David-Archuleta

David Archuletta is taking a break from singing to go on his Mormon Mission. According to KSL.com, David isn’t quitting music, but he feels the need to serve his church right now. David said, “It’s not because someone told me that I’m supposed to do it, and not because I no longer want to do music, but because it’s the feeling that I’ve felt I need to do this with my life.”

So there it is, I’m sure he’ll make some screaming teenagers happy when he shows up to their doorstep with his bike helmet.

About

Although comedy is her profession, Nadine has accomplished a lot in her young age. She is a national champion black belt, a world-class soccer player, and an avid snowboarder. She started playing soccer at the age of 4, and continued playing through college where she majored in Biology, but quickly realized her destiny was to tell jokes, not to wear a lab coat. So she decided to be funny while finishing her Bachelors Degree in biology and continued on to get her M.B.A. Nadine’s comedy style is much like her athleticism, fearless. She’s made her way up the comedy ladder very quickly, and has become a club favorite at many of the country’s top comedy clubs, including the Improv chain. Performing in the Boston Comedy Festival and being noted as the “one of the youngest and brightest up and comers” and traveling to the Middle East to entertain the troops are just a few of her notable accomplishments. These days Nadine splits time between the stage, a radio studio, her computer blogging, and a television studio. Nadine’s TV, Radio, Writing credits include: national commercials, talking head roles on E! Entertainment, Showtime’s Hot Tamales Live, The Skinny: Fat Free News, The Sunny Side of The Truth: Real World Hollywood, TVgasm, Zazreport, Daddy’s Girls, Jerseylicious, celebrity interviews on Mania TV, a weekly half-hour television show that syndicates to colleges across the country for National Lampoon and a nightly radio show on XM Satellite Radio.

Oh great. These idiots are always knocking on my door here in France. They’ve got millions of homes to choose from, but they always end up at my door. Well, I’m waiting for ya, Davey boy. Me and my Louisville Slugger.

Itchy, I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall when the religious zealots come knocking at your door.

So… Let me get this right. The fame that he has acquired would be an obstacle to getting people to listen to him? Isn’t that the definition of fame – people pay attention to you? Isn’t that the point of missionary work? In what universe would he better serve his faith (heck, any faith. Or god.) by becoming just another anonymous bike riding, white-short-sleeved-shirt wearing minion. This has GOT to be about escaping his family.

I doubt he’s going to be a door-to-door guy. When Benji (of SYTYCD) did his mission the year before he auditioned for his show, he went to South America to build homes. And it’s about using your life more directly. Speaking from a stage is keeping people at a distance. What he’s going to do is a different kind of service.

It’s important to do a mission if you want to move up within the church and if you don’t go on one it’s frowned upon. Itchy – this it the truth – if they show up at your door, they usually are there to “help you out” so you can ask them if they’ll do some chores around your house and they are encouraged to do them. Seriously – need some dishes washed or yard work done?

Taking a break from what? NOT having a career?
