Community has been renewed for a shortened 13-episode season. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that there is no confirmation if Dan Harmon or Chevy Chase are returning, but I’m sure they will for what could be their final season. What’s the deal with NBC canceling or shortening so many of their sitcoms? I know their comedy block is in the toilet, but they should keep what works for them instead of sprouting a million new shows that are a crapshoot.

Well, I guess the good news is that Community is officially coming back, that’s a start…right?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

I’m thankful that we’re getting another season, even if it’s only 13 episodes.

I’ll be extremely upset if they decide to axe Parks & Recreation, however. That’s my baby.

I hear a rumor that Community, Parks & Rec, and 30 Rock were doing the death march next season. Community and Parks are my fav shows, so if they both end next season, I’ll be pretty devastated. Especially since I canceled my cable and have all but given up on reality TV. The only bright spot is that Arrested Development is coming to Netflix, and I can’t wait!

    @sarcasatire —

Arrested Development is coming to Netflix? Did it leave? Because it was on there for a long time (that’s how I watched it). Yep — just checked. It’s there (and has been for a couple of years, as far as I know)

As for Community, I’m glad it’s coming back for a while. I wish I’d been watching it since the beginning, because I love that show.

Community was so great last season that this season seemed kind of tired. It’s picked up in the last few weeks though. They haven’t been moving the various character story arcs along, I think that’s part of the problem. Still one of my favorites.

I’m glad the election nonsense is done with on Parks n’ Rec. They dragged that out too long.

Best new show of the season: New Girl.

I’ve also reduced my reality tv consumption. Mostly because I only watch competition-based reality and most of these shows and formats are getting pretty long in the tooth. I’m curious about the new Glass House idea though.

@Jimbob: Netflix will be airing new episodes! And then there’s supposed to be a movie. That’s what I meant by ‘coming back.’ The cast of Arrested Development have all signed on for both and I assume they are filming as we speak. Hopefully it lives up to the first two seasons. As Itchy pointed out, many great shows go through a third season slump and Arrested Development and Community are similar in that aspect. The whole British Town storyline was silly but I’m willing to forgive if everyone ends up back in the model home. Save for Lucille. She belongs in a penthouse with Buster.

    “Mom! You’re ruining our fort!”

@Itchy, I fear I haven’t given New Girl a proper chance. The episodes I watched were entertaining but didn’t hold a candle to Happy Endings. “Ah-mah-zing!” But I’ll check it out on Hulu..anything is better than the ‘B’ in Apt 2B.

Like you, I only go for competition based reality these days. Survivor and Celeb Apprentice are my top picks. And with Drag Race finished and Celeb App down to the finale, I don’t know what’s next to look out for. In the meantime, I still have Netflix and a few more eps of Game of Thrones on HBO Go.

    But what’s next?

Community was pretty good last night. Quite a few laugh out loud moments.

I love the Thursday NBC comedies. But then that god awful Awake came on afterwards. What a downer. I just turned to the basketball game and went back to feed my scramble with friends addiction.

I’ll take any Community I can get. Same with Parks and Rec. I read something about NBC may be trying the cable model of 13 episode seasons. It gives them more room on the schedule for new shows and would be cheaper in the long run.

And yes, Community was pretty awesome last night. Parks and Rec made me cry three times. These shows must stick around as long as they maintain their quality.

Yeah for Community. As much as I love Arrested Development, have my doubts as so much time as passed.

Sarcastire, I just started watching Break Out Kings. Pretty funny show if you don’t take it too seriously.

I’m a faithful “Community” fan. It was in a slump earlier this season, but the last few episodes have been top-notch (especially the Law & Order parody). NBC only order 13 episodes of “30 Rock” for it’s 7th and final season, so I don’t see it ordering more than that for “Parks” either. I’m just thrilled that they renewed “Parenthood”!!! I know, I’m one of the few who actually watch it, but I LIKE “Awake” too, so there!

    ….. and Itchy, “Glass House”??… that’s treason!

During Parks and Rec I did feel my heart warm when Ben said he never wrote her concession speech.

But any time I get some Jean Ralphio in my life it makes everything better.

Labowner, I’ll check it out. Is there a storyline that needs to be picked up from the beginning or can I just jump in anytime?

Community is one of those shows that is so beyond, like arrested development, the scope of what ” TV show” formula is. I mean seriously, alternate timelines, L&O, Civil War Doc…its insane and creative

Don’t forget Modern Warfare!! Best episodes of the series. @blueberry, I so agree..those shows are so beyond..it’s no wonder they have a cult following rather than a broad fanbase.

@chooch, they cancelled awake. It comes on at such a sucky time that it didn’t have a chance for people who liked it.

Oh, fuck. That means that after Community dies on Friday night, The Soup will be nothing BUT cringe-worthy guest appearances by McHale’s out of work Community co-stars.
