Brooke Shields Joining The View? **UPDATE** Elisabeth Is NOT Leaving

Word is now that Joy Behar is leaving The View Brooke Shields is being eyed to join the old wives club. A lot of people are saying that Elisabeth is likely to leave too, but I read that she has a long-term contract with the show. However, Babs is supposed to make an announcement today that Elisabeth is leaving…can’t wait to see if that’s true. I could totally do without her. I only watch The View when I’m with my mom, but even those once a month mornings with Elisabeth drive me crazy. True, she has a clear POV, but when she says dumb things–I want to jump through the TV screen and shake her. I’m not so sure that Brooke is the best replacement for Joy (I don’t know who is), but anything is better than Elisabeth…Sorry, not trying to be mean because I don’t care THAT much. As for Brooke joining the show? I don’t think it’s a TERRIBLE idea, but then again, I don’t totally love it…I’m really on the fence with this one.

**UPDATE** Elisabeth is not leaving The View. Babs opened up this morning episode with that announcement. She said, “There is a particularly false story that keeps getting picked up about Elisabeth’s alleged departure, saying that we don’t approve of her conservative views. The truth is we love Elisabeth. I like her personally and she’s just a wonderful person. But beyond that, we value and appreciate her point of view because Elisabeth helps give the show perspective and balance. … So we have no plans for Elisabeth to leave the show.” I guess that was her big announcement…now I just need her to confirm if the Brooke rumor is true?

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder.     Brooke Shields??? “She’s a beautiful doll”–singing the jingle from her doll commercial. She is educated–from Princeton no less. Maybe we just need a pretty woman to dress up the set?????

    Good bye Elisabeth–but I doubt she’d leave–what would she go to??? Is there another gig in the hopper for her?? She is as dumb as a post and fits very neatly the “white, Republican, Christian, female” slot.

    On the radio this morning, I heard EH was asked to leave because viewers don’t like her extreme right wing beliefs. Obviously, this could be a complete lie.

    Classy, if the above is true, I know what news channel will be scooping her up…

    True, but she could quite easily be on MSNBC’s right leaning morning show also. I don’t watch so I don’t know if she is informed or just opinionated. She would have to be fairly informed to be on Morning Joe.

    I actually think Brooke would be a good addition. She’s quite smart and I remember that whole kerfuffle between her and Tom Cruise re: taking meds to alleviate post-partum depression and while I can’t remember any specifics about her argument but I do remember people being impressed with how articulate and informed she is.

    Actually, never mind. She’d be an AWFUL fit for The View.

    And Elisabeth doesn’t have to be that informed for Morning Joe. Mika Brzezinski is kind of a cupcake. It’s a requirement for Morning Joe. Look smart don’t be smart because Scarborough’s the star. Plus, Mika’s father was NSA to Jimmy Carter so she at least has those bona fides which adds another layer of “respectability” to her that Elisabeth doesn’t bring.

    I would not put the Hasselbeck story to bed just yet. They could not announce EH leaving the same day at Joy decision to leave. It would take the spot light off Joy’s retirement. Babs gave the same line about Rosie as she is doing with EH “we love and support her” B.S. Let’s see if she shows up in the fall. With all the “cheering” comments on different sites about EH might be leaving, it may give Babs some pause.

    @ that’s what I was speaking about Valle…Mika can speak with her father on subject and she’s been working in news her entire career so I would say that she’s probably more well informed than what most think.

    Now does Joe over talk you when you counter his point…yes, but she seems to be quite smart to me and I’ve watched the show everyday since it first started.

    It would take 10 Elizabeth’s to keep up with the liberal quacking of the other 4 on that rag! Ms.
    Walters only pretends to want a bit of balance, not much though, as she’s quite the liberal herself.
