The Price is Right turned 40, and guess who wasn’t invited to the anniversary show that aired today? Bob Barker. So sad. He WAS the show!! He wasn’t the first host, but he was certainly the most memorable. Personally, I think it’s disrespectful on the show’s part. On the flip side, Bob Barker has publicly said that he’s been upset with the show because they gave away a trip to The Calgary Stampede, which is notorious for many horse deaths. So as of now, Bob and The Price is Right are not on good terms. Bob said (about not being invited), “They haven’t even offered me a DVD…When you celebrate a 40th anniversary, you would think you’d have the fellow who did the show for 35 years there.” Well put, Bob!!! Tell ‘em! They need to respect their elders!!!

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

It’s sad. There was that business about Bob and the models, but I think it was “she said… he didn’t say much” and not substantiated. Not sure.

But he made the show what it became rather than the reverse and it is sad that he was snubbed.

    All other hosts…literally…pale in comparison.

We all grew up watching him.

As far as the model situation goes, let me just quote a couple of paragraphs from a fascinating website I just discovered, called Wikipedia on this very subject

“In 1995, model Holly Hallstrom left the show and later filed suit against Barker for wrongful termination and malicious persecution claiming Barker had launched a media attack against her, allegedly stating that she was disruptive to the working atmosphere of Price. Barker filed a countersuit, however he eventually dropped his case, while Hallstrom did not, finally ending in settlement in 2005.[8]”
“Following their testimonies in Barker’s lawsuit against Hallstrom, models Janice Pennington and Kathleen Bradley were fired, and later received out-of-court financial settlements.[9] Director Paul Alter was also removed from the show. Production assistants Sherrill Paris and Sharon Friem, who were also dismissed at the same time, each sued Barker for wrongful termination, as well as sexual harassment and sex discrimination. Both women ultimately received financial settlements.”

So, what at first glance might have looked like a case of he said/she said, in this case more or less boiled down to a case of “she said he was wanted me to do things with his grandpa doodle, and when I wouldn’t he started telling everyone I was a terrible person and unable to point at new cars in a professional manner”/”He said, why you dirty strumpet, that’s totally not true, and if we did do anything you must have loved it, so I’m going to sue you!/Then the Lawyers said “this case is a dog Bob, just give her some money and go back to explaining the rules to Plinko”/Then The Lawyers also said “And give those models who gave depositions against you some money too, because Christ on a crutch, we’d get our asses handed to us if this got anywhere near a jury.”/Then some other women who had gotten fired came forward and said Bob did the same thing to them/And The Lawyers said, “Sweet monkey Jesus! Again? Again?! What the f#@k happened to shuffleboard Bob? Guys your age are supposed to play shuffleboard, and do you know why? Because nobody wants to see their dicks! Now we’re going to write another check, but this is the last time. Keep Topo Gigio in your pants from now on!”
But yeah, to sum it all up it was pretty much he said/she said

In a company that had any respect for women, Bob Barker would have got the boot in 1995, and not gotten to hang around for another 12 years. I guess what I’m trying to say is screw Bob Barker
Still it’s awesome to hear about the anniversary

I’m guessing his behind the scenes behaviour had a little something to do with his non-invitation. We’ll never know what really happened, though.

Effin loved PLINKO! Who didn’t want to play.

Hey Marv Albert did a lot worse IMHO than Barker. Hell Chad Johnson headbutted Evelyn (not that she might not have deserved it) people make concessions all the time. I call bullshit.

@WB, I’m still calling “He said, she said” ’cause at the time there were fingers wagging along with penises at everybody involved. The more I read the less I respected any of them.

Part of being a longtime activist for women’s rights is the realization that sometimes women can do naughty things too.

    That’s equality.

I’m with Waffleboy on this one. Bob Barker is an OLD perv. He would have been groping all the ladies if he had been invited and then claimed it was their fault they were groped.

He probably wasn’t invited because CBS realized it would cost them more money, via NEW lawsuits, if they did.
