal phone call to Lynn during which he mentioned that he had done a little research and found nothing but praise for our organization and our work with animals. He then said he was sending $250,000 to support the purchase of the ventilator as well as many other things he knows we need for all the animals we rescue.

Bob, sometimes I feel like I’m a wildlife animal that needs rescuing–any spare change?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

    Pups aren’t wildlife, Nads! LOL

I do agree that is was a great gesture, though. :-)

True story; I found a bird laying on my lawn. Crane or heron, can’t remember. Anyway we have a place in St. Pete called the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary. It rehabs birds that have been injured. The poor critter looked pitiful but was still very much alive. I wrapped him in a bedsheet, placed him on my backseat and asked someone to go with me to sit in the back with him because he was thrashing about a bit.

We got him to the facility and they told us that it looked like he would be ok. They thought a cat or dog got ahold of him. We left and were so happy that we had saved a life.

On the trip home I ran over a squirrel and killed him.

    TC, Robin
