The Cougar Town name change is actually happening for season three. They haven’t decided on a name quite yet, but based on research the word “Cougar” is out because men are not likely to watch a show with the word “Cougar” in the title. Possible titles that are being thrown out there are: Friends With Beverages or The Drinking Age.

I kind of like Friends with Beverages, but it reminds me too much of Friends–and Bill Lawrence, the creator, did write on Friends…and Courteney Cox was the star of Friends…but maybe I’m overthinking it.

Thoughts on the new titles?

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Hard to believe this unfunny show is making it into a third season.

Whatevs Itch – this show is HIGHsterical.
I love the name Friends with Beverages, but it IS too similar to Friends. BUT maybe that’s their marketing ploy. To me it doesn’t matter what they call it, because I’m sure I’ll forever call it Cougar Town. :P

I like “The Drinking Age”, but they need to make a decision so I know to adjust my DVR.

I wish I could watch a show of people watching to show to see if they really do laugh while watching this. Every time I watch it, I just scratch my head.

I haven’t watched it yet (I’ll probably get round to it at some point) but I think I would be less likely to watch a show called Friends with Beverages – that’s a terrible title. The Drinking Age just sounds kind stupid. The current title is an issue, I guess, but it at least sounds intriguing to me…but then since I haven’t seen it yet that is moot.

I’m with you, itchy. I found the cast and director unbearable even when they were just on Food Network Star for a few minutes making lame jokes.

The Drinking Age feels like it should be somewhat philosophical or intellectual. I have no idea why. I’m thinking Prohibition era drama or indie film with quirky teenagers.

Friends with Beverages is a stupid name. That’s the name you come up with for an episode title because no one cares about the episode title. Also, if it hasn’t gotten cancelled yet, that name might be confused with Friends with Benefits which mysteriously keeps popping up in the most popular episodes on hulu.

Oh, whatever, haters. The show is hilarious and I’d even wager that it’s better than the freaking hipster orgasm that is Community (we get it — it’s “funny” and “underrated.” ENOUGH.).

I’m a loyal viewer and I think the name Cougar Town is a misnomer (only about 4 episodes were wholly about Courtney Cox’s character dating a younger man) and kind of silly. But that said, both of these new titles are ridiculously stupid. They need to think a little harder before changing the title of the show.

Why bring Community into this? No need to compare these two shows, both are awesome anyway.
